Part 1
Rouge POV
I sighed as I dragged myself out of bed to get ready for my first day at a new school. This is complete bullshit. It's October and I'm the new kid.
Doesn't matter. I have my pocket knife and phone if anybody wants to mess with me. My mom was asleep on the couch, wine glass in hand and red stain on the floor.
I sighed and made my breakfast. My sister, Camille came downstairs and frantically searched for something.
"Keys are on the table, laptop is in the office." I told her.
"Thanks Rouge." Camille said.
She gave me some cash for after school Incase there was anything I wanted to do and left with her stuff.
I started the walk to school and when I got there, there was a lot of kids. My last school only had twenty including me. This one had hundreds.
I took a deep breath and walked to the front. There, I saw a curly haired blond boy, with purple dyed tips, a red vest, and black tie sitting on a bench reading as other kids laughed at him.
I sat by him. He glanced at me and had a look of fear on his face. I saw he had glasses and freckles. His skin was a milky white and his eyes were a crystal blue.
He got up and walked into the school, shaking. The bell rang and I pushed and shoved my way through the sea of kids. I finally got to my first class and I saw the boy there. I sat by him.
He looked at me and gave me the same scared look.
"What's with the look? I'm not trying to harm you." I told him.
He looked a bit surprised. As if I had told him the world was ending.
"I-I um... I-I know... I just... I'm afraid of other people and it gets hard to make friends." He stuttered.
I smiled. His voice was soft and sweet. He had a slight English accent.
"Well... I'll be your friend. The names Rodger. But, I like to be called Rouge." I told him.
He gave me a warm and friendly smile.
"N-Nathaniel. But, you can call me Nathan." He answered.
I went to shake his hand but he jumped back.
"Woah! You ok? Did I startle you?" I asked.
He nodded with tears in his eyes.
"H-hey I'm sorry... please sit back down I promise I won't do it again."
He slowly sat back down. Class started and the teacher was running late, so I got out my notebook and started writing.
"...what is that?" He asked.
He looked so interested.
"A story I'm writing. It's about this guy, who goes into space and makes friends with aliens!"
I explained the rest of the plot and characters and he seemed genuinely into it.
"Sci-Fi is my favorite genre!" I told him.
"Mine to. I watch The X-Files ever night after I finish my homework." He replied.
"Dude! That's my favorite show!"
We talked about our favorite episodes until the teacher came in. For the rest of class, I found myself staring at Nathan.
Every time I saw his smile, or excitement in his eyes when he got to answer a question, I could help but smile with him and blush.
I felt butterflies in my stomach when he looked at me.
The class had ended and I walked to second period. Throughout the class all I could think of was Nathan.
His cute little glasses, his adorable freckles, his sandy yellow hair. I loved everything about him. I can't though. I only just met him.
The day progressed and soon it was lunch. I sat alone at a table and played my 3DS.
Nathan POV
I walked into the cafeteria and saw Rouge sitting alone. I blushed and stumbled my way over to him.
"C...can I s-sit with you?" I asked in a nervous tone.
"Oh uh... sure!" He said excited.
We both smiled at each other. I sat next to him, trembling. He took out a pocket knife.
"How'd you get that in here?" I asked, carefully switching the blade on.
I ran my fingers over it. It had a blue handle and the word 'River' engraved into it.
"No security. I keep it for protection ever since..." he paused stared at his hands. "E-ever since New York." He said.
I wanted to know what happened but he looked so spooked I decided to leave him alone. I gave it back to him and blushed as our hands touched.
His cheeks turned a bit red to as he smiled. He put the knife back in his pocket and we played Animal Crossing together.
The rest of my day went pretty normally. Good grades, and fun classes. At the end of the day Rouge ran to me.
"Hey."
"Hello."
We stood in awkward silence until he looked to the sky.
"So... um... I-I was gonna go to that fall festival thing tomorrow... wanna... wanna go with me? M-my sister got a job there. She'll get us tickets." He said.
I smiled and laughed nervously.
"Y-Yeah! Sounds like a good time." We exchanged contact information and I walked to my mothers car.
"So, who's the boy?" She asked, teasingly.
"Mother!" I groaned.
"What?"
"H-he's just a friend!" I told her.
She laughed and drove off.
