Chapter I

We were in love. Or that's just what it seemed. There wasn't a day when we wouldn't think about each other at least once.

We met when we were nine.

I used to live in Chicago.

Me and my family were happy there. But of course my brilliant parents thought that it would be great to start all over. To get a new beginning. Honestly I wasn't too sad about the moving. I never had that much friends, and hey, I was just a little kid. Opposite to other kids I wanted to read books, I enjoyed the adventure, the travelling to new places by just laying on my sofa. I always got in trouble, by getting lost somewhere or just sneaking out of the house with my dog to go for a walk. I still do it but Zoe passed away so now I do it with Oliver.

I was always, and am now, full of energy. Only reading a book could calm me down.

I remember that day as it were yesterday.

We just moved to a small house in the suburb of Boston. I always wanted to go to Boston, something just attracted me there.

I look around the street as we unload moving boxes from the truck. The street is nice with a row of maple trees on either side if the road, with old lamps and wooden benches. The houses are a bit squished, but that doesn't matter.

''So this is our new home?'' I murmur to myself.

The house isn't too big nor too small, just about the right size for our three member family. It's a nice shade of mild yellow with dark roof. In the backyard there's a dog house for Oliver, even though he'll probably sleep in my room. We finish and get inside. We enter a small hallway with four doors. One leads to living room, through which you can get to the kitchen; another is a stairway to second floor; the third door are a closet and the fourth lead to a bathroom. I pull my mom's hand and quickly climb up the stairs to see my room.

On the second floor there are my room, mom's and dad's, a guest room and a bathroom. Mom shows up on the top oh the stairs and just points to white doors. Immediately I know it's my room and enter it. It has purple walls and isn't too big, just enough to be comfy and warm. I immediately feel drawn towards the far off wall and go over there. I see a big window and underneath it is one of those small roofs that are great for sneaking out. It's almost conjoined with another little roof of the other house that's next to ours. Inside the other window I see a boy, about my age reading a book. I smile and want to talk to him but am interrupted when mom calls me
"Cam! Cam! Camilla you come down here this second and help us with the boxes!"
I run down the stairs and grab a box, itching to go back and talk to that boy. Sadly as I get back up the boy isn't there anymore. I just sigh and start unpacking the boxes.

By the time we were done I was ready to curl up on the floor and fall asleep. But it was only 5 and somebody knocked on the door. My mom put on a smile and opened the door. There stood a woman with ginger hair and blue eyes.
"Hi, I'm Lucy Satras, your new neighboor. My son and I came to welcome you to the neighboorhood."
My mom and Mrs Satras continued talking but I wasn't listening anymore. What ocuppied my attention was that boy I saw in the window, apperantly Mrs Satras' son and my new neighboor. He had dark red hair, darker than his mothers and beautiful eyes, the colour of grass. I waved to him and he shyly waved back. Mom told me to take him to my room and play. We climb up the stairs and I say:
"Sorry it'a mess I didn't have time to tidy it up.''
''It's okay. My room isn't exactly paradise either.'' he responded smiling slithly.
We walk to the bed and sit on opposite ends. He notices the window and smiles.
" So you got the room wirh the window?''
"Yeah, and luckily I have someone to share it with." I say.
We talked and laughed like we knew each other since forever. Unfortunatley he soon had to go but we made a deal to get to know each other and meet on the roofs at about nine o' clock. We parted.

Later that night at quarter to nine I snuck out the window and looked through his. He wasn't in the room so I waited a little bit. Fortunately, he soon came and climbed out the window.
"Hey, sorry I'm late, my mom distracted me."
"It's good, I came early anyway."

Again we talked for about two hours. We talked about favorite stuff, our lives, friends, fammilies, well... Just about everything.

We became best friends over the years.
We always had each other's backs, in good or evil, far away or right next to each other. And everything was fine. Until he disappeared.
I can still remember every detail about him.
His eyes, the eyes you could easily get lost in.
His hair, the hair that would never listen to him.
His smile.
Oh, his smile! I know it's cliche but he had the most gorgues smile on the earth.
I remember every talk we had on our rooftops, every time we snuck away together and every time we kissed.
And the best of all, his lips. Those soft, kissable rosy lips. The lips that fit so good against mine.

But I know I'll kiss them again. I know I'll feel them again on me. I know it. I'll see him sooner or later.
