5 | the new recruits
Unfortunately, there wasn't any more information that Valka could provide. She closed herself off once you mentioned of her past. Valka was generous enough to have you introduced to the dragons so they could take you back to your ship. It was a bit hard considering you were riding an actual living creature but you managed since you were trained to be athletic.
You landed where you were dropped off originally and greeted the dragon goodbye. Once the dragon was a good distance away, you called in Hiro.
"Where are you at?" you called on the ear piece.
The wind started to pick up and the ship turned off its camouflage, revealing itself. A rope ladder was tossed and you began climbing in. The ship didn't take off until you were completely inside and joined Hiro as his co-pilot.
"Was that a dragon I just saw you ride out on?" Hiro asked with a disbelieved look.
"Yep," you simply answered.
"Weren't we trying to avoid any contact with them?"
"Yep," you repeated.
He gave you an annoyed look, "Will you stop giving me one-word answers?"
"Quiet," you shushed half-jokingly, "I'm focusing."
You heard Hiro scoff slightly, but you were lost in thought. Your train of thought was mostly over the information you just received. Valka seemed deeply distressed and bothered over the heavy guilt she was holding, almost like the twenty-something years have yet to conclude. You just wish she would be more open, but you wouldn't blame her. You were a stranger to her; you just met her.
But who was this Dark Rider? This is the first since you heard of this person. By the sound of Valka, this person is not good news. You wondered how much of a threat this Dark Rider is.
"By the way," Hiro started, "I heard we have new recruits."
You jerked awake, "What?"
Hiro chuckled, "Ana and Elsa sure is in trouble. I heard they selected some new recruits themselves."
You repeated louder, "What!"
You arrived a little later than you would've liked. Poor Hiro had to endure your nagging for the past couple of hours while you were taking it out on his ears of why he didn't let her know sooner. Everyone knew you were the only one in charge of recruits. It was something you have always done. The reason behind it because you would always choose the best teams. Teams that would always win a battle. You and your adoptive mother had the only authorization in the files of every recruitment.
You wondered if your mother had something to do with allowing Elsa and Ana. She tends to be a little careless with the small things like this one. You just hoped you weren't too late with the training.
You rushed out the ship as soon as it landed and went into the training arena while you deactivate your pen and wrist cloth. There you saw what looked like the first training exercise completed and the new agents being dismissed. You were focusing on rushing to the arena that you didn't see someone about to turn the same corner that you were and bumped into that person.
You grunted out as you tired to regain your balance from the hard collusion. Firm hands have already grabbed your upper arms to secure your balance and preventing you from falling. You looked up to unfamiliar, green eyes that seemed to show a flash of irritation, but soon after making eye contact with yours, turned into a pair filled with curiosity.
"Forgive me," you apologize, "I was in a rush and I wasn't really aware of my surroundings. You're not hurt, are you?"
His watching eyes snapped out of thought and he gave a kind smile, "No, no, but I was wondering the same thing."
It was then you realized that he still had a firm grip on you. It wasn't to rough and it stayed at a constant rate of hold. You gently pulled away from him and he easily let you go.
"I'm alright," you spoke, "Thank you for your concern. I have to say, though, you must be one of the new recruits since I haven't seen you around before."
"You're correct," his sickly sweet smile still showed, "My team and I just finished with our training for the day and about to return to our rooms. Is there something you need?"
"No," you shook your head, "I just need to have a word with your trainers about an issue with the head mistress. Continue on your way."
You dismissed and move around him to continued your way. His eyes didn't stop watching until you turned another corner. His sensitive ears picked up movement a long time ago and that same movement happened again when another brunet with yellow eyes spoke up.
"She's a pretty little thing," he smirked, "Are you thinking about bringing a trophy after everything has been settled?"
The brunet with forest green eyes glared at the other and moved swiftly to pin him against a nearby wall. His eyes pierced the amused gold ones, "Unless you want to turn into a pulp early, I suggest you shut your mouth."
"Oh," his eyes gleamed again, "Such a cold look you're giving me. It gives me the chills and I don't get cold." He slipped out of the bigger one gripped as he watched the viking get even more aggravated in amusement. "Too bad you need me though."
The viking was about to unleash his power to shut the puny spirit up but an knife was thrown and stuck in between the two to catch their attention to the strawberry blonde and a blonde with aggravated looks themselves.
"May I remind you to behave on enemy territory?" the archer hissed.
"Calm down, Red," the spirit smirked, "There's no one here but us."
"No, but there could be," she warned, "We need to stick together on this if you want the plan to succeed."
"We're not a team," the viking cut in, "We are only the enemies of the same enemy. Just stick to the plan and we'll succeed." With that, he walked away.
