Khushi thought Arnav won't come to her room and answer her questions. So she what about to close the door, but she stopped seeing Arnav at her doorstep.
"Is that you?" Khushi asked.
"I am standing in front of your eyes, then why doubt? Of course, it's me" Arnav said.
"I'm not talking about it. The news channels are talking about a gang Murder. Is that you who did that?" she asked.
"Han it's me..." he didn't hesitate to say that.
"Who are you to do that? Who gave you the right to do that?"
"Who gave Ishan the right to chase you? Who gave his brother the right to wound a girl with acid? Will you ask them the same question?"
Khushi was silent.
"You guys will question only who is answering you kindly, right?"
Khushi looked that somewhere.
"We killed those who are killing the society... we didn't kill innocent people. They are drug Mafia... do you know the effect of the drugs? It kills people alive. It affects their inner organs. Even School children getting affected. Who will stop them? No one will... someone should take the issue in the hand. I did... because I can't ignore the biggest problem of our nation, giving silly excuses..."
"No one will save you if you get caught"
"No need... I know how to save myself. I don't want anyone's help"
"Why, it's only you, when everyone is silent?"
"I don't care who is silent... I will do my duty"
Cutting him,
"Is this your duty? For whom you are doing this duty? for AM?
"Yes, this is my duty... I am doing this for myself... For my satisfaction..."
"It doesn't seem so. You are ruling an Empire... A police officer who gained public support for his loyalty is secretly helping you... A businessman who gained a big reputation in society for his benevolence is guiding you to do the mission... this network seems dangerous"
Cutting her,
"For those who are depriving society"
"I understood that. My question is not about that. I believe there must be a strong reason behind any great activity and the activist. You too should have one... you said an inter-college debate competition is what brought you and Aman Mathur on the same line. Like the same, something should have brought you and AM on the same line. What's that?"
"Have you had dinner?" Arnav asked Coolly.
"If you are not interested to answer my question then leave it but don't divert the topic"
Taking his mobile, Arnav called someone,
"Bring dinner for me and Khushi..." he disconnected the call.
"I didn't divert the topic. It will take the time that's why asked you about the dinner. However, you are not going to leave this issue, without getting answers from me... and I am also not going to drag this out. Let me finish it here itself..."
Arnav opened his phone gallery and showed a photo to Khushi.
"Who is this?" Khushi frowned.
"My younger brother... Dhruv Singh Raizada."
"Where is he?"
"He is no more..."
"What happened to him?" Arnav saw a genuine shock on Khushi's face.
"He was a nice boy. He stepped into the college with his friend Ajith Malhotra with a lot of dreams. Both studied well. Both were very good at sports. They wear adamant to join the same college. As per their wish, they got seats in the same college. But their college life was not how they expected. They were forced to use drugs by their seniors. They were threatened not to say anyone about it. Slowly they got addicted to the drugs. They lost their concentration on their studies. Dhruv's friend Ajith Malhotra is none other than Arjeeth Malhotra's son... I mean AM. He found out about his son's problem. But, he was late... everything slipped from his hands. He could not control his son. He called me and told me about Dhruv. We both decided to lock them in the room. We did that, but we found their lifeless bodies in the room the next day morning."
"What does that mean?"
"They committed suicide as they could not live without drugs. AM lost his only son and I lost my brother. Even after having rage in our hearts, we stood helplessly and could do nothing. That day, we decided, no one should die in this nation because of drugs. That's what we are doing now. AM is spending his earnings not only to help the poor people but also to weed out the drug mafia"
She did not know what to say, how to react.
"Now tell me, Khushi, will you say we are doing wrong? AM is using his money to wash out all the wrongdoers from society. I and Aman are helping him. If you still say we are wrong, let it be. You are a criminology student. You should have taught them to find criminals by their gestures. If you find my gestures like a criminal's... do what you want" he stopped, as that dinner arrived.
NK brought their dinner. He kept it on the table and walked out.
"Start eating," Arnav said.
"I don't feel to eat"
"Why?"
"I just..." she choked.
"I too have emotions... If I start skipping food based on my emotions, I can't even touch food, forget about eating" Arnav chuckled.
Khushi looked at him awe stuck.
"Don't mistake me... I am hungry... excuse me..." Arnav started eating.
Khushi was looking at him without blinking.
"Do you want to know what was the debate that got me close to Aman?" Arnav asked.
Khushi was silent.
"It was about the effects of research. A team talked against using animals for the research. Just to save humans from diseases, torturing innocent animals is a violation. That was the point they took into their hands. I too think they were right"
"Maybe, it's right. But we don't have options other than testing the new medicines on animals"
"Why? Will you kill animals for your selfishness? A few minutes ago you got angry for killing criminals... Won't you show concern for poor animals?"
"Then, what else we can do?"
"I gave a solution to it. That was attracted, Aman"
"What solution did you give?" She asked eagerly.
"Instead of using the poor animals for the research, why not we think of using the rapists? That was the point I put in front of the students"
Khushi was horror-struck. What kind of idea was that? If it happened, it would be the worst punishment for the rapist.
"Do you think any damn rogue will think of raping anyone if it happened?" Arnav asked seriously.
"Why are you thinking so cruelly?"
"Cruel? Like really? Then what about the rape victims? I don't think the torture is even enough for the rapists compared to the torture of the rape victims underwent. It's very less..."
Khushi bewildered. The man who wanted to punish the rapists with the worst punishment would have cheated his sister? She was confused. She didn't have the courage to even question him about it... the girl who didn't hesitate to throw numerous questions at him hesitated to take her sister's name because she lost the guts of hurting him.
Arnav stood up, finishing the dinner.
"Have dinner and sleep" Arnav said and walked.
He stopped and looked at her.
"I hope I have cleared all your doubts..."
Khushi hesitated to even speak.
"Ask me what's there in your mind"
"Don't you love anyone?"
Arnav folded his hands with a smirk.
"When I studied in college a few girls proposed to me. I was not interested at that time. After I become a Gangster, no girl dared love me. If YOU (he stressed) have any idea, I will consider it" he said with a bright smile.
Khushi looked at him blankly.
That was when NK rushed to Arnav and whispered something in his ear.
"We have to go. Good night..." Arnav rushed with NK fast.
Khushi came out of the room and saw them running towards the backyard building. She became curious. She followed them. But to her disappointment, they entered the last room of the corridor. It was at the starting point of the passage that connected the two buildings.
Khushi stood outside and slowly peeped inside. A few doctors were checking someone who was lying on the bed. Khushi ran her eyes. Her eyes widened, seeing the person on the bed.
"Jeeji..." She entered the room shouting.
Making Arnav and NK stunned.
To be continued...
