Skipping

Well, ages ago I was ill and asked you guys which Hetalia character you'd like to look after you, and the first answer I received was Romano! So I'm very sorry about the very long delay for posting this! Finally I managed to write this. I haven't been writing as recently as before but I think now I have the inspiration to do it again, so enjoy this Oneshot while I write the next part of one of the books I have out now!
Also autocorrect may have 'corrected' some things in this!
Thank you for being patient!

Thank you to alderheart  who made the amazing cover! :D

(F/N) groaned, rolling over and away from the bright light that was peering it's way through the curtains of her room. Her bedcovers were a mess and were half on, half off of her bed. Her pillows had fallen onto the floor and there was a cold sweat covering her body. Her head wouldn't stop aching with pain and her throat felt like a desert.

To put it simply she felt awful.

She moved her aching body and tried to find a comfortable positing she could back asleep again in so then at least she wouldn't have to be awake. Screw school, that could wait for when she was feeling better.

Her phone buzzed, letting off a loud text notification but from (F/N)'s point of view, it felt like a NASA rocket had just blasted off from just right next to her. She let out another loud groan and patted her desk to try find her phone. Eventually she found it and turned it on, sighing at the many text notifications she'd gotten. It was only 9 o'clock so school shouldn't have started that long ago, so why had she gotten so many texts. She looked at the name and saw they were all from Lovino, one of her longtime friends from school.

Message received: 13
Sender: Lovino (The Tomato Guy)

8:31: Oi, you're late
8:34: Are you being lazy and staying off school today?
8:35: Fuck
8:37: The stupid teacher tried to take my phone off me
8:40: It's your fault if I get my phone suspended
8:42: Why do you never answer your fucking phone
8:44: This tomato bastard keeps annoying me
8:45: Come fucking help me already
8:47: < 3
8:49: FUCK
8:49: Stupid ducking tomato bastard did that!
8:50: FUCKING NOT DUCKING FUCK YOU AUTOCORRECT
8:51: I guess you've abandoned me today to deal with this hell hole by myself, and I thought we were friends (F/N)

As much as it hurt her throat, (F/N) couldn't help but stifle a laugh at her friends silly texts. She hastily typed her reply. If she had to stay in bed all day then she might as well have someone to talk to. Lovino was always quick to reply as well, unless of course he was blatantly ignoring someone of course.

(F/N): I'm sick, you better prepare a funeral, I'm pretty sure I've got Ebola this time. Remember the diamond laced coffin!
Lovino: I'm not paying for all of that shit.
(F/N): It's so nice to see that you care about me~
(F/N): Is Antonio still annoying you?
Lovino: No
(F/N): ?? Why not?
Lovino: Because I left
(F/N): Left the classroom?
Lovino: Left the school
(F/N): What?! How did you do that!? Where are you now?!
Lovino: That's none of your business idiot!
(F/N): Excuse me for caring about the safety of my friend. If you get kidnapped, then i would be the last person to have contact with you! And then I could say where you were!
Lovino: I'm not going to get kidnapped! I just left the fucking shop!
(F/N): Why are you at the shop?!?
(F/N): Go get an education!
Lovino: Fuck no, I'm not going back there.
(F/N): You just do what you want don't you?
(F/N): Well I'm going to see if I can get more sleep, so goodnight!
Lovino: It's morning.
(F/N): Shuddup

(F/N) tossed her phone back onto her desk and willed herself to settle down enough to close her eyes. It was hard to sleep when she was feeling to dreadfully awful. Her covers were still in disarray but she eventually fell back asleep.

She woke up about an hour later, feeling slightly less dreadful and also slightly warmer. Thought her mind was still groggy and slow, she realised her bed covers were placed on top of her and her pillow had been placed underneath her head. There was a nice smell coming from her kitchen, and it was familiar too. She first thought maybe a burglar had entered her small apartment, but if so why would they tuck her into bed?

She opened her eyes properly and sat up, rubbing her eyes and ignoring the pounding headache she still had. Looking to her left she saw that the curtains had been opened and light was flooding into the room. Looking over to her left she saw-

"Aghhhhhhh!"

"Good morning to you to (F/N)." The sarcastic and grouchy voice stopped (F/N) from screaming (and also stopped her from almost grabbing the bat she had hidden done the side of her bed) and she opened her eyes to see her friend from school, Lovino. He was sat on a chair next to her bed, with his arms crossed in a blasé kind of manner.

"Why are you in my house you idiot!?" (F/N) shouted, pulling her bed covers closer to her to cover up her body dressed in simple, and slightly loosely fitted pyjamas.

"I'm the idiot?! You're the one who's the idiot!" He exclaimed. "When I got here your bed covers were everywhere and you barely have any food in your fridge you know, it was lucky that I went to the shop!"

"That's why you went to the shop..?" (F/N) asked, then she realised something. "Wait why are you here and not at school!" She shouted loudly. To that she saw her friends cheeks go slightly red and he averted his gaze to instead look at the floor.

"Y-You said you were sick! So I came over to check it you!" (F/N) almost choked on her own oxygen and when Lovino saw her shocked expression, his cheeks went even more red. "It was the tomato bastard's idea, it's not like I did it because I was worried!" He shouted. (F/N) was already used to that line. Of course he was going to pretend like he didn't care.. She grinned.

"Thank you, Lovino." She smiled and her smile only grew as Lovino muttered a small response of 'you're welcome,' his cheek ever so slowly tinting to a deep red colour.

A beeping sound suddenly sounded from the kitchen and Lovino swore under his breath before roughly standing up from his chair and making his way to the kitchen. The sound of the fire alarm was awful, (F/N) was pretty sure she was ready to rip her ears off just to make it stop, yet thankfully it stopped after a few seconds. She lay back against her pillow, using it a way to prop her up so she could still sit up. Her nose still felt runny, her headaches even more now and her throat was still as dry as ever.

After a couple of seconds, Lovino came back with a tray with a bowl on it, and an agitated expression on his face.

"That fucking alarm wouldn't shut up.." He grumbled, making his way back to the chair he was sat on. (F/N) was more curious as the what was in the bowl though.

"What's in the bowl, poison?" She jokingly asked, and Lovino sent her a glare.

"No! I told you I went the shops didn't I? I bought ingredients for soup!" He yelled.

"Y-You made me homemade soup..?" (F/N)'s face went as red as the soup she'd been handed.

"Yes you idi-" He paused as he realised he basically spelt it out that he'd gone to a lot of trouble just for (F/N). He went red too. "It's nothing! It's was Antonio's idea again." He quickly refused any responsibility and sat back down next to (F/N) with a pout on his face.

"T-Thank you, Lovino!" (F/N) smiled gratefully. He'd made the soup just for her and he was looking after her. His eyes widened before he looked away again, eyes glued back down to the ever-so-interesting floor. (F/N) swallowed a spoonful of the soup, careful not to burn her tongue or not to eat to much in one gulp.

"Wow, as good as ever Lovino!" She scooped up another spoonful and blew on it to make it cooler, then swallowed it down. Lovino was always a good cook, even though he insisted his brother was better at most things than him, (F/N) thought Lovino was better at cooking.

The two talked on for a while, and while most would be surprised at the amount of insults thrown between the two, to them it was mostly seen as playfulness. Soon (F/N) felt the drowsiness from being in a warm room after eating some warm soup set in. While Lovino was away washing the bowl (F/N) had been using, (F/N) felt her consciousness slowly slip away until she was back in dreamland again.

When Lovino came back and saw (F/N) asleep, he sighed quietly. Whatever she'd done to get herself sick in the first place was beyond him and it was probably irresponsible anyway. (F/N) was a enthusiastic girl, she was always loud so for once it was nice to see her peacefully sleeping. He stroked some hair out of the way of her face and found himself smiling. He lightly kissed her head and sat back down in his chair until she would wake again.

He was glad he skipped school that day.

He was also glad (F/N) never found out that Antonio never mentioned anything to Lovino at all, and that in fact it was all Lovino's own idea to come see her in the first place.
