I sighed as I put my headphones in and Bruno Mars was blasting. My step-mom tapped my knee.

I took one of my headphones out and said, "what?" She said, "we are almost there" I shrugged my shoulders and put my headphone back in.

I fiddled with my dad's dog tags around my neck. My step-mom tapped me again a few minutes later. "What do you want?"  I said getting annoyed.

"Well one we are here and two, are you sure you wanna take those?" I rolled my eyes. "Cool. And yes, Rebecca. I'll take my dad's tags. " She sighed. "You know you can call me Mom right? " I looked at her in disbelief. "Well I would but your not my mom. And my actual mom, who is a deadbeat, yes, was more of a mom that you've ever been to me. So no, Rebecca. I will not call you my mom. And ever since my father died, you pushed me to be like you. I'm not you. But you don't want to show people who you really are."

After that I stepped out of her car and grabbed my stuff. I walked into the camp. This counsellor came up to me and told me about stupid shit and how to do a "black man handshake."

I said bye and went to the dining hall to get my room number. I then saw Logan, the counsellor who talks too much, talking to a black haired girl. She walked away. Then this boy, I think his name is Dariush, I'm not sure. But he came up to me and tried to flirt with me. I rolled my eyes and walked away.

I went to a lady and she asked for my phone. I lied and said, "I don't have one. Sorry. " She said, "ok." I walked away and went to my cabin.

I chose the bottom bunk. I put my stuff on my bed. The black-haired girl came in and put her stuff on the bed next to mine. I waved and said hi. She nodded and pointed to a name on her bed. "Zhenzhen? That's a cool name. Mine is Savannah." I held my hand out and she shook it.

We hung out for a while. Then we went to the bridge. A red haired boy was standing at the bridge as well. He and Zhenzhen made eye contact. Zhenzhen started to blush and looked away immediately. I whisper in her ear, "you like him don't you? " She nodded her head. "I ship you two." I said. Zhenzhen smiled.

We stared at the stars for a while then the boy leaves. Me and Zhenzhen leave after that. We head back to our cabin and say goodnight to each other.

Oh boy this is gonna be a rough summer. But what I didn't know was how right I was.
