Thoughts:
Lear: I don't like the cover at all.
Roland: Oh well I'm not a fan of the cover myself, but I do adore the title letters. 0_0
Roland: The start is lovely. It took a minute to put me in, but it's very interesting. I sense something bad is going to happen though. (I'm on chapter 3)
Lear: So far, I'm not as intrigued by this story as Mr. Roland is. I'll have to say I still need more to go off of before making a choice.
Roland:
*shivers* Creepy with a capital T.
Lear: Just because it looks like a vampire is stalking Elijah doesn't make it creepy. I've read books scarier than this.
Roland: But-but tell me someone standing at the end of your bed while you're sleep wouldn't scare the living daylights out of you.
Lear: *narrows eyes* Someone standing at the end of my bed wouldn't scare-
Roland: Nonsense! You gotta be scare of something Mr. Lear.
Lear: If he was smart, he would have checked the shadows instead of simply seeing only where he's eyes took him. I know he saw those shadows.
Roland: Yea, but not everyone is aware of the supernatural.
Lear: He's about to learn now is he.
Roland: *pouts and picks up a cookie* You're hopeless.
Lear: The writing style is oldish in nature. I'm not sure if I fancy it or not.
Roland: I think the author's writing style is unique and fits the historicness of this tale. It's light, yet understandable.
Lear: What do you think of catching a vampire?
Roland: I think that it depends on one's skills when dealing with a vampire. It's a shame Abraham doesn't quite believe his son to be.
Lear: All the sighs are there: nightly visits, bite mark that isn't canine nor human, and how would one expect himself to get back into his room after being attack. Come on people!
Roland: Mr. Lear, you have to consider the time frame this story takes place in.
Lear: Still...humans can be so ignorant sometimes.
Roland:
Words to live by.
Lear: Love is overrated these days.
Roland: Ah come on. Don't be that way. Love is wonderful.
Lear: Most vampires have nothing to do with themselves nowadays. Watching a couple in their most private moments-yep something a vampire would do.
Roland: I liked that this nameless vampire has feelings or memories of what's it like to lose something.
Lear: A deal with a vampire, a gentle soul vampire, and a willing man. That only spells RFT orin other words: room for trouble.
Roland: I do wonder how Elijah would handle this new development. I only hope things turn out in the right direction.
Lear: I wonder how much blood a vampire needs to survive. I should ask one.
Roland: *eats cookie* I wonder if Elijah and his lover would truly have a normal life. Will Elijah tell her about the vampire or rather more about their agreement? Hmm so much to think about.
Lear:
What a true statement.
Roland: Yes, we are all flawed in one way or another however, this vampire and human interaction is very intriguing. It's like they are fighting an invisible war with neither side winning.
Lear: The vampire's relationship toward Elijah is a bit confusing to me. Does he love Elijah romantically or is it just a blood lust craving?
Roland: I believe the author is trying to show that the handsome vampire is in love with Elijah, but in a sort of companionship way mote so than romantically. The fine line there is truly thin.
Roland: I like how the author added religious into this story.
Lear: Christian I believe.
Roland: Yep. The struggle against one's love for another and love for a higher power, God in this case, is a great faction to explore when dealing with the innocent Irena. She's been nothing, but good during the story. Maybe she should have listened to her dreams maybe not. I know that she is a very loyal person.
Lear: A quality I value.
Roland: Throughout this book, I can't help but wonder if Elijah would became a vampire or not...at least after he met the vampire.
Lear: It is a thrilling thought.
Roland:
Indeed this is a true statement. What Elijah committed during those long forgotten times were taboo, but in modern times all forms of love is accepted.
Lear: *mutters* Including men loving a pillow.
Roland: What was that? *looks at Lear*
Lear: Nevermind. This story was well written and captured the 'feel' of the past in a nicely wrapped bundle. While the story is still ongoing, i can't help but wonder if Elijah would be able to get rid of his vampire friend/lover.
Roland: I bet there's a blade in that bag. What are vampires weak against again?
Lear: Whatever in the bag is something that will surely led to some inner struggle between Elijah and the vampire.
Roland: Pss you'll find out the vampire's name if you read the story.
Anywho, I thought this story was heavily intended for an adult audience. It covers themes like sexual freedom to sinning against God (Catholic religion). To strong hate to love. To adultery and premarital sex.
Lear: This story is something I enjoyed. The struggle between human and vampire is always a topic to enjoy. It reminds me of the traditional ways vampires were often seen as demons instead of good individuals. I'm not saying that the vampire doesn't have feelings, but I'm saying that his feelings aren't as real as Elijah despite his display of vulunbility in front of Elijah. I believe it's all part of the hunting games vampires play.
Roland: That might very well be, but it's hard to believe that the vampire isn't in fact lonely. I mean are there more of his kind. It's been hinted at, but never mentioned as someone had to turn poor H-vampire man.
Lear: Overall I liked the story. I believe a fight is coming, and one that isn't going to be resolved easily.
Roland: I gotta admit. I am curious about this story. It's been so long since I've read one like this. It strongly reminds me of the movie, Interview with a Vampire. I wonder if the author was influenced by such a movie.
Have any questions? Ask away and the Deans shall get back to you. In the meanwhile, feel free to check out this unique story if it pipes your curiosity.
