We got home from vegas late last night. Peter was pretty tired and fell asleep in my bed. I was in the labs early the next morning with protective goggles over my face welding metals together as sparks flew from the blow torch. I hummed to myself softly as I ceased the torch from its actions setting it down on the bench beside me. I quickly threw aside my protective goggles and pushed myself backward in my backless wheelie chair.
I stood up and walked toward another table with transparent monitors as I lowered the loud rock music in the room and continued to program sequences for the motion detection doors in the lobby. I heard someone approaching but my relaxed body felt no need to be alarmed as I continued to set equations into the computer.
I felt arms snake around my waist and a head rested on my shoulder blade. A small smile spread at my lips. "I was a little sad when I woke up and you weren't there." Peter mumbles as if he was still half asleep. He soon stood up straight and moved his head to rest on my shoulder watching what I was doing.
"What are you programing doors for?" He questioned sweetly. "I was meant to do it yesterday but I forgot. If they don't get done every few months the doors in the lobby go into overdrive because stupid Tony Stark insisted on using his own prototype tech instead of just getting some guy to just come install it. Please tell me how the famous multimillionaire Tony Stark can mess up on making motion detection doors?" I replied a little flustered.
"Hey relax, okay? Today is going to be a good day." Peter cooed softly as his warm body removed itself from mine. I immediately missed the feeling of his body against my own. My fingers moved quickly over the holographic keyboard until I was done and entered the codes into the computer. I turned around to see Peter sitting on my backless chair already staring at me.
"What makes you say that today is going to be a good day?" I scoffed leaning against the table behind me. "Because yesterday wasn't a good day, you gotta have a balance you know?" He answered. I nodded pulling my jacket over my bare arms and turning my head to stare out the large glass windows.
"Do you want me to take you to school?" I questioned turning my head back to Peter. His face dropped to a frown. "Peter you can't miss anymore days off school," I tell him. I looked at the digital clock on the transparent monitor behind me, the time was 6:12 a.m. If we left at 6:30 we would get to school on time.
Tony suddenly burst into the labs, his face was panicked as he ran to his desk and threw stuff from the table in a fit of frustration. Peter and I stared at Tony as he fished through draws grunting in annoyance every so often.
"Tony," I say stepping towards him and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. He pulled away from me quickly and stared into my eyes, a tear slid down his face. He was afraid.
"What's happened?" I frowned almost afraid to hear the answer. Tony grabbed his spare keys in the top draw and rushed towards the door.
"He has the stones," Tony said in a rush. I chased after him and stood in the door frame with Peter beside me.
"Tony! Who? Who has the stones!" I called after him as he jogged down the wide hallways. He stopped, turned his head around and looked at me.
"Thanos has the stones."
