Chapter 33 // Reagan

•Calum

Cassidy was sitting cross-legged on the couch, a porcelain bowl filled with cereal on her lap. She was dressed in a pair of sweatpants and a white tank top that was naturally bunched up at the end, revealing a tiny part of her sun-kissed skin. She was so beautiful, even when she was just lounging around without any effort.

I could feel my heartbeat quicken just from viewing her appear to be so comfortable. A beam of light from the large window was shining on her face, making her seem to glow in a heavenly manner. It seemed pretty accurate, since I think she is an angel. Especially when she eats her cereal in small little bites with her lips just barely curved into a smile as she watches something mildly entertaining on the television.

She looked happy. And that makes me happy.

"Morning, baby," I finally greeted, stepping out from the bedroom's doorway to stroll over towards her.

Cassidy's eyes lit up with joy at the sight of me. I perched down on the cushion next to her, bending my head down to plant a kiss on her forehead.

"Hi, Cal," Cassidy nearly exclaimed, scooping up some more of the cereal and lifting it to my lips, which I gladly took a bite of.

"You're so cute," I blurted out, since I found the almost motherly-like action to be absolutely adorable. "What are you doing today?"

She leaned her head back in frustration, letting out a groan under his breath. "I have to do this stupid photo-shoot for a magazine today. And then I just got a call from my dentist that they are pushing my wisdom teeth removal for Thursday, so I'm going to have to get surgery even sooner now which is just fantastic."

I couldn't help but laugh at the mere thought of her when she's going to talk incoherently and be hilarious while under all of the dentist drugs. "I'm sure it will all go smoothly though, Cass. And I bet you're still going to look great even when you resemble a chipmunk."

"Thanks," She replied completely sarcastically, rolling her eyes at me. "Will you be able to drive me there though? I don't think I can drive when I'm on laughing gas. I mean, I can always ask Bree if you're in the studio or something-"

"Cass," I said firmly, interrupting her from rambling. I placed my hand on her thigh, giving it a slight squeeze. "Of course I'll drive you. And I'm in the studio tomorrow so I will be free Thursday. I got you."

She grinned, kissing my cheek before she leaped to her feet. "Thank you so much. I have to get to my shoot early so they can do all my hair and make-up. You should invite the boys over or something."

"Maybe I will," I agreed, thinking that it would be nice to see my friends since I haven't had any proper guy time in awhile.

Michael's jaw dropped, letting his mouth hang open as he gaped at me. "Are you kidding me?"

I shrugged nonchalantly. "C'mon, you know it's true."

He shook his head back and forth, crossing his arms across his chest. "No, it's not. I would totally beat you at a dance battle."

"But Calum has better hip rotations," Luke argued, shoving some more pretzels into his mouth. He chewed on the snack loudly. "You kind of look like a snake when you dance, Mikey."

Michael rolled his eyes at him, throwing the pillow he was sitting on at Luke's face. The four of us all chuckled in unison. I've missed our stupid conversations, and I've missed living with them. Of course I wouldn't trade up the opportunity to live with my girl, but it scared me that someday we're all going to live separately and be settled down.

A knock on the door interrupted our nonsense chat, and I pressed my palms into the sofa to aid me in standing up. I sauntered over towards the front door, opening it up hesitantly. Reagan was standing there on my doorstep.

I shut the door closed again immediately.

She pushed it open with force, making me growl underneath my breath. "What are you doing here?" I interrogated with irritation clearly evident in my tone.

"Well I was kind of in the mood to do something. Or rather, someone," Reagan purred, placing her hand on my shoulder. The boys all cackled from the living room, placing their hands over their mouths to smother the sound. But she definitely noticed them. "Oh, I didn't realize they were over."

"Actually we were just about to leave," Ashton stated quickly, standing up with Michael and Luke following him. They were all still hysterical. "Have fun, Cal."

"No, you guys stay! Reagan is the one who should be leaving," I insisted, but they just shook their heads, still snickering as they ran out my front door. "I hate all of you!"

I turned back around to face Reagan, who now had her hands on hips. "Why do you want me to leave? We have the house to ourselves. And you haven't asked me to come over in awhile, so I'm sure you've missed me."

Her fingers were toying with the bottom of my t-shirt and I swatted them away from me. "Actually, I haven't. I haven't missed you at all."

She laughed, coming closer to me and pressing her lips to my neck. It felt nothing like the way Cassidy kissed my skin, and it didn't even give me any pleasure. In fact, it made me cringe away from her due to how uncomfortable I was.

"Reagan, stop. I have a girlfriend now," I informed her, distancing myself from her even more.

Reagan's mouth dropped wide open, similar to how Michael had looked earlier. "Am I hearing correctly? Did Calum Hood finally learn about commitment?"

I huffed. I was only pretending to be offended. I knew I was awful to girls that I hooked up with in the past and that I would have never expected myself to actually commit to one person. But everything was different when it came to Cassidy.

"Yeah, I did," I muttered, making her eyebrows raise up in surprise. "Don't look so jealous, Ray. Neither of us ever had any feelings other than lust for each other."

She chuckled in a condescending manner, leaning against the kitchen counter as if she was entirely comfortable with being in my home. "Oh honey, I'm very aware of that. I would never want to date an asshole like you. But I'm happy for you."

"That's what every jealous girl says," I protested, scowling at her. I just wanted her to leave.

Reagan smiled, an actual true smile which I have never seen before. "That is usually true, but I mean it. I'm happy you've finally fallen in love, Calum. It will be good for you. You're going to finally lose your famous-rock star-ego thing you've had."

I wasn't offended by that either. I knew that when I first got a taste of fame I made some bad decisions and took advantage of that, but being around Cassidy has completely reminded me of my past. She has made me a better person.

"I'm not in love, though," I reminded her. It was too soon to fall in love. I wasn't sure if I was ready for it. And I had no clue of what love even felt like.

Reagan shot me a look. "Keep telling yourself that, Calum," She snidely remarked. "If you weren't in love with this girl we would have been in the bedroom right now. Who even is she?"

"Cassidy," I explained. Her name flowed off of my tongue with ease and it instantly caused my heart to bubble with even something as simple as thinking of her. Maybe, just maybe, I was already falling for her.

Reagan pushed a lock of her hair behind her ear, a grin spreading onto her face. "Oh sweetie, I could tell you loved her even way back to weeks ago when she walked in on us. You're such an idiot."

I gulped. Reagan was planting all of these thoughts into my brain that I've never even processed before. All I knew for certain was that Cassidy made me the happiest I've ever been. Jesus Christ, I'm such a sap.

I opened my mouth to ask her if she had ever been in love, but I stopped dead in my tracks when my beautiful girlfriend walked through the door, her eyes widening at the sight unraveling in front of her.
