Rosepaw felt sick in that moment. The world had faded into a slow-motion state, all she could hear being the sound of her own heartbeat.

"Rosepaw!

She turned around to see a blurry figure in font of her. Paying no attention to it, she slowly sat down, more or less basically collapsing.

The last thing she saw was Berrysplash's cream and black pelt racing toward her, and everything faded to black.

Opening her eyes, she took in the familiar-looking stone and twisted bramble walls. Lines of leaves and other plants lined the sides, and she realized she was in the medicine cat den.

The sun shone through the roof and it's orange and red rays of setting slowly faded into he purples and blues of the night. Voices interrupted from outside.

"-Need to start her training tomorrow."

"Rosepaw won't probably be up to it, after what happened earlier."

"Then I guess Shadepaw will have to start without her. Rosepaw is only two moons away from being a warrior. Shadepaw needs to catch up."

She strained her ears to make sure se was hearing correctly. What had happened earlier?

"-But Jayflight was her mentor!-"

A knot formed in her stomach. At those words she remembered.

"We'll have to give her a new mentor. Brightflower, maybe Darkstorm. There's also Burningsun and Goosefeather."

"I think Burningsun would be a good mentor. She has a lot of patience."

"Alright. I'll announce it tomorrow."

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the high rock for a clan meeting!"

Rosepaw weakly padded over to the edge of the medicine den, and watched.

Many cats had sad expressions on their faces. Still grieving for their lost friend, and family member.

Shaking her head, she turned her attention back to Risingstar.

"Because of Jayflight d-death yesterday, Shadepaw will need a new mentor. Burningsun, I think it is time for you to have your first apprenti-"

"Risingstar, I couldn't.. I-I'm expecting kits.."

All heads turned in her direction.

Cheers erupted from the small crowd of cats, and they all rushed to congratulate her.

Rosepaw smiled gratefully. It was about time for new life!
