~1~
It was June 1st, a normal day in the kingdom. Mya and Adelaide were walking through the marketplace looking for expensive customized dresses for the upcoming ball. They wanted to look their absolute best, otherwise their parents would be upset. After all, the two daughters of the royal family had to shine, it was practically an unwritten rule.
Mya stops In front of a shop with beautiful dresses. "Hey Adelaide, that one would look beautiful on you." She points to a beautiful blue gown with a plunging V neck, flowers along the bodice, and a long silk skirt with a bit of a train.
"Hmm It's very beautiful, do you think it will catch the attention of that cute prince from Winchester with the dreamy eyes?" Adelaide asks, staring off into the distance.
Mya scoffs. "Who Prince Cardan?" She laughs. "He's not good enough for you, plus he's clearly got a thing for Jude. We'll find you another prince."
"Alright, fine, let's just buy the dress." Mya goes into the shop and buys the dress. "We also must get the matching mask. It is a masquerade ball after all." Adelaide adds. Mya buys the matching mask.
They leave the store and continue on. As they continue walking Mya spots and long black silk off the shoulder dress with purple accents along the bodice and a plunging V neck, that came with a matching mask.
"Mya, are you sure you want the dress? It makes you look scary and stand off-ish." Adelaide points out as Mya goes to buy the dress.
"Yes, I want to look scary so no Prince dares to get close to me." Mya buys the dress and they walk out of the store.
"But Mya, you should be looking for a Prince. You know Mother wants us to get married " Adelaides says clutching her dress in excitement.
"There arn't many good options, they're all a bunch of stupid pee brained jocks." Mya says as she thinks of a boy from her childhood who always used to tease her about her darker skin and curly hair.
Adelaide frowns. "Are you thinking about him again? Come on Mya, that was ages ago. You don't even remember his name for what he looked like." Adelaide says, bumping her shoulder. "Nevertheless I still hate him, And you should be thinking about that one boy who always teased you about having a crush on fathers servant. He was a jerk." Mya says scowling.
Adelaide rolls her eyes slightly, still smiling. She told Mya everything, which obviously included her memories of the boy from her childhood. "Well yes, sometimes, but other times he was nice too. Remember when I hurt my ankle and he helped me?"
Mya sighs. "Yes, I do. Are you saying he wasn't a complete and total jerk?"
Adelaide smiles again. "I'm saying it's different than that. Yes he was mainly a jerk when it came to my crush, but when I really needed him he was there. Which is more than I can say for your prince charming." She jokes.
Mya scoffs. "He is NOT my prince charming. Plus, we haven't seen them since we were ten, they're probably worse now."
"Hmm Who knows, maybe they've changed. Maybe they've become real Prince Charmings" Adelaide adds. "I wonder if we'll ever see them again."Mya smiles, hitting her on the arm. "A girl can dream. Now come on, let's get home, these dresses aren't gonna try themselves on." Mya heads home with Adelaide to try on the dresses

"Come on Niki, sit still," Jungwon says as he and Niki are getting their suits fitted.
"I don't want to go to the ball." Niki whines.
"Just suck it up, you know we have to go, you should be glad Father let you get that black suit, you know he doesn't like dark colors." Jungwon says looking in the mirror at his blue suit. He wasn't sure why Niki was so reluctant to go, all they had to do was dance and eat food. It wasn't like the days when they had to sit around for hours, listening to people's complaints. "It won't be too bad, who knows, by the end you might enjoy it."
Niki sighs. "I'm sure I won't. It's gonna be so boring."
Jungwon rolls his eyes at Niki's antics. "Maybe at least try to have a positive attitude? We have to have a good impression, otherwise things won't go well."
Grumbling, Niki finally lets up. "Fine, but I won't be happy about it."
—--------Time Skip at the Ball—----------
Mya walks into the ballroom as confident as she can. Everyone's wearing masks so no one can tell who's who. Adelaide walks around looking for Prince Cardan but gets distracted when she sees a tall mysterious stranger wearing the same color as her.
"So he's the new crush I'm guessing," Mya says, standing next to Adelaide.
"Yep, I can't see his whole face but look at his eyes, you can see them through the mask and they're gorgeous." Adelaide says, grinning.
Mya playfully rolls her eyes. "I know you wanna go over there, go I'll be fine." Adelaide smiles at Mya, gives her a hug and walks over to the stranger. Mya leans her hip against the table and watches Adelaide walk away.
Adelaide walks up to the stranger slowly, her heart pounding in her ears. She wasn't sure why she was so nervous, but something about him had her skin tingling. She tapped him on the shoulder, and he turned around.
"Oh- hey," he said, bowing.
She smiled, curtsying back. "Hi. I'm Adelaide, nice to meet you."
"Hello Adelaide. What a beautiful name, I'm Yang Jungwon." He smiles at her.
Adelaide blushes. "Hello Yang Jungwon." He quietly laughs.
"Would you like to dance?" He holds out his hand.
"Of course it would be my pleasure." She takes his hand as he leads her to the dance floor.
Mya is peacefully watching them until someone bumps into her.
"Hey, watch where you're going!" She whirls around, scowling slightly.
The boy who bumped into her puts his hands in the air. "Alright, sorry! But maybe you shouldn't be in the way."
Mya raises her eyebrows. "Excuse me? I can stand wherever I want."
Niki frowns. "Just move."
Mya scoffs. "No, make me." Niki rolls his eyes and gently moves her aside. "Wh-" Mya almost trips. "What are you doing? '' Mya says angrily.
"Moving you out of the way." Niki turns his back to her.
"Well that's rude," Mya says. Niki ignores her. "Hey" Mya moves in front of him. "Listen to me when I'm talking to you." She gets in his face.
"I'd be able to listen if you'd move your pretty little face back a bit." Niki looks into her eyes.
Mya is at a loss for words. Pretty little face of course she's pretty but her face isn't little. She stands there for a moment but remembers why she's this close in the first place.
"No" She smirks at him. Clearly she won, she wasn't going to lose to this arrogant jerk.
Niki steps closer to her and leans in where their lips are almost touching. Mya's gaze shifts from his eyes to his lips then back to his eyes. "How bout I kiss that smirk off your pretty little lips?" Niki suggests and smirks as her's falters. Mya stands there looking at him shocked. "Mhm, that's what I thought." He walks away leaving her blushing and flustered.
Mya's mind spins. Kiss her? She watched him walk away, back turned to her, a small frown on her face as she went over their conversation in her head. How did it escalate so quickly? And was he flirting? With her?
"So Adelaide." Jungwon says as they dance together. "What kingdom are you from?" Jungwon says, firmly holding onto her waist.
Adelaide blushes and looks down for a moment. "I'm from Manchester"
Jungwon smiles at her nervousness. "I'm from Winchester."
She looks back up at him, and smiles a small smile. "We're pretty close then. You should come by sometime!"
He smiles wider at that, kissing her hand gently. "It would be my pleasure."
Adelaide's cheeks go red, and she's glad she has the mask on or it would be obvious to everyone else around her. "I would love to," Jungwon says as they continue dancing. Jungwon didn't know who this girl was but he definitely had a crush.
