Chapter 22

"Don't test me God...
I came all this way so isn't it time to stop now?...
But why do you only give me these cruel times?"
Black Paradise - BEAST

Kao thought his plan was perfect. Everything was where it supposed to be. Every step was accomplished just like he intended. His hands have already had their grips on the criminal, the mastermind of everything. Then why? Why is his fiancé's body covered with blood, soaking through his ceremonial uniform?

"Wolf, report your team status." A deep, commanding voice spoke through her earpiece. Her eyes focused on the 2 monitors, which show various locations from CCTV of the royal palace along with the stage that was about to hold the coronation events.

"All through checkpoints. Setting up." The husky voice that belong to Wolf reported back, curtly.

"Fox,  your team status." The lady once again asked another team.

"All ready." Fox responsed as well on his team. They were perfectly blending in, acting as reporters. The 20 assassins were eager to accomplish. After today, their purpose would finally gained.

"Eagle, Hawk, and Vulture. Report."

"All piped up. Just waiting for targets." Eagle, one of the sniper answered. It's not any day her can blow the brain of a Prince out. Her finger was already itching to pull the trigger.

"Good. Get in position. The ceremony will begin in exactly 10 minutes. Protect Master and his daughter at all cost." The lady-in-command spoke again, her finger clicked the timer on her computer screen. Now they would wait.

At exactly 11 a.m., the cameras of various news station began rolling. The anchors at the scene of the special event were ready to report every details. Various Royals filled onto the right side of the stage. Among them were Kao and his father. There were also Prince Tul, his daughter, and various relatives of Earth and Fluke. Then, high ranking officials of the Court filled onto the left side of the stage. All these people are representing the right and left hands of the King, who help the King in leading Alethea.

Then, the Royal Family walked onto the stage. The Queen walked in front. Fluke followed his mother. Both were wearing royal blue dress and suit. The crowns on their heads reflecting the light from the sun, emitting royal aura. They both stood at the front row on the right side of the stage, right in front of Prince Tul's family and Kao's family.

Lastly, Earth walked toward the stage. Sixteen Royal Guards walked along with him. Eight in front and eight in back, two lines each. These men had promised their lives to protect the new King of Alethea in all situations.
Earth was also in a navy suit, his ceremonial suit. Various medals hang on his right shoulders. The crown on his head fitted perfectly, made him look taller. His eyes were icy cold, his face dashed with confidence, his steps were determined. He emitted the aura of a King. Indeed, he would be King in the next few minutes.

The Crown Prince  and his entourage stopped at the front of the stage. The Head Judge of the Royal Court stood in the front, ready for his role. He began his speech, "Good morning to all Excellencies! Today, we are presenting here to witness the coronation of our new King. A new reign of Alethea is about to start. Throughout the years, our Crown Prince, Earth Katsamonnat Suttirat, had showed to his subjects his accomplishments and his worth to be your next King. He had used his intelligence to help our previous King solving countless of problems in our country, leading it to a better place. Today, he is standing in front of his subjects to become the next King, to swear that he will use all his ability to lead Alethea to the right path toward a brighter future."

"Target in sight." Eagle spoke into her in-ear piece.

"Target in sight as well." Hawk and Vulture responded at the same time.

"Good, in 15 seconds. 15.... 14.... 13....3...2...1."

Crack.
Crack.
Crack.

"What's going on? Answer me! Eagle? Hawk? VULTURE?!" The lady-in-command screamed into her microphone. Her hands moved spontaneously on the keyboard to get access on the CCTV. Suddenly, she felt it. The gun on her head.

"I advised you to stop what you are doing unless you want to feed your brain some metal meat." The lady froze, her hands stop moving on the keyboard. "Put your hands on your head. Don't even try to do stupid shit, you are surrounded."

She took her hands off the keyboard, moved them toward her head. Suddenly, she reached out her hand to reach toward the knife lying not so far away.

Pew-pew.

"AHHHH" the scream filled the silent room. The lady clutched her bloody hand to her chest. Her face scrunched up due to the pain.

"I told you bitch! Don't do stupid shit!" The man mockingly said. He then walked toward her, pulled her up from the floor, and moved her out of the room.

At the stage, the ceremony continued. Earth finished his oath. The Head Judge spoke again, "Please bring in Sovereign's orb and sceptre."

A shadow moved from the back of the stage. When the man majestically walked out, his hands holding Soveregin's orb and sceptre, gasp of surprise filled the area. Earth could not even hold his mask. How could he? His father was walking toward him. His father who he thought was deceased, buried 6-feet deep in the dirt. His mother and brother were already running toward his father, throwing away all etiquettes. The Queen ran her hands on the King's body, checking whether if he was real.

Before Earth could wrap his mind around the figure in front of him, his brain had already registered the simultaneous  noise of trigger being pulled around him. He turned around to look.

"Wha..." Earth barely uttered his question as his eyes took in the sight. Almost half of the reporters were being held under gunpoint. Many of them tried to fight back; but, they were quickly defeated by the skilled Special Force men. His uncle was also in the same fate, a gun pointed at his head by no other than his fiancé. Kao's father was no different.

"Prince Tul Suttirat, you are under arrest for treason and involvement in terrorist attacks, and the mastermind of Alethea. All your followers are also being held captive. You will be investigated and punished under the law of Alethea." Gun, the chief of police, spoke to the Prince.

Curiosity and murmurs filled the stage, replaced the terrified looks of those who are witnesses to the unfolding event. Prince Tul remained silent. Yet, his face showed nothing of remorse nor guilt. Instead, it was filled with arrogance. He gave Kao a smirk then to King Tan, his brother. Kao ushered Prince Tul toward the long chain of police cars that seemed to arrive just in time. Everything was well-planned.

The whole ordeal had came to an end. No blood was shed. Every single member of the Royal Family is still alive, just like he planned. Suddenly, he felt someone pushed him with a great force. His body felt to the floor, pulling Prince Tul with him. His ears filled with scream, the sound of gunshots, and the sound of running.  Kao felt Prince Tul pulled himself out of his tight grip. The man was trying to flee during the chaos.

Kao hurriedly push himself up from the floor while grabbing the gun that had fell out of his hand a few seconds ago. He aimed on Prince Tul's leg and accurately delivered the bullet to his target. Prince Tul fell down and immediately being captured by Gun who had ran toward him.

Kao then turned around to look for his fiancé. That when the bloody sight greeted his eyes. Earth's body laid in the tight hold of the Queen, who is crying in agony. Fluke held his brother's hand, begging him to wake up. The King was directly his Royal Guards to call the Royal doctor and ambulance. Guards, polices, and special forces soldiers stood around to protect the Family.

His plan was going extremely well. Tul and his followers were all captured. Then why? Why is his fiancé lay lifelessly like that? Why Earth's navy uniform all soaked with his blood?

"No, no, no... This is not happening!" His legs no longer able to hold him. Kao fell down on his knees. He shook his head side to side, refusing the sight in front of him.

One drop, two drop, three drop....

He thought he would never cried anymore after his mother died. Yet, here he is. Pouring his eyes out. His heart is pinched by thousand, million, billion of pricks.

It hurts.
