Thoughts:
Roland: Wow! That prologue ended with a nice bag.
Lear: I'm curious now. The prologue did peak my interest. Hmmm.
Roland: Already on chapter nine and I'm loving the story so far. The story is progressing slowly, but I'm almost certain it would pick up.
Lear:
It was an ok chapter, but I felt it felt a little tell-y toward the end there. My suggestion is to leave it out. Let the mystery unravels later.
Roland: Wo-ho! The secret is out. I loved how it was revealed too. It was natural yet unexpected.
Lear:
Spoken like a mother and queen. This one moment reveals so much about Eve, I feel.
Roland: Wow that chapter 28 threw me for a loop. Not I'm utterly confused.
Lear: It appears a shift had happened while I was reading, but I don't know where. I wonder how much is fantasy verse reality. However I think I figured out where the changed happened.
Roland: You should tell me.
Lear: Huh? No way. Go back and reread.
Roland: Come on be a pal and help me out.
Lear: Giving you the answer isn't helping you now moving on.
Roland: Aww
I must comment on this:
We live in a world where race seem to matter. Well I disagree with that! How can one say they are better than the other when both have committed the same mistakes. How can one be inferior to another when we are the same individuals-- we are one race? How can color even be a factor when that's all it is -- a color? My point is everyone was born to interact with one another. No one is inferior or superior to another. We are life just as life is us.
Lear: Ok ok. I believe they understand. Those prejudicial thoughts and comments really set you off.
Roland: It does because they don't make sense!
Lear: Yes, yes I know.
Roland: You can't tell me they do.
Lear: And I'm not going to, but you must remember that everyone is entitled to their opinions.
Roland: Ugh! Let's move on. Characters. I though Eve was a well round character. Adlaric was a rather interesting character himself.
Lear: Really because I thought he was an uncontainable animal. I mean he lost control there several times.
Roland: Oh but love prevails. His love for Eve outweighs his beast side. I'll say it was a balance type of thing going.
Lear: I gotta admit: I wanted to see more interaction from the side characters like her parents. Where were they in all of this?
Roland: Hmm. I would have liked to seen glimpse into Eve being kidnapped. Like: a scene of her being taken while Adlaric was off fighting.
Lear: There is a huge gap in chapter 28. I believe it could be filled with a transition scene too. I like the mystery around that scene though. Initially, I thought Eve was kidnapped back at her home when those people came for Eros, and she dreamed up everything that happened after that point, but that wasn't the case. It would have been a nice plot twist and allowed Adlaric and Eve to start at the very beginning again getting to know one another, but that wasn't the case.
Roland: And I'm saying to keep that but just add in some glimpse to her being taken. Right now it jumps from the two being in his office to her dreaming. And you sound a little disappointed.
Lear: I am. Which brings me to those flashbacks. I liked the flashbacks, but what I didn't like was a whole scene copied and pasted into the chapter. Reword those flashbacks to give your readers something fresh to read while keeping the same information. Like describing in the flashback, where Adlaric first meet Eve, her face and the way her lips moved as he catches her when she tripped. I hope you get my point here.
Roland: My favorite part were the children interaction.
Lear: I prefer the scene where Adlaric ripped out that guy's heart. It showed a good insight into the negative parts of his personality and it made everyone see that he isn't the god he is viewed to be. He makes errors just like everyone else. However this isn't emphasis enough.
Roland: I enjoyed this story overall. It had a little of everything!
Lear: I thought it was a little cliche. Everyone got a happy ending
Roland: Are you saying you didn't want a happy ending?
Lear: I'm just saying it would have opened doors for an interesting out of controlled king to become the bad guy.
Roland: Oh you and your sad-horror stories.
Lear: It's better than the lovey-dovey stuff.
Roland: Anyway, there was that one plot hole, but the story itself was a good read. It needs a editor to perfected it, but I'm looking forward to reading about Elizabeth and Darius(I thought he was a traitor at first bit he's not so that's good. Would have liked to see him around more during Eve torment to give the illusion that he was a traitor) story.
Lear: It was an ok story. It could have been better in my opinion and no offend.
