Chapter 27
"Luke I cannot believe you. I seriously need to get out of here."
"No, Tan." His hand softly grips mine, stopping me in my place as he pulls me towards him. "Please just, please stay."
"Luke, we haven't been okay for weeks."
"We can fix it."
I sigh quietly, watching him
cautiously as my eyes search his once again.
"I- you hurt me, a lot." The words come out just above a whisper as my voice breaks. I mentally want to scream at myself for crying again, especially in front of him but I can't help it.
"I know, I really am sorry. I didn't mean to say anything I did." I just stand still, my hand still in his, letting my eyes search his as I think of what to say.
I just wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer to me as I rest my head on his shoulder, tucked into his neck instead of speaking.
I let my eyes close, the tears still running down my face as he wraps his arms tightly around my waist, just keeping me close to him.
I can't help but relish in the feeling of his arms wrapped around me. I had gotten so used to his touch that when he wasn't around, I felt like something was physically missing.
We both just stand there in silence, neither of us saying anything but I feel his hand run gently across my back. I sigh softly, listening to the sound of his breathing as I try to calm myself down.
My heart constricts when I try pull back slightly but his arms remain tightly wrapped around my body.
I know I should probably leave his room but something inside me craves his company and the feeling of his arms around me while he stands so close to me.
"Please?" His voice comes out lower than before, almost trying to hide the crack in his voice.
I let his peppermint and vanilla smell invade my senses as I think about what he just said.
"We'll talk when I get back yeah?" I whisper softly but I know he can hear since I'm so close to him.
I feel his head nod against mine, lifting some of the heaviness off of me. Maybe things will be all right eventually.

"So you know how Willie's been teaching me how to skate?"
"Mmh?"
"Well, I mean he's trying, I'm still not very good but I think I'm getting better."
"Yeah?"
"Tan, what's on your mind?" I take my gaze off the car window and off the moving scenery before looking at Alex as he turns to face me at a stoplight.
"I- nothing, go on." I watch as he looks at me hesitantly before turning his gaze back onto the road.
"Okay, Um well he taught me this basic kick flip, which is anything but basic but whatever. Anyways, I suck at skating, so I just gave up and watched him try this new hard flip thing he's been trying to get. He told me if he landed it, I'd have to kiss him. He kind of fell out of it, but I kissed him anyways."
I tried my best to stay focused on Alex's story, which was beyond adorable and I know I would gush over it non stop if I didn't have Luke on my mind. I can see how happy he is with Willie and I don't want my problems to affect the one good thing in his life right now.
I tap my fingers unknowingly against the side panel of the door, contemplating whether I should tell Alex or not about Luke, but he cuts my thoughts off when he speaks again.
"Are you sure you don't wanna talk about whatever's on your mind? You know you can tell me anyt-"
"I kissed Luke!" I couldn't help the words that I blurted out, it's almost like they had a mind of their own, dying to escape.
"You what?!" Alex slammed on breaks in shock making me grip onto the seat.
"I kissed Luke." This time the words escaped my lips in a whisper, trying to let myself and Alex comprehend what I just said.
"What do you mean you kissed Luke?"
"I kissed him Al."
"Like last month and you're only telling me now?" I can sense the shock and confusion in his tone when he responds. I sigh softly, shaking my head as I drop my gaze. "How? Why?"
"I don't even know what to tell you, it's like last night, one second I was falling down the stairs, the next I was against his bedroom door with his lips against mine." I blurt the words out quickly, not knowing what else to say. I sigh when he takes his foot off the break accelerating towards airport parking lot. "Are you going to say anything?"
"I'm confused."
"Likewise." I can't help but cover my face with both of my hand as I groan into them. "He wants to fix things."
"Tan, do you think that's a good idea, you know, to just run back to him like that, after everything he's done to you?"
"I don't know what's right or wrong anymore Al, that's why I'm going home. I have to clear my head and I can't do that here, look what it lead to last night and it only left me more confused than before."
"I'm sorry, I'm just really angry at Luke. He doesn't deserve you after treating you the way he did." I sigh at his words, understanding where he's coming from.
"Al, you have got to trust me with this one yeah? I'm not saying that I'm just going to fall back into his arms as soon as I'm back, I'm just confused."
He puts the car into park as he stops in the airport parking lot. The two of us climb out of the car, him grabbing my suitcase while I take my overnight bag and drape it around my shoulder.
"I can take that you know?"
"Oh please, sure you can." He says teasingly, making me pout before grabbing his hand in mine as we walk into the airport and towards the counter to book in my luggage. "Are you going to go through security now?"
I can hear the sadness in his voice and I turn to see his expression mirror the same emotion.
"Yeah, you're coming with me though."
"I don't think I-" he stops as I lift up the Gate Pass that my parents had gotten for Alex as well.
"They know how much we need each other."
"Speak for yourself, it's how much you need me." He says sarcastically making us both laugh as we go through security and towards the gate I'm boarding at.
Alex and I decided to sit down at one of the coffee shops for a while until my flight was called. It was going to be so hard to be away from him for so long again, at least after living with him for just less than three quarters of the year but I knew it would be worth it, I hope.
"Good Evening. Passengers for flight GA 281 to London, please go to gate 26 to board the plane. Please have your boarding pass and identification ready. Thank you."
"I don't want you to leave."
"I'm going to miss you so much Al, you know that right?"
"I don't know if I can handle being away from you so long."
"We didn't see each other for two years remember?" I say giggling softly as I squeeze his hand.
"Worst time of my life." He scoffs making me roll my eyes before dropping my bag at my feet and wrapping my arms around him.
"You're going to make us both cry." I say huffing as I hold him tightly against me, not wanting to let go.
"Too late." I pull back slightly to see the tears in his eyes, making us both laugh at each other through the tears.
"Once again Ladies and Gentlemen, London flight GA 281, is closing doors in five minutes. London flight GA 281 is at its final boarding call. Thank you."
"As much as I want to keep you here, If you don't leave now, you're going to miss your flight." I squeeze him tightly once more before pulling back and wiping my eyes with my sleeves as I nod.
"I love you Al, everything's going to be okay. Only a call away remember?"
"I love you too, call me as soon as you land yeah?" I nod with a smile, winking at him before picking up my bag.
"Catch you on the flip side."
