1. Martial Mastery: 

Ren has been trained as a fighter and swordmaster, allowing him to expertly use a sword of any kind. He prefers to use an arming sword

As the Divine Crusader, Ren has been able to inherit the skills of the Divine Crusader Pelinal Whitestrake and his martial mastery. Ren is even more dangerous with a sword and even a mace, often dual-wielding them or with a shield. 

2. Magickal ability: Ren is a highly efficient spellcaster, using weaker yet highly useful spells to disorient or win against foes. Preferring to cast them with one hand, he weaves both spell and sword with frightening mastery

Background:

Originally an ordinary man he somehow got involved in the events that would lead him to being taken in by a former soldier and being enrolled in the Officer's academy. He was the son of a Merchant's trusted employee and a knight. While he was the oldest, he joined the officer's academy to give his younger and more able brother to lead the house.
