I ignore my mum as I storm over to my corner of the tent and I grab my bag and start carelessly shoving things in it. A photograph, a necklace my mother gave me, some outfits and my purse.

"What are you doing?"

My mother speaks up from the corner of the tent.

Shit.

"I'm leaving mum. I'm sick of this. Everyone is lying to me and I can't take it anymore!" I say, the tears welling up, yet again.

"I'm so sorry. Just do what you need to do." Is all she says.

I storm out and make my way over to Dandy.

"Hey, old girl. How are you doing?" I say whilst stroking her neck. "I'm gonna go away for a while, but I promise I'll come back for you. Wait for me girly okay?" I say nuzzling my face into her neck.

I turn around and she softly nickers at me.

"I'll miss you Dandy. Look after Paige for me okay?" I say with my back still turned.

She nudges my arm with her nose, then she blows a gentle snort as I walk away.

I look around. But I don't want to. I'm going to miss this place and I don't want to leave but I know I have to. Why stay somewhere where you feel trapped and unsafe. I mean I don't even trust my own family anymore.

"Bella!"

Someone shouted my name. Trust me being needed when I'm trying to run away. Typical.

I turn around to see Lucas storming over with Paige.

Great.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Lucas says signalling to my backpack and the obvious saddening on my face.

"I'm leaving Lucas, I could stay and let everyone explain it all to me, but to be honest, I don't want anything to do with you all anymore. Also, you shouldn't swear in front of Paige." I say.

Paige starts crying and hugs me. Lucas tries to walk towards me but I hold my arm out and push him away. I wrap my other arm around Paige.

"If you just let me explain." Lucas begins.

"If you explained in the first place we wouldn't be in this situation. The fact you hurt me by lying to me wouldn't change Lucas."

"But Bella."

"This conversation is over Lucas, get that through your thick ass skull!" I say, shouting now.

I ignore him and crouch down next to Paige.

"Paige, I'm gonna go away for a while, a little adventure, but I'll come back and visit you okay?" I say, wiping her tears.

"You promise?" She asks, her eyes full of hope.

"I promise." I say smiling.

I never break my promises to Paige and both her and Lucas know that.

I stand up and walk away. A few tears dare to fall as I head towards the forest. My new home.

So I'm left there tears in my eyes, trying to comfort Paige and myself at the fact Bella left.

"Don't touch me, Lucas!" Paige screams.

"She left because of you, you made Bella cry, you dummy! Now she's leaving." She shouts but it turns into a sob that eventually dies down into a muffled cry.

"I'm so sorry Paige. If I could get her back I would." I say trying to comfort her.

"But you haven't even tried yet."

She's right. I haven't tried. I will get her back, she will never leave me again.

I head over to my dad.

"Uh, Dad?" I ask.

He ignores me.

"Dad. It's important." I ask again, getting slightly annoyed.

Still ignores me.

"Alpha?" I finally ask.

"Ah, Lucas, what can I do to help you?" He says, turning to face me.

What the fuck? I sigh.

"Bella is gone". I say, hanging my head low trying to hide the tears that want to fall.

"What do you mean she is gone?" He asks, annoyed.

"She left." Is all I say.

"Why would she leave? Where did she go?" He asks, raising his voice.

"She left because she knows... about us... being werewolves and I don't know where she went." I reply.

"She could die out there on her own." He says, shaking his head.

"I know."

"Maybe it's a good thing, at least we don't have to worry about hiding from her anymore."

"What the fuck dad?!" I shout.

"Don't raise your voice at me, if you want to find her you can spend your own time looking for her."

"I plan to father. I'm not letting her get away. My wolf has a feeling she is important and not just because I love her." I turn and walk off, heading to the lake.

I've been walking for a while when I realise I should probably find somewhere to sleep for the night before it gets dark and I can't see.

Athena? Can you find somewhere for us to stay? Maybe on our group's territory, but just not someone else's?

Yeah, I'll try.

I let her take over the human body, watching as she paces the forests.

We're walking for at least a couple of hours until she's satisfied we will be safe.

Here should do.

I take back control and look around, gaining better vision as I do.

I see a caving at the base of a tree. I curl up into the ditch.

Athena would we be safer as a wolf?

Maybe but the shift would take up a lot of your energy and it would hurt remember?

Yeah, maybe I should just stay human for tonight at least.

I wonder if it's gonna be okay out here. I ran away from everything I knew in anger, with no direction of where to go. I could get kidnapped or eaten by a pack of wolves, or those monsters... I could simply starve to death if we don't find food. I might not make it very long out here.

Izzy, it's going to be fine, you've got me. Have I ever let you down?

I guess not.

Right exactly, now go to sleep. We can figure out what we are doing in the morning.

I can't believe Lucas lied to Bella and now she's run away. I lost my bestest friend and I'm sad.

Who am I going to play with now?

I stroke Hollies fur, as I cry. With Hollie licking my salty tears away every time another one falls.

I feel like my heart has been broken. Like I've lost a part of me. I've always felt different. Like something was missing, but now I don't have Bella I feel totally empty.

"Come on Hollie. Let's go for a walk."

I tap my leg and stand up signalling her to follow.

She gets up and barks happily.

"Shh!" I whisper to her, putting a finger to my lip.

We walk out into the night.

I look up to the sky and see the stars twinkle down on us. I remember the song, how does it go...

Okay, that was weird. Why did I sing it like that? I didn't learn it like that. It's not that long? Right?

Hollie makes a little yip sound and I look up to see what she saw but it's too dark.

I pat her side. "Go on Hollie, what is it? Go find it, girl."

I chase after her and see that she's stopped by a tree.

Huh?

She lets out a single bark and sniffs the ground.

What's she found?

I walk closer to her and bend down, feeling in the dark for what she could have seen.

It's too dark for me to see.

My hand brushes on something cold and I pull back from reflex. But then reach down again and grab the cold object into the palm of my hand. It feels like metal.

I didn't bring a flashlight. Urghhh.

I put the object into my pocket and head home.

Upon reaching camp I feel a cold chill pass over me. I head towards the fire, both for warmth and light. Sitting on the log I pull the metal object out of my pocket and roll it round in my hand, it feels almost therapeutic.

Turning my gaze down to look at it, I can see it's a key on a chain. Who's key is this?

The key is detailed with star carvings and has a blue and purple stone in the middle. It's beautiful.

I put it on. It's safer that way, so I don't lose it.

"Come on Hollie." I whisper as we creep back to the tent, only to fall asleep instantly. Hollie curled up into my side.
