Sonic stepped out of the small airport into the blazing summer sun. "Man." He mumbled as he sat his backpack on the ground next to him "Sure is hot." He looked around, it was a quiet day, "Well, better go see if those rumors I read about were true." He  grabbed his bag and walked up to one of the nearby citizens, an elderly monkey. "Excuse me I was wondering-"

"You're not from here are you?" The citizen asked with annoyance in his voice

"Um, no, but I read an article about some scientist that attacks thi-"

"Take my advice, stay away from that man, if you're here to try to help you'll end up just like the last self proclaimed hero, splattered across the town square."

"Well I can't just not tryyy, wait did you say splat-"

"Don't." The monkey hobbled away "You've been warned boy."

Sonic blinked a few times and muttered to himself "Okay then, note to self, people here aren't the nicest." He looked around again "No sign of that bad guy I read about, but he clearly exists." Sonic pulled a notebook and a small pen out of his bag and wrote down a quick note. "Now," he began again "to figure out where I'm gonna stay while I'm here."

Tails walked out of his workshop and grumbled as he locked it up "Third time this week." He sighed "Can't Eggman just get his own tools instead of sending his bots to steal mine?" The small fox quietly walked towards town

"You've been warned boy." Tails looked over to see who was warning who, Old Crazy Monkey was warning some new guy, no doubt about Eggman.

The hedgehog mumbled something before pulling out a notebook and jotting something down. "Now to figure out where I'm gonna stay while I'm here."

I should help. Tails thought He probably has no clue where he's going. "Hey!" Tails called over to the hedgehog. The blue hedgehog looked around then pointed at himself "Yes I mean you." Tails laughed as the hedgehog walked over

"Hey, I don't know you." The hedgehog pointed out as he walked over to Tails

"I'm aware, you looked lost."

"Yeah, do you know where I can find an Inn or something?"

"There's no inns in this town, sorry."

"It's fine, I'll just sleep on a bench or something." He replied

"No, I'm sure there's somewhere you can stay." Tails thought "I would offer to let you stay at my house but I don't know you at all and you could be dangerous."

"I could be," the hedgehog shrugged "but I'm not."

"I don't know that though."

"Fair." The hedgehog shrugged again "Anyway, I'm Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog."

"I'm Tails, I-"

There was an explosion. "EGGMAN'S BAAAACk!!!" Someone yelled as they ran by

"I'm assuming he's a bad guy." Sonic asked Tails

"Yeah, he attacks the village constantly."

"So he's who I'm here to stop."

"What?"

"Stand back." Sonic mumbled as he stepped forward "Evil scientist, right?"

"Yeah?"

"Builds robots?"

"Yeah?"

"He's just like Robotnik." Sonic ran towards the chaos

"Hey! Wait! You'll get hurt!"

Eggman laughed evilly as his robots caused destruction in the town square. "Hey! Mustache-head!" A voice yelled as six robots exploded

"Who dares?!" Eggman shouted angrily as he spotted a blue hedgehog, Sonic

"I dare!" Sonic shouted "Who do you think you are, attacking people?"

"I am Doctor Eggman and I do whatever the fuck I want."

"Not for long you don't." Sonic replied as he ran and kicked down three more robots.

"How in hell?" Eggman angrily spat

"It's called super speed Eggs-For-Brains!" Sonic shouted as he destroyed robots left and right

"Robots! Stop him!" Robots swarmed towards Sonic "He must've been part of the Resistance from the war on the mainland.

"What's that kid doing?" One of the citizens asked as Sonic fought "He's gonna get himself killed."

"Sonic! What're you doing?!" Tails yelled as he finally caught up with Sonic "You're going to get yourself killed!!!"

"No I'm not! It's all gonna be fine!" Sonic called back "I've fought these sorts of things before."

"When?!"

"My whole childhood."

Tails thought for a moment That's right, he thought, The war against Robotnik on the mainland, it never got here seeing as we weren't on any maps until two years ago. Tails looked over at Sonic He must've been a Freedom Fighter.

Sonic dropkicked a robot's head at Eggman "That all you got?"

"Blue brat." Eggman grumbled as he retreated

"He made Eggman run away!" A villager shouted

"Incredible!" Another called out

"Amazing!" Yet another yelled

"He's a Hero!" A group shouted at the same time

"It's fine, I do this all the time." Sonic shrugged. "No big deal."

"You do this all the time? You fight evil scientists?" Tails asked

"Nah, it's mostly petty crimes like shoplifters and a couple of car thieves nowadays..."

"Really?"

"Though there was the war two years ago that," Sonic laughed for a second "That was a terrifying fourteen years."

"What did you-"

"I was one of the leaders of the Freedom Fighters." Sonic explained "I spent the first fourteen years of my life fighting Robotnik, and didn't meet my real family until I was eleven." He shrugged "Y'know, the usual 'my family go separated because of a war', story."

"That's not a usual thing!" Tails exclaimed, "Are you alright!?"

"Nah, I am deeply scarred, at this point I don't care though so." Sonic shrugged "I ignore it."

"That's not healthy."

"Eh, I'm fine." Sonic smiled calmly "Anyway, I need to figure out where I'm gonna stay while I'm here, c'ya."

"Hold on!"

"What?"

"Obviously you're not gonna murder me if I let you stay in my house, so if you need somewhere to stay for a while, I have a sofa you can sleep on."

"Cool, I try not to be a bother."

"I spend most of my time in my workshop anyways..." Tails sighed "That reminds me, I've gotta go get a few tools, Eggman sent his robots to steal mine last night apparently, half of them are missing."

Sonic laughed "I'll go with you. Seeing as I have no idea where anything is here, and if I don't I won't be able to figure out where your house is."

"Yeah good point."
