Backstory : Zion was born in an effort of his parents attempting to save thier marriage due to his father's affair . So In 1978 , Zion was born when Katherine was 48 and Joseph was 50 . But due to his parents ages , Zion was born 13 weeks early and stayed in the hospital until he was at least 4 months old . By then , all of his siblings were teenagers or in thier 20s . Growing up , Zion watched his parents argue and fight with not only each other but his brother Michael . In 1986 At 8 years old , Zion had surgery to repair a torn heart muscle which left him bed bound and in the care of his father and half sister . Having enough of the way his baby brother was being treated Michael who was 28 years old , sued his parents for custody of Zion and won . He made sure Zion had the medical attention he needed and went to a good school . At 15 years old , Zion testified at his brother's trial and even got tested for any sexual diseases. He even chased the press away on a few occasions when they wouldn't leave the brothers alone . In 1994 , he began his music career and released his first song and started in a few tv shows . For about 13 years, Zion and Michael toured together . On June 25th , 2009 , Zion discovered Michael dead and was broken . He canceled his tour for the 2010 tour season . At 32 years old , Zion began to steal from his family and became addicted to oxcy and Xanax along with developing a drinking problem. He was arrested 4 times between 2012 and 2015 . At 37 , he overdosed on oxcy and was found by his mother a few hours later .
