I was working with Vanessa when Dan came over. I grinned upon seeing him

"Hey, I thought you were seeing a movie with Nate." I gave him a quick kiss and went back to making a latee

"I was hoping to speak with you and or Vanessa." speaking of, Vanessa returned

"Hey, Dan, what's up."

"Jenny quit working for Eleanor, and she with this model friend of hers plan to this guerrilla fashion show, whatever that means." he sighed rubbing his face.

"I'm gonna guess that is a rhetorical question and you don't actually care." i caught that some was calling me over.

"Excuse me." I went to deal with the customer, and then another one and then another one before I came back over. By the time I got back Rufus was there

"Hi." I started making up what was ordered "I would chat but the place has been super busy and I'm screwed if I don't sort out these customers and get back to the loft to change for the gala. Has Hannah or Rex called you, they should be here by now." I turned at a very worried three.

"What?"

"I will stay until Hannah and Rex show up, you go get ready for the gala and deal with Jenny." Vanessa states

"Vanessa you're the best. Okay, the first order is for the funny toupee guy. The second is for the nice elderly women and the third is for the loner at the far end." I give her a hug and grab my things. Dab, Rufus and i left. As we were coming up on the apartment building. I saw Nate and Jenny.

"Isn't that Nate and Jenny?" i pointed over just as the got into the van.

"Hey!" we yelled running over but they drove away.

"Hi, Rosalie Bass." I breathed to the guard. fixing my dress he nodded an I walked the carpet. Once inside I found my father.

"Dad, hi."

"You're here, where is your brother and Serena?" he questioned kissing my cheek

"I have no idea, today is just a mush of being busy and a whole lot of drama." He wrapped a arm around me and I calmed down.

"Rosalie, I'm glad you made it." Lilly smiled

"Wouldn't miss it." I answered catching my breath and my thoughts well I was trying to anyway

"I know and I'm happy to see Nate here too, you know he's so kind he brought Jenny along as well." she smiled

"Jenny? Jenny's here. I'll be right back." I went to find them. Boy did I find them kissing and someone taking a picture. I called Dan.

"Rose now's not a good time." he answered clearly in a little distress

"I found Jenny, she's here at the gala, with Nate." I ignored his initial answer of the phone call and just straight out told him.

"Oh that's that good. We'll be right there." I nodded to myself and waited. I paced back and forth

"Sweetheart, is everything, okay?" Dad asked

"No, everything is not okay. Is this how you felt when I was younger of doing god knows what? Seeing pictures of me in magazines with mine and Chuck's later exploits?" he looked amused

"It's not funny, Jenny is here with Nate who is a good guy in general but he has made some questionable decisions and she's 15 and here kissing him. Dan probably already knows about it by now from Gossip girl and is gonna totally hate me for not telling him straight away. Like when I told him she was here. I feel sick, nervous, wracked with guilt. I should  have punched his lights out as soon as I clapped my eyes on them. In fact I might still do that." I went to walk off but Dad stopped me.

"Breathe, Rose. You getting stressed isn't going to help anyone. Go find a quiet spot and calm down." he sent me off. I did so and took a deep breathe

"Rose." I turned and saw Dan

"Dan, I need to tell you something."

"Nate and Jenny kissing yeah I saw it. Now I've found you. I'm going to find Nate, keep an eye out for Jenny okay."

"OK. Wait do you hate me for not telling you sooner about the kiss?" I question nervously

"What? No. I didn't give you a chance to say anything else. Vanessa and my Dad are here as well just keep a look out." I nodded and he left. I  walked around and saw Vanessa.

"V." I breathed catching her up.

"Can I have you attention please." Everyone went quiet "As head of the New York philanthropic Society presenting this award is my favourite duty. Please join me in congratulating Lily and Bart Bass." I clapped

"Lily and Bart Bass have funded the construction of clinics and hospitals in Equatorial Guinea, Sri Lanka..." The lights went out "I'm sorry there seems to be some sort of technical difficulties." The screens change

Introducing J Humphrey designs Punk music started to play.

"Oh lord." i huffed. I watched the show , the models came out and stood on tables throwing polaroids I picked one up

'Jenny Humphrey designs' with her phone number. I admit I was impressed then her little bitchy model friend came in. Jenny eventually came out and she kissed Nate again. I looked at Vanessa.

"Oh no, Vanessa." she walked past them. Jenny went to follow her but Nate tried to stop her, which annoyed her and she went to catch her friend up. I however went up to Nate and punched him, knocking him to the ground.

"Yeah. I should have done that earlier."  The light's came back on. I went to find my dad while clutching my knuckles.

"Hey." I mumbled "Look, I know your gonna be mad but can I at least explain?"

"Rosalie, are you okay?" she hugged me

"I'm getting a hug. Why am I getting a hug and not yelled at? I punched a guy in front of a dozen press members."

"We'll kill that story, besides you were sticking up for a friend and your boyfriend I presume." Dad replied

"Yeah."

"Besides I actually kind of enjoyed it." Lily smiled , I chuckled "Go find Dan and go home, ice your knuckles and you'll be fine. Nice right hook by the way."

"Thank you. night Dad, Lily"

"Goodnight, sweetheart." I left the gala and went to find Dan, which I did. He just came off the phone and leaned against the wall.

"Hey, everything okay?" I wondered

"Um. No, no, not really." he replied

"If this is about Jenny. She'll probably get in some trouble for disrupting but honestly I think everyone in there was kind of relieved. Well aside from the kissing Nate thing, twice."

"No, I know. Jenny will be fine. Jenny will be great. Because Jenny always does what she has to, to get what she wants."

"Okay, you lost me a little." I replied scratching my head

"Tonight my sister alienated everyone in her life. But tomorrow she's gonna be in the New York times. I can't help but wonder if she's the one with all the guts in the family." he admitted

"Now that is not true. You Daniel Humphrey strutted into the family apartment and in front of my Dad pulled me up snogged me and declared you loved me, then literally swept me off my feet. That is guts. What else is going on?" I answer knowing there was something else I was missing. It wasn't just about Jenny's antics

"Nothing. The Humphrey's spoiled Lily's night. I don't want to spoil yours." he tried to dismiss it but I wasn't about to let it go

"Dan. I just punched Nate for making out with your 15 yr old sister. I care about you. Tell me what's wrong?" I insisted

"I'm not gonna get into Yale. Or any school with a decent writing program."

"Dan, that is not true."

"It is and I'll get used to the idea, come on I'll take you home." he wrapped his arm around me and guided me away not letting me say anything else on the matter.

The next morning there was a knock on the door, I opened it and there stood Dan.

"Hey, come in." I stepped aside.

"There is something I need to tell you." he began "A while back, I shadowed your brother in an attempt to get a new angle and insertion for my writing."

"Okay." i nod, not completely sure why he was telling me.

"I learned a couple of things and I decided not to submit what i learnt. But I'm taking a bold step but before I did. I want you to have a copy."

"Cause that's not scary at all." I chuckle

"Rosie." he sighs

"Are you gonna send it in anyway despite what I say?" I questioned tilting my head slightly. He cleared his throat before answering.

"Yes."

"Okay, I understand." i took the manila envelope off him

"That's it?"

"As a future journalist there is gonna be things that us writes will have to write and publish for various reasons. Some of them we won't like. I can't hinder you just like I hope if the shoes is ever on the other foot, you won't hinder me."

"Deal. I will see you later." he kissed me and then left. I went into my room room and read what I had been given.

As soon as I finished I went to find my brother. he was at the family apartment, he was in is room getting ready to leave

"Rose, to what do I owe the pleasure." I wrapped my arms around him and didn't say a word "Rose is everything okay?"

"I love you, you know that right?"

"Hey, what's this about?" he questioned turning  and holding me at arms length

"Nothing, it's just I know I don't say it much and I know we have our fights and disagreements but I do love you." I tell him

"I love you too, Rosie." I hugged him again and he relaxed accepting it fully.
