14-The common cold, how I met your...well you and the idiot and no way
Alex's pov
Getting sick...to put it simply, it sucks.
When we first moved in together, we all agreed that if one of us got sick, as in a respectful level of sick, that person would have the right to be a whining little kid without getting hit with a chair as well as being nursed by one or both roommates.
Mingyu always feared being sick, since he strongly believes me and Wonwoo would try to poison him or accidentally explode the kitchen. Basically, he thinks we're going to kill him in the process. Thankfully for him, he doesn't get sick very often, which seems so unbelievable due to his certain unhygienic habits. For us, Mingyu's rare sick state is also great, for the simple reason that no one has the patience to put up with it.
In my case, I get clumsy. Not the general knock-over-or-break-something clumsy. I'm talking about over the edge, never get out of the bed, catastrophically clumsy, where walking is almost impossible without falling on my face. I also get very sleepy too and I even managed to fall asleep on the bathroom floor. Since my brain can't focus on anything at all, the most basic tasks become impossible. This leaves my roommates the mission to drag me around the apartment and making sure that I don't trip over my feet. They treat me like a walking disaster baby in need of supervision.
Thankfully, I'm not the one who is sick this time.
Wonwoo is the most prone to sickness out of the three of us. He's not as annoying as Mingyu, and the thought of throwing him out of a window never even crossed my mind. He's just a giant whining child in need of caring. Feed him and wrap him in blankets like a burrito and he will be fine...eventually.
Two days ago, Wonwoo came down with a cold, forcing me and Mingyu to run around trying to fulfill the huge child's wishes. This morning since we all had classes, we had to decide which one of us had to stay behind to care for our sick roommate. It wasn't much of a discussion since Mingyu argued that Wonwoo was my boyfriend, therefore I should stay with him in both sickness and health. After informing him that was only valid when it comes to marriage, I agreed to stay behind since I didn't feel like going to class anyway.
Which is why I am now trying to convince the said sick child to eat the goddamm soup Mingyu made him this morning.
"Eat it!"
"No!"
"Wonwoo!"
"Why are you doing this to me?" he groaned.
"I'm just following Mingyu's mum's orders. Now eat the soup!"
"...do I have too?"
"Would you rather have Mingyu feeding you instead?"
"Fine!"
I'm starting to reconsider if missing classes was worth it when I have to deal with the gigantic infant lying in his bed, all wrapped up in blankets.
"Why did Mingyu call his mum?" Wonwoo asked. His voice sounded so constipated and rough, it was barely understandable.
"'Cause neither me nor Mingyu are experts in taking care of sick people and since you've been ill for the last two days, we needed the opinion of a professional."
"Makes sense..." Wonwoo nodded. "Hey, remember when Mingyu's mum came to visit for the first time?"
After living with Wonwoo and Mingyu for six months, we all had grown used to each other. Expect none of us had actually break the news to our parents about our roommate arrangement. One day, Mingyu got a pleasant surprise when his mum knocked on our door. She was, of course, delighted to see her very adult and independent son with his brand new apartment...until she noticed his panicked face, followed by the wide-eyed girl sitting on the couch, who just happened to be me. And if that wasn't enough to confuse her, in that very moment comes out of the bathroom a shirtless Wonwoo, shocking both her and me. To be honest, I don't think he was counting on anyone being in the living room at that time.
After the initial shock, and ordering Wonwoo to put on some clothes, Mingyu's mum forced the three of us to sit on the couch and explain to her what the hell was going on, leading to yet another awkward moment, full of stuttering, interruptions and nonsense explanations. In the end, she actually accepted our living situation and even stayed for dinner.
"That was the second most awkward moment of my life. It's kinda of hard to forget that!"
"Second?"
"Yeah, the first one was meeting you two!"
That was definitely the beginning of the weirdest and yet somehow the best time in my life.
I had just arrived to my supposed apartment, which I had bought all by myself, quite possibly the most adult thing that I have ever done so far. Expecting to be greeted only by real estate agent, I was surprised to see another a tall boy around my age there. And from what I caught of their conversation, he was going to buy this apartment too.
"Hmm...what's going on?" I inquired, making the tall boy look my way. Now that I observe him closely, his face reminds me of a puppy. And I just made that puppy confused.
"Good morning, you must be the other buyer!" The lady who I assume is the real estate agent due to her much more fancy attire says.
"Other buyer?" The boy asked looking between me and the lady.
Before the lady could say anything else, another boy comes in. This one is slightly shorter than the other one, with black hair and looking way too intimidating to my comfort. When he saw the three of us, his eyes widen and looked around with a confused face.
According to the explanation that the real estate agent gave us afterward, due to some crazy mistake, the three of us all had bought the apartment and it was up to us to decide whether we were fine with living together or if we would rather find another place. She then left us to discuss things.
Of course, being left alone with this two strangers wasn't the most enjoyable moment in my life, especially when I started to realize just how attractive they were, making me feel even more awkward.
Little did I know that I would end up befriending them and even dating the one who looked so cold and unapproachable.
"That seems like so long ago." Wonwoo chuckled.
"It was two years ago. I remember how nervous I was when I moved in with you two afterward."
"If it makes you feel better, I wasn't exactly very chilled either. I spent the first month hiding in my room because of you."
"Because of me?"
"Yeah...you were very cute and I was very awkward. That I wasn't completely sure how good your Korean was."
"Well, I was very wary of you too. Mingyu did a pretty good job in forcing us to bond. And when I caught you reading and crying over "The Fault in our Stars", I realized how much of a dork you are. I think that's what made me like you in the first place."
"Good to know all it took for you to start liking me was seeing me crying over a book! You could have said it was my looks or something!" Wonwoo grumbled.
"That helped too!" I joked while looking at my phone. "I have to go to work now but Mingyu should be here soon. Will you be okay for five minutes?"
"I'm sick, not dying! I will be fine."
"You sure?"
"Yes! Now go or Jihoon will have my head for making you late!"

Work wasn't particularly interesting today, just the typical Vernon and Woozi quarrel and Joshua trying to make sure that they both live to see another day.
Later on, when I was getting back to our apartment, Mingyu texted me saying that Wonwoo was feeling a little bit better, but that didn't seem to cease his complaining and that I should hurry up before he decided to borrow Minghao's nunchucks.
Since I was too busy texting Mingyu back, I almost bumped into the person in front of me.
"Well, hello to you too!"
I look up to face the source of the voice, almost not believing my eyes.
No way...
