5. Green with Envy, Red with Blood
This is, indeed, a book I am writing. However, these parts are the origin of that book and considered the root timeline of most of the other drabbles.

TW: suicide, a broken Virgil, arguing
******
"Hey Virgil?"
"Yeah Ro?"
"You know I love you, right?"
"Of course!"
"There's a surprise for you on your bed. Don't thank me until after you read the whole letter."
"Ok?"
Roman watched Virgil until he was out of sight. Then he got the rope out and made a noose, typing it to the ceiling fan.
Now or never.
He put his head through the loop and kicked the chair from under him. He took his last breath...
"I'm sorry Virge.."
——
Virgil spotted a box on his bed wrapped in gold with a purple bow. On the box was a note, just as Roman said there would be. Virgil picked it up and began to read it,
"Dearest Virgil,
If you are reading this, then I probably gained the courage to finally do it. Inside the box is a bunch of stuff I have gathered to remind you of how much I love you. Look through it all and you might find things you recognize.
I am truly sorry for the pain I have caused you in the past and possibly in the future if I am successful. Please do not miss me Virgil, for there will be another prince of Creativity to take my place.
See you in your dreams Storm Cloud ❤️
yours truly, Creativity"
Virgil gasped, rereading the note twice. Roman had told him not to thank him until after reading it all...was it to distract him long enough for Roman to off himself Virgil tool off running towards Roman's room, slamming the door open. His eyes filled with tears as he saw his fiancé hanging from the ceiling.
"No! Nononono!" He yelled as he climbed into the chair and cut the noose down. He checked Roman's pulse and and started sobbing upon finding none. He desperately tried to wake Roman up but he knew he was too late... His prince was already gone.
"I'm sorry I was too late.." Virgil whispered to the lifeless body. He gave Roman one last kiss before the prince's body crumbled to dust and disappeared along with the room, leaving Virgil in an empty space where the new Creativity will claim.
"I love you Ro.."
——
It's been four months since Roman died. Four months since the new creativity, Romeo, took Roman's place.
Virgil had distanced himself from the others. Especially Romeo. Instead of calling the prince playful names life he did with Roman, Virgil would refer to the prince as "Creativity". The poor emo nightmare had locked himself himself in his room, surrounded by the things Roman had given him.
"Virgil? It's Romeo," Virgil heard from the other side of his door.
"leave me alone Creativity!" Venom dropped from his words. He glared at he door. "The only person worthy of that title is Roman!"
"Virge..may we talk?" Romeo pleaded. Virgil growled at he nickname; Roman had used it.
"Don't call me Virge. Refer to me as Anxiety." Virgil huffed. He opened his door and glared at the prince.
"Why do you hate me? I haven't doe anything to you..." Romeo asked in a sad tone. Virgil rolled his eyes, not wanting to admit the prince was right.
"There's only one person who deserves to be Creativity and that's my fiancé." Virgil's eyes began to water. "J-just because he's non longer here doesn't mean you can take his place!"
Romeo hesitate before pulling Virgil into a hug. "I'm sorry he left you.. I'm willing to be the shoulder to lean on while you heal.."
"I'll never love you like I love him.."
——
No matter how much Romeo tried become friends with the anxious Side, Virgil always slammed the door in his face. He didn't mean to come off as a bitch but he really didn't want anything to do with Roman's replacement.
The emo sighed and curled up in his bed, snuggling the black kitty Roman had handmade for him. The box of memories stayed on his nightstand but was never opened. Deciding that he wanted to be reminded about his dramatic fiancé, Virgil grabbed the box and opened it., There were dozens of things despite the box not being that big.
He pulled the first item out; Roman's sash. The red shade was much different that Romeo's. It was vibrant and cheerful. Virgil smiled at it and gently set it next to him. He pulled out a handful of photos, smiling more at each image. Some of them were from dates, others were pictures Patton had taken of them at random moments.
Looking through the box more, Virgil found various love notes, roses, flower crowns, and other romantic gestures.
"You're such a sap Ro..." Virgil whispered after seeing a third 'I love you' note. The last item in the box was a jacket Roma had made him. It had a mix of red and purple with hints of gold and black. A note was attached to it;
"Red is love, purple is royalty, gold is trust, black is nightly. I love you, my stormy night —Roman <3"
Virgil's eyes filled with tears after reading the note. He removed his jacket and replaced it with the one Roman had made for him. He placed the teams back into the box with great gentleness, then curled up with the kitty plush.
"I miss you Roman..."
——
"Hey Virge, nice jacket!" Patton complimented. Virgil smiled slightly and thanked him. "Is it the one that Roman made for you?"
"The one and only," Virgil sighed quietly and played with the sleeves of the jacket. This was the first time he came out of his room since the incident and Patton was the first to greet him.
Logan came out of the kitchen with a jar of Crofters a few minutes later. "Ah, Virgil, nice seeing you again!" He pulled the emo into a slightly awkward hug. Virgil chuckled and retuned the hug.
"Same to you Lo. I just needed time to accept that he's gone..." Virgil trailed off, not wanting to continue. Logan and Patton put on a Disney movie and wrapped Virgil up in blankets just how Roman would.
"Remember how Roman embraced the eyeshadow your room gave him?" Patton asked with a giggle. "He was right, a prince has got to slay." The three smiled at the memory.
"Did someone say prince?" Romeo asked as he came into the living room. Virgil glared at him.
"Get out of ere Creativity!" Virgil hissed. He wasn't in the mood for Romeo 'trying to be friends' with him.
Romeo huffed and walked over to him. "Why can't you just accept the face that he left you? I'm twice the prince he was!"
"He was more of a prince than you'll ver be!" Virgil's voice was starting to sound glitchy as his anxiety started to sky rocket.
"If he was even half the prince I am, then explain to me why he would leave! if you would just talk to me, I can help!" Rome argued. Patton and Logan decided to step in and stop the argument from escalating.
"Stay away from me Creativity. Roman is the only one I'll ever love romantically." And with that, Virgil was back in his room.
