Q 1 : Please introduce yourself.
Ans 1 : Hi, I'm Anne, I'm an amateur writer and my works include a romcom novelette; Hate me all you want and a classic fairytale retelling short story; Happily ever after is the sweetest con.
Q 2 : When did you join Wattpad and why?
Ans 2 : I joined Wattpad on 6th August, before that also I used Wattpad but from other account I started that in 2017, so I read some stories on Wattpad and I liked how the readers could interact with the writers so I finally when I decided to publish my works, took a lot of guts but I did and yeah I found some awesome people who really supported my work.
Q 3 : What was your first story, and is it still published? Are you still working on it?
Ans 3 : My first story was something I wrote in eight grade for an english assignment haha, but the first work which I wrote seriously is a teen fic novel with sci-fi elements, it's still incomplete tho, I'm working on it and no it's not published.
Q 4 : How many works do you have in drafts? Do you have lots of ideas for stories or very few?
Ans 4 : I currently have only one work in drafts of my novel which I am working on. I'm planning to publish it on Wattpad, but well I'm a senior and I have boards this year so I want to focus on my studies more and publish next year with proper edits and everything. I wanna do my novel justice. I have some ideas yes, currently I have 2 other ideas for a story but I'm not working on them. I think it's better to focus on one project at a time.
Q 5 : Do you plan on becoming a published writer? With which story/stories.
Ans 5 : Yes I would love to be a published writer of the novel I'm working on. I think it's plot has potential and if it could ever get published it would be awesome. I did get an offer from a small company here to adapt my book Hate me all you want, but later I realised they just wanted to buy my story and they weren't interested in anything else. So to all writers on Wattpad, yes, they are people other than Wattpad themselves who will look at your books and offer deals but beware and read everything carefully before agreeing to anything!
Q 6 : What inspired your story? Is there anyone it is dedicated to?
Ans 6 : I was writing a very grim chapter for my novel. It was so sad that it made me cry, which is when I realised that many people read for entertainment only so I decided to craft a book that was funny, fluffy and cute and that's how Hate me all you want came into picture! It's dedicated to 10 different people, who've helped me during my writing journey, basically my early supporters and my bestie!
Q 7 : How long have you been writing? If it's completed, how long did it take or when did you finish it?
Ans 7 : I've been writing properly since umm 6-7 months now and yes two of my projects are completed and can be found on my profile page. Hate me all you want took approx 20 days to write while Happily ever after is the sweetest con took only 4 days because it's very small but I had fun writing it and I hope the readers like reading it!
Q 8 : Who's your favorite character in your story and why?
Ans 8 : My favorite character is Bella Carter in Hate me all you want. It's because I'm so much like her and she's so relatable to me. You know that moment when you're the only single person in your entire group and you don't like your best friend's bf but you can't say anything because she'll think you're jealous so you're just left third-wheeling. That's been me so many times it's kinda sad at this point and the same thing happens with Bella and Alexis is so naive sometimes and Bella knows she's wrong but she doesn't say anything for her sake.
Q 9 : What's your favorite scene in your story and why? Describe it.
Ans 9 : My fav scene would be the one where Ryder, my main protagonist; Lucas's best friend and him are having a conversation in chapter 4. Ryder is trying to convince Lucas to be in a relationship but Lucas is very against it because of his traumatic past and so he stubbornly argues with him and I just resonate with their conversation so much. It's very meaningful and I'm actually happy with the way it came out!
Q 10 : What was the first response you got when you first published your books?
Ans 10 : So well initially at least before the book reached 100 views, which was a very slow process honestly, but finally when I got my first comments the readers were quite supportive. They told me that my story was relatable and interesting and they also pointed out some paragraphs where they thought I described the scene well!
Q 11 : Did you ever face criticism? If yes, how did you overcome it?
Ans 11 : Obviously I did face criticism, one thing writers need to understand is that your book is not suitable for everyone, so there will be people who will not like it. I faced criticism mostly for my sentence structuring, the people who pointed it out to me I thanked them and then edited my work. There was another user who had a problem with my character and yelled at me but then they told me it reminded them of their ex so it made them angry so people have different reasons to not like you and your work and it's okay. You can't impress everyone!
But you can definitely work harder and become better!
Q 12 : How do you handle writer's block?
Ans 12 : Ooh nice question I don't get writer's block often but when I do I read some writing prompts from websites or I just think about my story and go like what is the most unexpected thing to happen to my character, something they didn't think will happen again and then I write that. So yeah these are my tips!
Q 13 : When did you start writing either on this platform or in a normal way?
Ans 13 : I started writing normally ofcourse it took a lot of guts to put myself out there and publish on this platform. But it's given me great exposure as to what goes around a reader's head for which I am very grateful!
Q 14 : Is there any advice you would like to give to teenagers out there?
Ans 14 : Yeah just don't take any criticisms to your heart and think twice before submitting your work to anyone. Also just don't spread hate and it's hard to get noticed so have patience and faith in your story and just keep writing, if you stop you'll never improve.
