Jake had left a little while ago, and after he did, I found myself feeling much better. With the day stretching out ahead of me, I decided to use the time to get ready for our rooftop date. I opened my closet door and scanned its contents, but nothing seemed to jump out at me.

Frustrated, I decided to call for backup. "Nora! I need your help!"

She came rushing in, her eyes wide with excitement. "What's up?"

"I actually have nothing to wear!" I moaned dramatically.

Nora raised an eyebrow, peering into the overflowing closet. "Wren, you have an entire wardrobe that is over flowing. We'll find something. Trust me."

She began rifling through the racks with determination, pulling out various pieces. Then she pulled out something that made both of us stop and stare.

"What is this!?" she exclaimed, holding up a giant carrot suit.

"Ohhh, that's where that went!" I said, laughing as I remembered. "I bought that for my brother for Halloween. I had like seven other costumes that mysteriously disappeared. He never wore any of them."

Nora and I spent the next half hour sifting through the chaos of my closet. To my surprise, we found four more of those missing costumes buried deep among the clutter. We laughed about the absurdity of it all, but finally, we settled on an outfit.

I ended up wearing a pair of black ripped skinny jeans paired with a light yellow cropped long sleeve shirt featuring two white stripes on the arms. I threw my hair into a messy bun atop my head and added a gold necklace with my name on it for a touch of elegance. Black Nike shoes completed the look. I grabbed my phone, ready to confirm the details with Jake.

Me: you ready?
Jake: yeah i'm on my way
Me: good
Jake: stop texting me so i can drive lol
Me: okay okay

I set my phone down and took one last look in the mirror. The dark circles under my eyes were noticeable, but I didn't let it bother me. I heard the sound of the front door opening downstairs.

"Uhhh, is this the right house? This place is way too clean to be mine. And it's not clean enough to be Wren's," Jake's voice floated up the stairs, full of playful confusion.

I chuckled, knowing he must have arrived. I headed downstairs to greet him, my excitement growing, I saw Jake standing in the hallway. I ran down the stairs and I body slammed into his back. I knocked him over and he hit the floor pretty hard. That caused me to laugh.

"No I'm in the right house," he said before letting his head hit the floor

I stuck out a hand and he accepted it. I pulled him to his feet.

"Hey," I said

"Hey," he replied "are you copying my black skinny jean trend?"

"Copying. Pshh," I said flipping my hair over my shoulder "you're just tryna steal my looks,"

"Am not!" He tried to defend himself

"Are too!" I yelled back

He laughed in amusement

"Welcome to my humble abode," I said with a grin, extending my arms in a welcoming gesture, stepping closer. "Ready for our rooftop adventure?"

"Absolutely," Jake said, his eyes twinkling with anticipation. "Lead the way."
