Leaving my Life Behind
"Percy!! Let me go!" I screamed at him, Percy just laughing and holding my legs tighter. He was trying to get back at me for my last prank- which was legendary. I made all his clothes pink, and then temporarily dyed his hair green. Connor and Travis were proud.
"Nope, you're going in the lake, Sunshine." I groaned, wiggling crazily in an attempt to escape. No way was I getting out of this one.
"Just because you're older than me, and only by four years." I grumbled, crossing my arms from over Percy's shoulder as we kept walking through the lush, green forests of Camp Half-Blood.
"Huh, I always forget your only fifteen. You seem older than all of us." He laughed, as we neared the lake.
I rolled my eyes, even though he couldn't see. "That's because you all act like three year olds. Except Hazel, who is the youngest of us all, so screw you. Oh wait, isn't that Annabeth's job?"
Percy gasped dramatically, and pretended to drop me. "That was unneccesary."
"So is dropping me in the lake, but you're still doing that." I stretched, staring at the lake from upside down.
"Are we nearly there yet? I'm bored."
Just as I finished my sentence, I was plunged into freezing cold water. I shivered, coming back up to the surface to scowl at Percy, who was on the floor laughing.
I got out of the water, still sopping wet, and jumped on Percy, starting to wrestle him. He laughed, pushing me off and running back toward camp, me following quickly.
We ran all the way back to the cabins, where Annabeth and Piper were talking.
"Annabeth! The mean girl is chasing me again!" He screamed, hiding behind his girlfriend as I stopped in front of her.
I glared at Percy, glowing a soft gold for a second, and my clothes were dry again. Percy scowled, crossing his arms.
"I forgot you could do that. Stupid Apollo." He muttered. I laughed.
I had inherited photokinesis from my father, which gave me the ability to manipulate light, and also gave me a small control over heat.
Annabeth raised an eyebrow at me, hiding a smirk from Percy.
"Why are you chasing my boyfriend, Kida?"
I pointed a finger at Percy. "He threw me in the lake!" I shouted, taking a menacing step forward.
Percy's eyes widened. "Because you made all my clothes pink!"
"Because you pushed me off the climbing wall!"
"Because YOU-"
"Shut it!" Annabeth yelled. She turned to me.
"Give Percy a ten second head start."
I smirked evilly. "Done." I was gonna burn his eyebrows off as payback.
Annabeth started counting. "One." Percy's eyes widened.
"Wait, what? Annabeth you're just gonna let her-"
"Two." Percy took off, screaming bloody murder and pushed poor Frank out of the way, who fell over in surprise.
Annabeth stopped counting, and turned back to me. "I love Percy, but he can be stupid at times."
I laughed, nodding in agreement. I grabbed Annabeth and Piper's hands, pulling them along with me.
"Cmon, lets go annoy Leo."

After the campfire, the eight of us decided to back to Percy's cabin. I walked right in, being greeted by Percy and Jason, who were the only two in there, before the rest flooded in.
The atmosphere was quite sad, as it was the last day of summer, and all of us were going our separate ways for the school year.
"So, where did you say you were moving, Kida?" Jason turned to me. I gave a sad smile.
"I'm going to a place in New Jersey, called Gotham. After all the stuff with Gaea, and New Rome last month, my mom thinks it's best that we move somewhere safer, that has superheroes, even though I told her I can protect both of us myself." I rolled my eyes.
Leo sat up from where he was lying on one of the beds in the cabin. "You're going to Gotham? Where Batman is? Oh my gods I'm so gonna visit you, I need to see him."
I giggled at his childishness. "Sure Leo, whatever you say. My mom's picking me up tomorrow morning."
I had already packed all my bags. I was sad to leave here, but I'm gonna be back in the summer, and it would be nice to get away from the constant fighting for a while.
"I'm going back to New Rome with Hazel. They need me over there." Frank said, us nodding. Now that he was Praetor, he was pretty important in Camp Jupiter.
Percy and Annabeth were going back to Sally, and staying there for a while. Jason, Piper and Leo were staying here for the year.
We played games for the rest of the night, joking and laughing like we did on the Argo II. I was so glad that we all got along so well, it would've made our quest awkward if we didn't.
At 11:30, I stood up, dusting off my jeans. "Well, I'm gonna go to bed. I'll see you all tomorrow."
They all gave me some form of goodbye, and I walked back to the Apollo cabin, making sure the Harpies didn't see me.
It was good for me that the Roman equivalent of Apollo was still Apollo, it made everything a lot easier to interact with my siblings, as we all inherited similar traits, didn't matter if you were Greek or Roman.
I lay down in my bed, and drifted into a dreamless sleep quickly.
———————————————————————————
"Kida, wake up. You're gonna miss breakfast." Will Solace, my vice counsellor, shook me awake. I was head counsellor here, as I spent most of my time in the Greek camp.
I shot up from bed at the word 'breakfast', and ran to get a plate, made my offering, and sat down at Percy's table, still in my pajamas. Percy chuckled as I inhaled my food, the rest of the Eight coming to join us.
Once I finished eating and talking to my friends, I went back to my cabin and got changed into the usual Camp t-shirt and blue jeans, my bow necklace hanging from my neck.
If I pulled the charm off, my bow, that was made of Imperial Gold, with sharp tips like a knife and a quiver of arrows appeared on my back. It was called ηλιακή έκλαμψη, in English it meant 'solar flare.' It was gift from my father, before I left on my first quest, and it was the most important item I owned.
I had my charm bracelet too; which, if I tapped it twice, my half celestial bronze, half steel short-sword appeared, which I was pretty good with, too. I named that myself, after Tyson, Percy's brother made it for me. I named it τρυπώντας τρύπα, or 'hole puncher', which I thought was funny for some reason.
I walked out of my cabin, with my suitcase in my hand, and sat down on Half-Blood hill, petting Pelius quietly.
Percy sat down next to me. He and I had always been extremely close. I think of all the Eight like my annoying siblings, but Percy and I had a special bond.
We referred to each other as brother and sister more often than not; even though we looked noting alike.
He had his inky black hair, while mine was naturally stark white. His eyes were sea green, while mine were a golden-orange color, that was very unnatural.
Most people assumed I had colored contacts in.
And he stood at around six feet, while my five-three frame barely put me near his shoulder.
We sat in silence the whole time, not needing to say anything. Eventually, a car horn honked, and my mother stepped out, waving at me happily. I sent a sad smile toward Percy, and he envelopes me in a hug as the rest of the Eight appeared, joining in to make one huge group huddle between all eight of us.
I geared up slightly as we released each other. I wiped the tears away hastily, sniffing quietly.
"I just want you guys to know, that in the short time I've known you all, you've quickly become my family, and I'll love you guys forever. And you better all iris message every week." I wiped more tears away.
"See you next year." And with that, I walked away, waving goodbye to my friends, and getting into my moms car, driving away from Camp Half-Blood.
