"I hate this," I said to Fury. "And I also hate you."

"In a few miles, we'll drop you a couple of miles from where the Avengers are being kept. We can't infiltrate the compound but someone with you abilities can," Fury said, completely ignoring my previous comment.

"So," I yelled over the wind. "I just have to get in there and bust out the Avengers? How the hell do I know where their being kept?! How the fuck did they even get caught?! They're the goddamned Avengers?!"

Fury threw me a small device. I caught it and pressed the green button on top. A holographic map showed up of the compound and four red dots in one room.

"I'm assuming that's them."

"Those would be Agent Romanoff, Captain Rogers, Agent Barton and Sargent Barnes."

"Do the Avengers get caught all the time?" I scoffed. "So much for Earth's Mightiest Heroes."

"Sir, we're one klicks away from the drop zone!" The pilot announced.

I grabbed a long sleeved coat and pulled it on. I made sure that my gun was on me along with my knifes and the rest of my mini arsenal.

"So how do we do this?" I asked as the ground came closer and closer. "Do I jump or do I wait for you to land and then get-"

"Alright, Agent. Good luck!" Fury said.

The Quinn Jet didn't slow down so that mean only one option.

I jumped.

You probably thought that I stuck a superhero landing, right? Nope.

I tumbled face first   into a pile of  snow soon after as Fury and his stupid jet took off, leaving me alone in some snow covered forest. You'd think that snow would break the landing but no, its like getting hit in the face by frostbite.

I tasted iron on the tip of my tongue. I spat out some blood. Gods, I would need to have the looked at.

"Agent 20, I'm your supervising officer for this mission. My name is Agent Richards. The compound where four of our assets are being held is due north of you. Once you reach the compound, find the assets. Under no circumstances are you to be compromised. Is that clear, Agent?"

"Clear, Richards. I'll tell you when I get to the compound. Over," I said. I waited for the signal to die out before I muttered curses underneath my breath.

I was wearing a coat and gloves but I was still freezing my ass off. If I got back to S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ, I'm going to make sure that I got rid of this coat. It was only suppose to keep me warm but it was failing miserably.

I should have stayed in that cell.

"Go to Norway, he said. I'm positive about this site, he said. You know what I say, I say Tony screwed up majorly," Clint complained as he sulked in his cell. "That's right. Nobody can hear me."

"We can hear you, Clint," Natasha groaned from her cell. "So any idea why Fury told us to stay put instead of escaping?"

"Does he always complain this much, Steve?" Bucky asked in the adjacent cell.

"Not usually. No."

"He just babbles, I've learned to mostly tune it out," Natasha shrugged as she tried to find a way through these cells that they were held in.

"Hey!"

"Anything in your cell, Rogers?"

"Sorry, Nat," Steve had gave up hours ago trying to find a way out. "Is Fury testing us or something?

The cell was tiny and four walled with no windows, only a large and very indestructible glass panel that shocked them every time that they tried to touch it.

It hurt Bucky too much every time he tried to punch through with his metal arm.

"This sucks," Clint groaned. "Knowing Fury, he's probably testing some new recruit."

"We'll paint Tony's suits hot pink for all I give a damn but we need to find a way out first. They can probably hear us and they have no guards coming through here," Bucky said.

"I sent a distress signal, SHIELD should have gotten it by now," Natasha said. She sat down, trying to figure out who would SHIELD would send to come and rescue them.

Thor was visiting Asgard with Jane. Loki had tagged along with them. Tony was at some conference, probably drunk. Falcon was compromised early during the mission and was sent back. Pietro and Wanda were still back at the Avengers HQ with Vision babysitting them.

"I guess we just wait it out then," Steve said.

**********

I arrived at the compound within minutes off walking through a shit ton of snow.

The compound was directly ahead of me and it was huge. How the hell was I suppose to find the Avengers in there?

I counted at least thirty guards and several dogs on them from where I was hidden. They switched positions every hour or so. Some came through a door on the ground while others came from the main entrance. This sure as hell wasn't gonna be easy. I mean what the fuck was Fury trying to do? Kill me?!

I mean I used to be good but that's before the whole incident five years ago. I just recently got out jail. I wasn't ready to take on a shit ton of guys on my own.

This had better be a test or I was gonna haunt a certain pirate for the rest of my life.

They spoke what I thought was Swedish or something. I could only speak a French and Arabic. I wish I had one of those translator things so that I could at least have a hint on what the I was suppose to do.

These guys didn't look like guards. They wore white scrubs. There was something seriously wrong with this. I'm wearing a coat and gloves yet I'm shivering.

"Agent, Richards. This is Agent 20. I've reached the site. I've confirmed at least thirty hostiles and only two entry points. Guards switch posts every hour. How shall I proceed? Over."

It was quiet for a moment and then I heard Agent Richards speak.

"Wait until nightfall, Agent. Do you have the entry points in sight?"

"Yes, sir. Over."

"Keep an eye on them."

"I need back up."

I was gonna regret this, wasn't I?

"I'm sorry but this is your mission, Agent."

"Bullshit!" I hissed out. "These guys have guns and I have only two 9mm guns and a few knifes How the fuck do I take these guys out? With my superior intellect? This is insanity!"

"No, This is S.H.I.E.L.D. Pull on your big girl pants and do what your told with what you got, Agent 20."

"Can you relay Fury a message for me, Agent Richards?

"Yes."

"Tell him that if I die, I'm going to haunt him for all eternity."

"Very well, we'll be monitoring you. Good luck."

The comm cut out leaving me alone. I knew they could see me via satellite.

So I waited as the sun sunk past the horizon and the shadows grew past me.  The guards rotated once again and I made my move. I used the shadows as camouflage. Quickly, I darted past one guards. I hid behind a crate and pulled out my my gun.

One guys yelled something in Swedish. I held my breath, putting away my gun. I couldn't afford for all of these guys to be on top of me.

I heard his footsteps as he came closer and closer to my spot. I waited till he was close enough.

"He-"

I sprung up and I grabbed his arm, slamming him against the wall. I covered his mouth with my hand as I wrapped my arm around his neck. He struggled as I squeezed with all my might. Within a few seconds he went limp. I stepped away, checking his pulse to make sure he was alright.

Damn, I was sloppy.

Grabbing his hand, I placed it against the glass panel anxiously waiting as the door opened. I didn't hesitate to get inside. I ditched the unconscious guard underneath a stairwell before I opened the map.

"Agent Richards, this is Agent 20. I'm in. Over"

"See, that wasn't so hard. Now just follow the map like a good little agent and avoid hostiles. Once you find the Avengers, get them out of there."

"Roger that, Richards. Over."

"You don't have to say 'over', you know."

"First time in the field, Agent Richards. You can gladly give me a class on field mission communication once this is over."

I heard him sigh through the comm. "Focus one the mission, Agent 20."

"Got it. Over and out."

The map showed a very detailed labyrinth of land and corridors. According to it if I wanted to get to the Avengers, I would have to travel past the security center. Four red blimps glowed as they huddled in one room.

I stuffed it back into my coat and made my way to the security center.

Let's hope that this would work out.

***********

"Any idea when that recruit is coming in, Nat?" Clint asked.

"I don't know, Clint. Could be hours, days, maybe even weeks before they come and get us," she said as she leaned against a wall.

"I say that we should just wait for a guard, let Natasha seduce him and then take him out."

"Why do I have to be the one that has seduce the guard?!" Natasha protested. "Let Steve do it. He's the handsome one here and he has way more crazy fangirls than you do."

"Oh, yeah. Rub more salt in the wound."

"Guys-" Steve tried to get his word in.

"Sorry, Steve but it looks like you're gonna have to work on your moves," Clint smirked as he looked at Bucky who was still sprawled out on the ground. "Plus you already got a bromance going on with that one."

"What's a bromance?" Bucky asked.

"Trust me, Bucky. You don't want to even know."

"A bromance is when-!" Clint started until he was interrupted by Natasha.

"Gentlemen, we can discuss what a bromance is and how many fangirls (or fanboys) each of us has once we get back to-"

An alarm went off, immediately putting the compound on a lockdown mode.

"Well, there's our ride."

Several guards ran past them and into the darker corridor like a bunch of idiots.

Natasha heard a few grunts and groans from the other hallway and then a guard flew past them, skidding as he landed on his face. Two more backup and shot into the corridor.

It wasn't soon after, a black figure ran out of the hallway and dodged the bullets.

They then grabbed the barrel of the gun and pointed it upwards as they kicked the guard in the gut and then the face, knocking him into the wall. He slumped onto the floor unconscious.

The third guard had recovered bringing out a switch blade. He swung at the recruit nicking them in the shoulder. They hissed, looking down at their shoulder. That was a mistake because one guard got back up, kicking them in the back. The recruit hit the wall head first. They went down like a sack of bricks, hitting the floor with a thud.

"Worst rescue ever," Clint said as he anxiously waited for the figure to get back up. "Seriously, Fury?"

The third and first guard moved in for the kill, the one with the knife raised it about to stab them.

Just as he was about to bring down the knife, the figure kicked him where the sun didn't shine allowing the knife to fall into their hands. They then kicked him in the knee cap, causing him to scream out in pain.

Without even waiting  they jumped back up and punched him in the temple. He slumped onto the floor.

The first guard had backed up and began to run away when the figure spotted him. There was clearly no hesitation when if threw the knife at the first guard who ran. Nobody could see where they knife landed but they could hear the screams of the guard. The black figure walked over, grabbing him by his arm, and dragged him to the key pad that opened their cells.

"Okay, so who are you?" Clint asked punching a guard in the face.

"According to S.H.I.E.L.D. I'm Agent 20 and I'm here to basically bail you guys out," She said.

"Not too bad, kid" Agent Barton said. "With some training and a little bit of guidance, you'll be a fine agent."

"You were sloppy," Nat said as she effortlessly took down two guards. "If it was me judging you, you would have failed."

"Cut the kid some slack, Romanoff." Captain Rogers said. "She got this far. That farther than most recruits would've gotten on their own."

"Thanks," I nodded. "Go left and then strait and you should find the guards room. The Captain's shield and you're bow are over there. I was able to snag a few of these though," I pulled out a couple of guns and knifes that I was able to hide.

Quickly, I handed it to them.

"You're ride is outside, about two klicks away from here," I said.

Just before I was going to take off Captain America stopped me.

"Wait! What about you?"

"Don't be an idiot, Sir. I'll handle myself. You guys are just part of my mission. Also, this building is going to blow in exactly twenty minutes. I suggest you run," I said and then quickly turned on my heels, running towards the control room where my next part of the mission was.

***********

"Well, she has potential," Clint said as he strapped on his arrows. "Do you think Fury sent her or she was just unlucky?"

"With us there are no coincidences," Natasha said as she took down a couple of guards that blocked their exit. "We'll talk to Fury about this later."

Captain America kicked down the locked door while Bucky plowed through and shot the remaining guards. Once they were out in the snow, they made a break for it.

"Think she made it?" Asked Steve.

He was answered by a large explosion that  sent them flying as the compound they had been held at went up in smoke and ashes. It looked like nobody would have been able to survive that.

"Well, there's your answer," Clint groaned as he felt his side hurt. "Poor, kid."

Why was it he was the one that always got hurt. Laila would kill him if she found another life threatening sound on his body.

"I wouldn't think too much about it, Steve. She's an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.," Bucky said as he continued to run.

"I don't know, Buck. That explosion was planted to get rid of the evidence. There's no way someone could survive that. We should go back!"

"Stick to the plan, Rogers," Natasha said. "Something told me that she got out.

***********

"Just load already!" I yelled at the computed.

So after I freed the Avengers and guided them to their weapons, I was greeted but a very angry twenty guards who didn't appreciate me trying to get past them.

In the past, I wouldn't have hesitated to use my powers. I could have easily made them drop onto the ground like flies.

However, this time it was just my fists and my knives. I had ran out of ammo a while back.

I was at the control panel. A very menacing countdown was plastered all over the screen. Working fast, I plugged in the drive and searched for the files that Agent Richards wanted.

"Agent 20, you have exactly seven minutes before that compound blows. Do you have the files?"

"I'm kinda working on it!" I snapped back.

I pressed the enter key as the files pertaining to the list of subject and their abilities slowly downloaded into the computer.

"For a so called state of the art compound, these guys sure aren't state of the art," I scoffed.

"Five minutes and thirty seconds till emergency shut down," the robotic voice said over the speakers. I had a bad feeling the shut down didn't mean just cutting out the power.

"Thanks," I growled as I urged the files to download faster. The damn thing was still at fifty fucking percent.

"Four minutes until until emergency shut down."

"Ah, fuck this!" I growled. "Just load already."

Fourth percent.

"Three minutes and thirty seconds till emergency shut down."

Thirty percent.

"Three minutes till emergency shut down."

Twenty percent.

"Two minutes and thirty seconds till emergency shut down."

Ten percent.

"Two minutes until emergency shut down."

The damn file had finally loaded. I didn't bother to shut down the computed because it was probably gonna be destroyed by the fiery inferno that was gonna take place any time soon. Like, two minutes soon.

I ran as if hellhounds were chasing me.

Most of the guards had been either taken out or evacuated. Lucky me for being the last one out.

"One minute and thirty seconds till emergency shut down."

"Get out of there, Agent!" Agent Richards yelled. "You won't be able to clear the blast zone at this rate!"

"Appreciate the optimism, sir but I'm too busy running for my life!"

Once I found the entrance, I didn't hesitate to blow past it and into the forest.

I didn't look back, I followed the footprints of The Avengers as they lead back to the Quinn jet that would be waiting for them.

The building exploded behind me.

I dived into the snow, covering my head and neck as I waited until the explosions finally died down.

How did action movie heroes not look back?

The searing heat had died down leaving me alone in the snow as the ashes fell around me.

This felt all too familiar.

I found some of the courage to stand up as light shined upon me.

Thankfully it was a Quinn jet and thankfully Fury wast there.

"Congratulations, Agent. You just successfully completed your first mission," Fury said.

"I hate you so much right now."
