"So leave me to do that talking, you just stand there and try not to look like a marshmallow and what do you call me?" I quizzed Peter as we where nearing closer to the alley where Monty and his gang would hang and live around.
"Rogue? I still don't understand why I have to call you that. What is wrong with Bonnie?" He asked with a small frown.
"They can't know my first or last name Peter. If they find out my father is Tony Stark I am done for. These guys they are my friends, they don't have much of a liking towards Tony either." I say. Peter nodded, registering all the information he has been told and nodded slowly.
I saw the alley and the light admitted from it. I heard voices yelling and screaming over each other, I quickly turned around to look at Peter who suddenly stopped walking when he had noticed I stopped. I saw the grey hoddie he was wearing and decided he looked to friendly, I pulled his hoodie over his head and rolled his sleeves up exposing his muscled arms.
"Do I look tough?" He questioned. "No you still look like a fifteen year-old kid that still plays with LEGO." I stated and I turned back around walking into the alley.
"Wait how do you kn-" He was immediately cut off when he saw the brawl happening further down the alley. Monty held a knife clear in his hands as many people were trying to pull it off him. I heard Monty holler until I noticed Finn being one of the prime people tackling him for the knife. I began to run down the damp concrete until an elastic force pulled me back. I looked at my hand and saw a trail of web leading back to Peter.
"What are you doing Peter!" I hissed. "No, no we should just go back this looks really dangerous." He whisper-yelled. I grunted in frustration dipping down to my Doc Martins and pulling up my black jeans to reveal a small knife. In a swift movement I cut myself free from Peter and dropped the knife on the concrete.
I ran towards the mess of people fighting to contain one singular person. I shoved people out of the way until I was able to push myself into the centre of the brawl. People pushed and shoved against me as they yelled in my ears Monty's name. At this point I had only noticed that Monty was trying to use the knife on himself not anyone else. Finn used all his strength to pull him back and attempt to grab the weapon. Finn's face was full of strain as his perfect rows of teeth were on display as sweat trickled down his forehead.
I grabbed Finn and yanked him off Monty and stood in front of Monty as he held the blade to his neck. Sweat was also visable on his hairy face as tears brimed at his eyes at the sight of me. The crowd backed up a little giving as a small amount of space. The fire barrels around us admitted a soft and warm light in the dark night.
"What are you doing Monty?" I shook my head slightly. "This is Monty's crew, you don't belong here." He stated coldly. The crowd broke into a fit of small whispers. But before I could even muster up a reply he started talking in his patronizing voice of hate.
"Because, because Rogue here; went off and got a life. She gets money, she drives a Jeep at fifteen like who can do that? Rogue she's got it good. But after everything was going so damn well for her she left me here to rot in drinks and bongs, she left us here." He says out to the crowd. "You left me here, after everything I did for you! All the fights I fort for you, anything I have taught you. I protected you when you had nobody. You only came back here because you felt sorry for me. And pity is such a horrible thing to feel for someone like me. I did so much for you! When you had nowhere to go and no one who gave a rats ass about you. I got beaten up for you, so many times. We faught to be were we are today but then you left me here, you were the only family I had. Rogue you don't care anymore." He stated angrily pointing his knife towards me.
"I am here to look after the little guy, but no one looks after me." He whispered bringing the knife back to the aching skin on his neck.
"Monty, Monty you listen to me right now. This, what you are doing its not going to fix anything, it's not going to end the pain. It's not going to make it better because when you die, all that's left is the dark, so many people here would miss you. And not because you give him a place to sleep or food to eat but because you are everything to these people. You are everything to me a friend, someone to look up to, a brother. I am so sorry I left you alone, I am selfish," I spoke emotionally as I slowly moved closer to him.
"I am not afraid," Monty speaks up. "Of death." He adds. "I know you aren't but I am. I am afraid of it taking the people I love." I say softly placing my hand on his forearm, the arm that held the knife to his neck.
"If you did this, I'd miss you a whole lot, so much it would hurt. It would hurt so many people because so many people care about you, you were never by yourself Monty. If I wasn't there for you then, let me be here now." I finished. My speech silenced the crowd.
Monty stared at me intensely. His eyes did not hold hate or anger. He was sad, he was only sad, like me. As I stared into his eyes I saw something, his skin seemed to tingle against mine as pictures crossed my eyes. Images I was sure no one else could see.
I saw vast colours that formed into a landscape; Australia. I saw a dark room with a little girl laying her head against the dirty walls. Electicity flickered through her small frame causing her to scream a ear wrenching scream and once it was all over a small boy hugged her tightly. Voiced overlapped voices until my name being repeated brought me back to reality.
"Rogue," Peter says awkwardly as he was not used to calling me by that name. He was standing slightly behind me with his hand on my shoulder, the entire crowd stared at me, I turned back to Monty who had wide eyes. I wasn't sure what had just happened or what anyone else had seen.
Monty grabbed my hand and placed his knife into my hand. He gave a strange look to Peter, a stranger. "You should go." Monty whispered.
"Are you going to be okay?" I questioned. Monty nodded slowly, he still seemed startled by something as if he was in some kind of of trance.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I quickly told him. I walked over to a boy named Jake. He was a midly responsible sixteen year old I had known for around a year.
"Keep an eye on him." I nodded towards Jake and he gave me a respectful one back. As Peter and I walked out of the alley in silence, footsteps ran towards us from behind. I already knew who it was before they reached us.
"Rough night," Finn sighed. "We'll walk you home." I say softly.
Once Finn was safely home Peter and I entered the lobby and stopped in the middle of the glass building, knowing this is the part where he goes to his room and I go to mine. The problem was, I didn't want him to go to a room Tony sorted for him, I wanted him to come back and sleep at mine.
"Hey Peter?" I asked. "Yeah?" He replied quickly as he had not spoken much on the walk home and he was desperate to break the tension.
"You wanna come watch Star Wars with me?" I questioned. His face lit up like Christmas lights.
A few hours later Peter had fallen asleep in the reclining chair with my head rested against his shoulder. When the movie had ended I pulled my blanket over his body and turned the Tv off. I left a little dim lamp on and went to my own bed, I stared out the bay window and soon my eyes drifted into sleep.
