The roads were blocked and Tony still wasn't back, as usual and it would be dark soon. Peter and I spent the day in the labs, I showed him some cool stuff Tony had been working on. But his Aunt would freak out if he wasn't home in time, so we were forced to take the subway, well Peter was forced to take the subyway, I just came along with him.
We were soaked by rain when we found a seat on the train. The train wasn't as packed as it usually would be, a few spare seats here and there. I took the window seat and Peter sat beside me as I held my arms across my torso to warm my body. The rain had really hit us hard while we ran to the subway.
"You cold?" Peter asked. "A little," I answered. He out his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. I rested my head on his shoulder and stared down at Peter's cracked phone in his hands as he messages his Aunt.
"What happened to your phone?" I questioned. "Perks of being spiderman." He snickered. I saw a flash of yellow on his wrist and I pulled his sleeve up a little, I saw the ribbon that I had tied around his wrist.
"You still have it on?" I frowned looking up at him. "Well it's for good luck remember?" He responded. I glanced out the window and saw the sun going down past the buildings, we were going to be on this train for around half an hour and it did kinda suck that Peter lived so far away.
"Did you have a good four days?" I asked staring down at his hands in his lap. "Yeah, I did. I am going to tell Ned all about it." He chuckled making my head move up and down awkwardly.
"Bestfriend?" I guessed. "Since grade seven." He added. "Oh yeah he's the one that you build LEGO with," I teased.
"How do you know so much about me?" He questioned, a little concerned. "When you didn't have the chip in your head I had already learnt a lot about you."
"Well that's unfair in comparison because I know barely anything about you," Peter complained.
"Well, I hate most people. I have a huge soft spot for dogs and spiders apparently, my favourite colour is yellow and I like vanilla milkshakes." I say. "You just told me a bunch of things I already knew." Peter mocked.
"Well I am not very interesting," I laughed to myself. "I don't believe that." Peter replied firmly.
"Tell me things I don't know." He added. "Well; my favourite movie is The Shining, I don't know why but I've seen it so many times I know all the words. I met Bruno Mars once and spilt apple juice on him,"
"What? Really?" Peter scoffed. "Yes it was not good." I quickly said. "Hey you just told me your favourite movie, that means I can make fu-" I quickly interupted him. "No you won't, " I stated. "You're probably right."
"I used to have a dog named Milly but she got ran over by a garbage truck. I've been to juvy before that was really fun." I say sarcastically.
"Wait, really? What for?" Peter said his whole demeanor changing. "Relax Peter I didn't kill anyone but... just beat them up a little," I say ashamed. Peter lifted me from his shoulder and looked directly at me.
"Who did you hurt?" He frowned. I was worried about this, he wouldn't like my past or what I have done.
"I used to fight people on the streets. Like a street fighter, not that I wanted the money I just craved social acceptance. But I got into juvy for beating up some kid who was messing around with Finn's sister, Bree. He was harassing her and he deserved it but I got the blame. Peter I am not who I used to be. I used to be in a gang, all those people in the alley that night? They were like my family, Monty he was like my brother. They looked after me before Stark did. But I had to leave him, I had to stop smoking and drinking because I wanted a life and Tony was generous enough to give me one."
"I am sorry if I freaked you out," I added. "You didn't freak me out," He said pulling me back into our side hug. He rested his cheek on the top of my head and thats how we sat until the train arrived at our destination.
We stood out the front of Peter's apartment building it was dark and sprinkling rain.
"I guess now it's goodbye," I say stuffing my hands into the pockets of my jacket. "No, it's not goodbye, it's see you later." He smiled. "When's your train come?" He added.
"Ten minutes." I lied. "Do you want me to wait?" He questioned. "No," I chuckled. "It's okay I am a big girl. See you later Pete," I responded. He suddenly wrapped his arms around my small body and I layed my head on his chest. The hug was quick and it was over before I wanted it to be.
"See you later Bonnie." He smiled and I watched him turn around and walk into the building waving at me when he reached the stairs, I waved back until I couldn't see him anymore.
I exhaled loudly. How could I have grown so attacted to this boy in such a short period of time? I kicked a small pepple at my feet and watched it bounce across the empty roads. It was dark and there was no other people in sight. Tony would kill me if he knew where I was right now.
The train didn't come for another hour and I wasn't sure what do with myself. I walked back down the street Peter and I had just walked up and turned a corner a few cars drove past but I was just left alone on the damp and dark streets. The cool breeze kissed my cheeks as pulled my hood over my head. I saw a well lit intersection ahead and I followed the light were I knew I'd feel safer.
But suddenly I heard a whistle from a man behind me. His name was George Lancaster, he was thirty-four and he was an oprhan is whole life. He had no family apart from his bulldog he named frog, not really sure why you'd name your dog after a tree hugging fish with legs. He was also with another man, his name was Alex he was twenty-two and had a sick sister he had to look after. His intentions seemed purer then the other man's.
I stopped right in the middle of the street, an unexpected move to make according to the men. They needed money, George needed it to fuel his gambling rage, Alex in which his friends call Lex needed money for his sister.
"Hey hey what's a little girl like you doin' walking around these streets at night, hm?" George spoke up in a raspy voice. I stayed dead silent, Alex apparently felt creepy vibes from me.
"I haven't got any money." I spoke in a half yell. I took the hoodie of my head but still kept my back facing the men. My stance was stiff and my feet were planted in place.
"Oh I am sure ya don't," George grinned walking closer to me. "Ya got a phone? Jewelry, huh? Maybe even some change in ya pockets." The man slurred. I suddenly felt the barrel of a gun pressed to my back.
"George, so tense, angry. Is that only because your mother, a hooker, left you on the street in a box all by yourself. Grew up in some shitty ass orphanage across town and was never really able to stray that far from it. Couldn't get outta Queens because of the ankle brace huh? Out of the two of us George, one of us is walking away uninjured and my selfish tendencies seem to lean in favour of me." I spoke clearly over the rain that began to pour down heavier.
"How do you know that! How do you know that!?" The man yelled angrily threatenly shoving the gun deeper into my spine. I didn't move, I hadn't flinched at his outburst. I stayed calm. He was scared and I wasn't.
"I know everything George Lancaster, your thoughts are so loud," I say patronizingly.
"Who are you?" He quivered. "I am Rogue," I answered quickly before I turned around grabbing the barrel of the gun and aiming it at his feet as he shoot the gun. A flash of light beamed and the man screamed out in agony. I elbowed his back with so much force he fell to the puddles in the gutter.
I bent down to the man as his eyes were scrunched shut and his breathing grew rapid. I saw the watch on his hand reflect my interest as I took it from his wrist, the man did not try to stop me.
I reached my hand foward and placed my hand on his head. I wasn't sure what exactly I was doing but I felt something telling me to do so. My fingers touched his buzz cut head and I slowly shut my eyes. I saw every bad thought he ever thunk and every bad thing he had committed and I took it away, replacing the memories as happy or positive. I took away his need to gamble and steal. I then took away any memory he had of Alex. I healed his wounds and left the passed out man laying in the gutter.
I looked over to Alex who was frozen in place with fear. I slowly walked closer to him. Every emotion and thought admitted from him was fear, I placed the overally expensive watch in his hands.
"You save her, he won't remember you, go." I stated. He didn't need to be told twice as he bolted down the street and soon out of sight. I turned around and saw George was waking up.
"Oh, sir are you okay?" I say rushing over to the man with a fake facade. "I saw you trip in the gutter," I say rushing to help him up.
"Oh thank you, I am okay really." He smiled brightly. "Thank you for your kindness, but you really shouldn't be around at this time of night. There are bad people out here. Be careful." He stated worrying for me.
"It's okay, I'll be safe, bye sir." I waved him off and as soon as I saw him disappear down the street I had the terrible feeling of being watched. I looked arcoss the street and saw Spiderman perched on top of a building watching me through the intense rain.
I could barely see him through the heavy rain but he was visable, I looked down at the gun at my feet, I kicked it into the storm drain in the gutter. I looked up again and he was gone.
