When all of New York screamed - 9/11/15

Twin siblings bound by birth

Twin towers sparkling with mirth

These brothers bare bones scattered

This wretched soil to earth.

"Dance with me, my brother!

As rain blows about our heads!"

"Sing with me, my brother!

This song will never end!"

To wind they moved and swayed

To rain they harmonized

'Till split by dragon flight

The brothers from dance were prized.

The heart the drake did strike

The brother choked and gasped

And all the city took a breath

A million dry throats rasped

With one voice New York cried out

"Oh God!" the sound rent the air

The Voice of the cities' millions

Went up in a wailed prayer.

The second brother looked at his friend

From the corner of his eye

When suddenly another snake came

Swooping from the smoke-stained sky.

The second brother's heart it tore,

he groaned, shaking the trees

Again a single Voice cried out

"Oh Lord!" they all fell to their knees.

The first brother looked upon

Those those dragons, ruling the sky

With a roar of rage, pain and loss

The first twin fell and died.

In shock, the single Voice of many

Screamed again that day

"So many dead, so many dying

How could they end this way?!"

The men, the women, the children

They cried out as one voice

As the second twin followed his kin

In this, he had no choice.

His roar rocked the fragile earth

Inhuman cry of rage

And yet his call for his sib's revenge

Was drowned in a dusty cage

Yet still louder roared New York

Voices took up the cry

Until in that single moment

the wailing city was unified.

At length, the dust hangs free

At length the twins have fallen

At length the city is silent

Of Peace there can be no more.
