They mistook my kindness for weakness. I fucked up, I know that, but Jesus, can't a girl just do the best she can?

Chapter One | Elizabeth, Queen of Strategy

Colin checked his cufflinks, muttering, "What my Godmother is trying to do is enslave me." He said as he sat across from his Godmother, the Queen of England.

"No-I'm just trying to fix the mess you have made here and hopefully, to find you a wife." Queen Elizabeth II said.

"Is there really a difference?" He demanded in frustration.

She sighed, looking at her Godson.

"Colin, you are a king, a ruler, a monarch, a public figure, you have people watching your every move and enemies waiting to steal the throne from right under you. I don't know why you believe you don't have to consider the idea. I'm not forcing you into it, but I want you to think about the possibility." She stood and walked over to him. "After all, dear, you are thirty-six years of age. Most of your friends have already found a wife and have children... but you haven't. This would be good for you. It would change the public's view of you, Colin." She said.

"I don't want one, Lizzie. I've told you that I am quite fine without. And I can fix my reputation without having to get married." Colin said.

"I know you have. Just-know I am doing this because I love you and I care about your happiness and I do not want to see you lose the throne specially, a throne that your mother and father worked so hard for." She said.

He nodded slowly, murmuring, "Yes, ma'am." He said.

She smiled and patted his cheek as she said, "I'll see you out in the tea room, my dear boy. That's where we'll be meeting them." She said.

"Alright, Lizzie." He said.

-

"Georgiana, will you please put that book down and listen to want I have to discuss with you?" My grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II asked.

I put the book down on the table and looked up at her.

"Yes, Granny." I answered.

"Georgiana, are you still dating that young Australian businessman?" She asked.

"Jackson? No, we broke up almost a year ago, Granny." I replied.

"Oh that's too bad, I liked him." She said.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yes, he was a nice boy. Anyway, how have you been? I have not seen you much since Eugenie's wedding." She replied.

"I've been great, Granny. Can you please tell me why you have called me here?" I asked.

The butler walked in.

"Your majesty, His Majesty King Colin of Edgemere has arrived." He announced soon we heard footsteps and Colin entered.

"Sorry, for being late." Colin said taking a seat next to me.

"Colin, how can you be late when you were in the other room?" Granny asked.

"I was on the phone with Prime Minister Maxwell Monahan." Colin answered.

"Mhm, Colin, I do not think you have met my granddaughter, Princess Georgiana of York. She is the Duke of York's oldest daughter." Granny said.

Colin looked me up and down. I mentally rolled my eyes but smiled.

"Hello, Your Majesty." I said, shaking his hand.

"Hello, Princess Georgiana, I haven't heard that name used in centuries." He said, shaking my hand.

"Now, the reason why you both are here is because Colin, I have come up with a solution to restore your reputation as a good monarch." Elizabeth said.

"What is the solution?" Colin asked.

"I want Georgiana to be your girlfriend, well at least pretend to be your girlfriend, Georgiana is a very popular royal princess and she can definitely help the people see you in a new light." Elizabeth answered.

"Granny!" I exclaimed.

"Now, Georgiana, this can benefit you too. I just want you two think about it even though this plan will happen even if you both do not agree with it. Colin, why don't you walk Georgiana to her car?" Elizabeth said, basically dismissing us.

-

The Queen stood by the window of her office watching as her granddaughter and Godson stood infront of Georgiana's Range Rover talking. The Queen held a hand-held, portable, two-way radio transceiver in her hand.

"Felix, make sure you take pictures of them from all three angles." The Queen said into the hand-held, portable, two-way radio transceiver.

"Yes, ma'am." Felix said into the hand-held, portable, two-way radio transceiver.

"Lizzie, are you sure this is the right thing to do?" Prince Philip asked as he sat down on the couch watching his wife.

"Yes, Philip, it is the right thing to do. Both of them are stubborn and perfect for each other. This will help Colin with his public image and make him understand that you can be happy with someone by your side. Well, Georgiana, has no lesson to be learned in this but I hope it helps with being more open to taking risks. I know what I'm doing, Philip and it will work." Elizabeth said.

"I wonder how Andrew will feel about this." Philip said.

"He will be happy as he was when I approved of Jack for Eugenie." Elizabeth said.

"Let me guess, you're already working on setting up, Beatrice." Philip said.

"Yes, I am." Elizabeth said as she held up the hand-held, portable, two-way radio transceiver to her lips. "Felix, make sure you get a picture of him watching her leave." She said, smiling.

"Yes, ma'am." Felix said.

"You are truly an mastermind." Philip said.

"That is why I am the Queen of England." She said.
