Chapter 7: The crime scene!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The love in our family flows strong and deep,
 leaving us memories to treasure and keep."
Evan:
I sat in the spot where I met Roxanna last day... a little deep in the woods. I let out a breath and tried to relax. But, adrenaline was running in my veins.
Seconds passed and Roxanna stood before me. She crouched to my level as I looked at her with anticipation. She let out a breath, "She's safe."
My eyes widened and I breathed deeply, "Can I meet her?"
She looked at me with tender eyes but shook her head, "We have to carry out the second part of the plan. Only then can you assure complete safety for both of you. We gotta end this first."
I frowned and sighed, "Okay... let's do this."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I walk inside the house and heard a commotion. My adoptive father, David Villis was arguing on the phone while his wife, Liana Villis looked tense.

They spotted me and glared. David grabbed my arm harshly and questioned me, "Did you plan this, boy?"

I breathed in sharply as fear settled in my heart, "Plan what?"

"Hallie's kidnap!"

I pretended to be surprised, "Hallie was kidnapped?!"

He growled and yelled furiously, "Don't pretend!"

I flinched.

He breathed loudly and deeply, "You will have five new clients today. Believe me when I say that I'll keep you alive and make you beg for death."

I panicked momentarily forgetting that Roxanna's got my back. I tried to free my arm from his grasp. He raised his hand to slap me. I shut my eyes tightly but the blow never came.

I opened my eyes to David crying out loudly in pain. I was on the ground and Roxanna stood over me crushing his hand to a pulp. I gasped at the gruesome sight.

"He's got to sign..." I choked out.

She looked at me, her eyes a beautiful ruby-red held fury and anger. Her lips parted, showing a peak of her fangs. Blood ran down the corner of her plump lips and her clothes were stained red. My breath hitched. I couldn't understand how someone could manage to look so beautiful and frightening at the same time.

I saw her lips move, "He's a leftie."

I nodded my head hazily, just remembering the fact. I pushed myself onto my feet and looked around. All the guards were dead. Liana Villis stood in her spot trembling in fear. I figured that David and Liana were the only residents alive apart from me in the Villis Mansion.

She then let go of his hand and grabbed him by the back of his neck. Liana grabbed a knife from somewhere and tried to stab Roxanna. Roxanna caught the knife and crushed its sharp edge without much of an effort. I gulped hard and wondered what I had gotten myself into. If I ever tried to fight or run from Roxanna, I'd never be successful.

She dragged them both to David's office where he kept all the important documents. I just tailed them. She then washed her hands and grabbed a fresh bunch of documents that appeared to be the ones that she certified and brought. She must've placed them there before killing all the guards.

She grabbed a pen and placed it before the Villis couple. David whined the whole time holding his crushed hand to his chest. But he managed to mumble, "What are these papers?"

Roxanna looked at him with a glint, "You're writing down this house and all your money on Evan Dankworth's name. You better sign it and... I'll think about letting you off alive." She smirked.

The couple widened their eyes and tried to shake their heads. Liana took the courage to speak up, "What kind of an abomination are you?! Why isn't the town raiding you with stakes??"

Roxanna ran her tongue visibly over her fangs and pretended to ignore her accusation, "I'll just suck you dry then. It ain't difficult to forge your signatures."

They both tensed and grabbed the pen and proceeded to sign the papers. They then begged her to let them off alive.

But, I saw her drag them into the torture room where I was usually tortured. I just sat down on the floor waiting for her to finish.

I heard screams, cries, and pleading to let them live. But soon, it turned into begging to just kill them. My heart constricted at how brutal she really was. I held back my tears.

Roxy:

The ground was littered with toes and fingers. I grabbed the whip. I chained both of them by their wrists. My heart felt thrilled with the amount of pain I'm inflicting on them. Their cries and begging felt like music to my ears. I whipped them over and over again until their throats dried up and tears ran out.

I untied them pulled them onto the chairs. I poured a jug of water over them and they gulped it down desperately. They began sobbing again and begged me to kill them. But, I threw them face-first onto the ground and grabbed a knife each in my hands.

I drew the knife over their backs in patterns that I desired. They howled in pain and cried. But, I wouldn't let them off.

My sadistic heart wanted a taste of their blood. David was the first to go. I sunk my fangs onto his shoulder and drank from him. He whimpered. I withdrew, not healing the wound... letting him bleed.

I then tasted Liana's blood. I couldn't help but think that none of them smelled as good as Evan. They wouldn't taste as good as well. I left her wound open too. I let them bleed for a while, just not enough to kill them... yet. I closed their wounds with my saliva. They begged me to kill them.

I was doing what they promised to do with Evan. Keep them alive and make them beg for death.

Evan:

I trembled hearing them beg and cry. When I thought it all stopped, I heard their cries again. I shivered. What was Roxanna doing with them? I compelled my feet to stand up and run towards the cellar.

The sight that before my eyes made me stop in my tracks. My heart was beating in my throat. What they did with me... Those lashes and beatings were nothing compared to what Roxanna was doing with them. It was such a bloody and gruesome sight that my brain kept compelling me to run... run as fast as I could, as far as I could... away from Roxanna. What was I thinking when I agreed to this? What if I'm next in line for this torture?

I swayed and caught the wall for support. Roxanna stopped what she was doing and looked at me. I looked at her and saw nothing more than a monster. She's a monster in the facade of a beautiful looking person. I let out a humorless laugh. She is an actual monster. I knew it all along. I was such a fool to think that she would ever be gentle with me. I can't trust her. But, I can't conclude things just yet. Maybe, this is her way of killing.

But, she isn't killing them. She's torturing them. She looked at me intensely. My lip trembled as I spoke, "Roxanna, please kill them... Don't do this."

She let out a breath. She grabbed David's head and twisted it killing him in the process. I flinched at the cracking sound and the loud wailing of Liana. She killed Liana in a similar way. I felt bile rise to my throat. I ran out of the cellar and fell on the floor to get oxygen into my lungs.

I trailed her on the road. The sky had an orange hue to it. The sun was setting. She looked fresh with wet hair and clean clothes that belonged to me. She said that she didn't want to scare me anymore with all that blood. She even used a fresh toothbrush and my mouthwash to clean her mouth.

But, my legs still felt weak and I was so scared that I could piss my pants if she made a wrong move. So, I stayed far behind her as she led the way. She knew that I needed my space and didn't push it.

I cleared my throat. She tilted her head showing that she was listening. I spoke, "What about the mess back at the house? Don't we have to clear it?"

She shook her head, "The police will take care of it. I paid a great deal for that."

I just nodded my head and stayed silent. She stopped in her tracks. I froze.

She turned around and looked at me. I took a step back. She sighed, "Don't back away from me, Evan. You know that I won't hurt you..."

I pointed my finger at her, raising an eyebrow, "I don't know that!"

She looked at me amusingly, "If I wanted to hurt you, I would've done that long back."

I sighed. She took a step towards me and pulled me into her arms in a genuine hug. But, I was tense. Is she going to bite me now?

But, I realized that she wasn't planning to do so because she placed a kiss on my neck and rubbed my back assuringly. I just relaxed in her embrace and let her support me. I hugged her back and patted her back awkwardly as I felt her soft breasts against my chest. My face probably turned a funny shade of red.

She chuckled and withdrew. Her eyes ran over my frame and I gulped. She ran her fingers over my face and spoke, "Let's get you to your sister. She's a lovely one. Her hair is such a beautiful red!"

I nodded, "She got it from our Mum. She looks like a carbon copy of our Mom."

"What happened to your parents?" She asked me.

My eyes watered, "They died in a shipwreck on a honeymoon trip... for their anniversary."

She frowned, "I'm so sorry."

I nodded and took a breath. It's been five years since I met Hallie. I was so anxious to meet her. We walked a little to find a huge building. We took the elevator to a huge penthouse at the top of the building. It amazed me that a vampire in disguise was living in such a luxurious apartment.

Roxanna just shrugged, "Got the money from some illegal one-time jobs."

My eyebrows rose as I nodded at her. We walked inside and I called out my sister's name.

A girl reached up to more than half my height walked out of a room and stared at me with her mouth open. I held out my arms for her as tears threatened to spill. She laughed and jumped into my arms. She wrapped her legs around my waist and hugged me tightly.

I cried like a baby and I held her to my heart. She pulled away and held my face in her hands, "Damn... It's you!"

She laughed and wiped my tears, "You look like shit. You're gonna need a bath. You stink like sweat!"

I sniffed and let out a laugh, "I know. I do stink! How are you, Hallie-bear? Did they do anything wrong?"

She sighed sadly and shrugged, "Nothing except for try and make me believe that I didn't have a brother... and that all my memories were non-existent!"

My mouth fell open, "Gosh... Then, how did you even believe that I existed?"

She grinned, "I am very smart! Lemme show you." She then slid off my arms and walked into a room.

I followed her and saw her grab a bag. She pulled out a packet of sanitary napkins and slid out a wrinkled photo from inside it. She sighed, "This is my most prized possession. The hiding place always changed... But, my mission was to always keep this hidden away from them."

She then held the photo beside my face and smiled, "Still the same. The difference is that you have a light stubble which means you've been shaving out your beard and you've grown into a very handsome man."

I smiled and took the photo into my hand. It was a very wrinkled picture of our family before we became orphans. I used to keep this photo with me. When Hallie and I were separated, the photo went missing. I smiled realizing that Hallie had stolen it from me to keep her company.

"And, Ebby?"

I looked at her surprised. She still calls me the same way that she did when she was a baby. Back then, she couldn't pronounce my name and called me 'Ebby' and continued calling me that... It was five years back and she still remembers it.

"Yeah?" I asked her.

She sighed, "I got my period a week back... My first period."

I laughed lightly, "I know, Angel. You just took our family picture out of a sanitary napkin pack."

She just laughed along, "Yeah, I did!"

A/N:

Ha! It's solved! Now, for Evan to put up with Roxanna's needs... Gosh! Is she really as sincere as she seems? After all, it's just a deal that they made! How is Evan going to put up with her anyway? Getting bitten isn't easy!

Anyway, what do you think of this chapter??

What do you think of the story so far?

Oh! And did I tell you that this is supposed to be a short novel? It's supposed to be short :D

Love,
Jahnavi...
