Jaxon stared up at the one who called himself Ryan for a while, wondering what his role was in the pack. He didn't remember hearing anything about a Ryan who could levitate and put out fires. A pack filled with magicians, Jaxon couldn't help but think. The Stanwood Pack was shady as fuck.
'Well, what in the name of X-Men is going on here?' Jaxon couldn't wipe the shock off his face as he stared at frigging Magneto without his metals. 'Now I'm convinced that y'all fucked me up and not just that soldier.'
'So it's true,' Ryan's eyebrow shot up. 'All this is because of some mission that has nothing to do with us. So what was the plan? Storm in here like terminator and end every member of this pack?'
'You are a living, breathing evidence that you guys were in on what happened in my country.' Jaxon sneered.
'We didn't even know you existed,' Ryan snorted. 'And that soldier was only doing his job.'
'And is he supposed to be doing his job with the help of supernatural powers?' Jaxon snapped. 'Isn't that against the rules or something like that?'
'You're a fine one to talk.' Ryan rolled his eyes. 'As if you don't use your strength as a werewolf to do jobs for humans for money.'
'I'm an individual. That asshole is a soldier working for a country. Why should he be using supernatural powers for that? The last time I checked, exposing that shit was punishable by death. Are you motherfuckers above the law or something?' The disgust on Jaxon's face said it all. He loathed the pack.
'You know what...' Ryan began but got cut off by Jaxon.
'I'm not going to stand here and argue with you, whoever you are. Kill me or let me go.'
'Oh, if I wanted you dead, you wouldn't be standing,' Ryan looked amused. 'Seen all those wolves waiting to pounce?' Jaxon tried to drop his gaze to look at the wolves but couldn't. 'The only thing standing between them and you is me. I should probably let them at you.'
'What's stopping you?'
Ryan tilted his head to the side, his eyes still locked on Jaxon's. 'I honestly don't know,' he whispered. 'But something is stopping me, all right.'
'Well...'
'Until I know why, I'm going to give you a...room. Nothing fancy. Is that your truck?' The man took his gaze off Jaxon to look beyond him.
Jaxon realized that he could finally turn his head to look behind him. He would have moved, but he still couldn't. Shit!
'Yea. Why?' He gasped when His Toyota Tundra suddenly disappeared. 'What the fuck did you do to it?'
'Just keeping it safe in the pack house. Now, enjoy your quarters.'
'Wait a min...' But before he could complete what he was saying, Jaxon found himself in... "a fucking dungeon?" Jaxon looked and sounded stunned. "Well, bullocks!"

"Come on, Ryan," Stan growled. "His death should have been instant. Not only did he come at my mate and shoot at us, but he also attempted to destroy the pack's central core."
"Please, Stan," Ryan sighed. "It just doesn't feel..."
"I'm not with you on this one, Ryan," Paige breathed, her claws already extended. She was virtually shaking with fury. "Do you know what would have happened if the pups had been on that court with us?"
"They weren't though," Ryan mumbled, looking very relaxed.
"Lip? Jer?" Stan addressed his two friends with fire in his eyes. He could feel how fiercely his mate was struggling to stay calm and wanted some justice to prevail before the soldier lost his shit. "You know I'm right."
Jeremy gave a deep sigh. "Before I get into this..."
"Talk to me, zaddy," Ryan leisurely crossed his legs and turned smoldering green eyes on his mate who suddenly looked flustered.
"Oh no, he didn't," Stan bellowed even as chuckles erupted from the people gathered.
"You've never..." Jeremy began to speak but couldn't seem to find the words.
"I know," Ryan said softly. "I've never called you that," he added with a shrug and a smile.
"He's buttering you up, Jer," Philip rasped but even he couldn't suppress his smile.
"I don't know what to say." Jeremy looked dazed. "Thank you, darling."
"You're welcome, Sir," Ryan responded smoothly, killing his mate even more.
And even as Jeremy's head fell back with a groan, everyone burst into laughter...except Paige, Stan, and Will.
After the laughter died down, Jeremy sat straight with a confused expression. "Where was I?" he breathed, causing another bout of laughter.
"Man's got willy wobbles," George laughed even as Jeremy gave him the finger.
"Baby, Stan is right," Jeremy Stanton finally said quietly. "That fool needs to be given the most painful death immediately. No one goes against Stanwood and lives to see the next sunrise."
"Is it possible you feel that way because you had a conversation with him?" Philip asked Ryan.
"It's not because of that." Ryan shook his head. "It's just a feeling I have. I'm just pleading with you guys. After all, that rogue is going nowhere..."
"Except that he's breathing," Paige growled, eyes which had turned amber trained on her friend. Her wolf was clearly close and wanted out.
"Last time I checked, you were not the owner of the air, Paige," Ryan chuckled as he rose from his seat and went to Paige. "Calm down," He murmured as he slipped his fingers into her hair and gently rubbed her scalp, releasing some calming energy to her in the process. "There..." he whispered when Paige's claws began to retract.
"Until when are we to keep him under our roof, alive and eating our food?" Stan asked.
"Until Ryan says it's okay to handle it the Stanwood way," Gloria Stanton responded smoothly as she entered the meeting room where the discussion was being held. "Hey, honey." She threw Ryan a brilliant smile.
"Aw, thank god," Ryan gasped as he went to hug his mother-in-law to the amusement of his mate and the annoyance of Stan. He'd called Gloria to come and support him when he realized that everyone in the meeting room, including his silly mate, was against him.
"Aw, come on, Mama G," Stan threw up his hands in angry frustration. "He has to die and you know it," he growled.
"And just who are you growling at, young man?" Gloria snapped.
"Sorry," Stan murmured as he dropped his eyes. His dark scowl made him look like an angry little boy who was being told off by his mother. Gloria softened at his look.
"No one is saying he doesn't deserve to die, Stanley," She sighed. "Just give it some time and let's see what comes up."
"He shot me in the arse, for fuck's sake," Stan scowled, drawing chuckles and snorts from the others despite the seriousness of the situation.
"And that arse looks mighty fine to me," Gloria chuckled. "I always say there's a reason for everything. Remember Paul?"
"Paul wasn't a threat to the pack," Philip breathed. "He didn't shoot at us or burn our cars, houses and our woods, Mama G..."
"Lip..." Gloria groaned, obviously disappointed that her son-in-law whom she was hoping would see her point and calm tempers in his capacity as the alpha seemed not to agree with her at all.
"But I do get you," Philip added with a sigh. "That rogue is no threat to anyone whilst stuck in a dungeon."
"Ya think?" Stan growled.
"What can he do?" Philip snorted, "command bombs to..." A piercing whistle from Pete cut Philip off midsentence.
"Mama Mia..." Pete purred as all eyes turned on Kate who had just entered the meeting room. "Must have been some party."
"Damn woman!" George's eyes looked like they were about to pop out of their sockets as they ran over the head of warriors.
Everyone stared. She looked absolutely delicious in a chic, slinky burgundy dress. The alluring backless design was just unreal. Her neckline was cut so deep it looked as though the only thing stopping its further descent were her nipples. The only thing that seemed to hold the little dress together were the two gold strings that loosely tied the dress on each hip. It didn't look like there was even room for panties. Blessed with a body like an hourglass and an arse that could easily give great content on TikTok, it looked as though the dress had been designed with Kate in mind. Teamed with her classy lace-up heels and simple gold accessories, she looked too sexy for words.
"What did I miss?" Kate asked as she threw her cute clutch onto the table.
"Just your people here being unreasonable, that's all," Gloria snorted as she glared at the werewolves. "Ryan is not saying the rogue should be allowed to go scot-free. All he's saying is for you to give it some time. If y'all need some action, how about some Arena game? Or better still, good old sex? Huh?" She gave Stan a pointed look. "And Kelvin, stop doing those press-ups. You're not going to face off with anyone." Despite how everyone was feeling, they all laughed except for Will.
"I want to talk to the bastard," he said quietly.
"Baby..." Stan reached for Will's hand.
"Not a good idea, Will," Philip groaned. "These rogues are experts in yanking chains. He will only annoy you with his utterances."
"I'll go with you, Wi..." Almost everyone shouted no before Paige could even complete her sentence.
"Why don't you guys want Paige to go with him?" Kate asked, totally amused.
"Because she'd break the fucker's neck," Philip chuckled.
"As she should," Kate shrugged. "Why are we keeping him alive?"
"My mate feels we have to for now?" Jeremy's bored tone made Ryan roll his eyes.
"Right. I should probably accompany you then." Kate wrapped an arm around Will's waist. "After all, I'm the only one here who hasn't worked herself into a frenzy. And I need to see this guy who dared to come for Stanwood Pack."
"Sure you ain't drunk?" Pete smirked.
"Just a little," Kate squinted as she pinched her thumb and index finger together. "But the most important thing is that I'm not burning with fury at the moment so I can stop Will if that idiot pushes him to the wall."
"Erh... I've warded his cell so none of you can enter even if you try to," Ryan managed to look apologetic. "Sorry."
"Good," Gloria nodded. "'Cause from what I'm seeing, you lot would break down that dungeon door and send him straight to his maker at the least provocation."
"Well, he's your responsibility for as long as he remains breathing," Jeremy addressed his mate. "None of us will be blamed if something happens to him should we say...find him outside his cell." He shrugged as if he wasn't talking about taking a life or indirectly authorizing anyone to take the rogue's life should they see him outside his cell.
Ryan shook his head slowly at his mate, the look in his eyes one of disappointment. "Noted."
Go with Kate, Will," Gloria said softly to the somewhat calm soldier. "She wants him dead too but at least she's not burning with as much fury this very moment."
"Come on, darling," Kate said as she steered Will towards the door. "I'm dying to see this buffoon."

"Be careful," Will cautioned as he and Kate descended the stairs to the dungeons. "I'd hate for you to trip in those heels because of the shitty arsonist."
"That's such a cowardly move if you ask me," Kate chuckled.
"Somehow, he doesn't strike me as a coward," Will rasped, nodding at the guard who held open the metal door that led to the dungeons for them. "I have a feeling all that was just to get my attention,"
"Well, he has it now, the cocky bastard," Kate muttered. "Sup, Dwayne." She bumped fists with the guard.
"Nothing much, Katie," the guard responded. "The prisoner is in the last cell on this corridor," He informed them.
"Thanks, buddy. I hope he hasn't..." Kate trailed off when her phone started to ring. "Shit," She muttered when she saw who was calling. "I've got to take this, Will. Give me just a moment."
"Alright," the soldier responded but kept moving down the corridor. He didn't wait for Kate.

In his cell, Jaxon sat on his narrow stone bed with his back against the wall that was also made out of stone. The bed, which had no mattress, pillow, or covering, was attached to the wall. His eyes were closed but he was not asleep. He heard footsteps approaching but didn't move. He hadn't seen anyone since Ryan deposited him in the cell earlier that day. He wondered who was coming to see him. Probably the pack's executioner, he thought. Well, fuck whoever it was. He knew what was going to happen to him but didn't really give a fuck. His only regret was that the soldier still lived. Jaxon hoped he still got a chance to ice his arse. Even when the footsteps stopped in front of his cell, he didn't open his eyes. Then he heard that voice...
"You bastard!" Will breathed, staring at the rogue who had caused so much mayhem through the iron bars. He watched as Jaxon's eyes opened, the hate within them mirroring his.
"How about you step in here, huh?" the look in Jaxon's eyes belied his nonchalant smile. "Let's settle this like werewolves or men if you prefer that. No mumbo jumbo like you used the other time. What do you say?"
"All in good time," Will rasped. "Just know that your days are numbered."
"Threats, threats..." Jaxon laughed. "What's stopping you now? Need a power boost from witches to face me, I suppose. You're a disgrace to all werewolves and soldiers, Ian Williams. Your mama must be turning in her grave."
Will furiously hit the bars but they didn't even rattle. "Don't you dare..."
"What?" Jaxon chuckled. "Mention your mama? How about Sharon? Or little Rodney? Baby Ava is adorable, by the way." His eyes twinkled with glee. It was apparent the soldier was furious and could barely contain himself. And Jaxon was loving it. "Have any idea what I have in store for them?" Jaxon murmured and then grinned when he saw a flash of fear in the soldier's eyes. "A call to bid them farewell would be in order."
"If anything happens to my..."
"Is Stan around?" Jaxon tilted his head to the side and gave Will a thoughtful look. "Maybe a farewell fuck this evening..." The wicked grin was back. "Hey, that's just some friendly advice. I'm a nice..." he suddenly trailed off and sniffed the air... "What's that?" He asked just as a bewildered-looking Kate appeared beside Will.
"Holy Moses, what do we have here?" Jaxon gasped as he shot to his feet and approached the iron bars with eyes filled with confused shock...and pure lust. "Damn, you're fine," He murmured, allowing his eyes to rack over the sexy dark-skinned bombshell standing beside Will. "You hitting this hottie on the side, boy?" Though his question was clearly for Will, his hungry eyes remained on Kate.
"Shut your mouth, you prick," Will growled but that only seemed to amuse Jaxon even more.
"Come on, learn to share," he smirked. At that very moment, Jaxon knew he'd give anything to be buried balls deep in the sweet warmth of that woman. And he didn't keep it to himself. "Fancy a fuck?" he asked Kate.
"What!" Even though Will's outraged gasp was not out of place, his reaction was totally lost on the person on whose behalf he was livid.
Everything had ceased to exist for Kate except the prisoner!
**
Kate stared at the rogue. The look on her face was one of shock, intrigue, and...pure need. A part of her brain told her to run away from the injustice of it all but she couldn't move. She forgot how to breathe.
As she'd walked down the corridor towards where Will stood in front of the rogue's cell seconds earlier, she'd been hit by a scent so mouthwateringly amazing she'd literally staggered. She would have fallen if she hadn't leaned against the wall to catch her breath. Her heart had begun to pound within her chest, her mouth watered, and her entire body tingled. She had gasped as she felt her eyes shift.
The head of warriors for the Stanwood Pack just knew. Whoever Will was talking to in that cell was her mate. Kate wouldn't have been able to accurately describe what was happening within her. It was too exquisite a feeling to put into words. A feeling that had only intensified as she moved closer to where Will stood. And now, all she could do was stare at the rogue...her mate! She knew she was fucked!
Kate could tell that the rogue was talking to her but she couldn't hear a word he was saying, thanks to the blood thundering in her ears. She'd never seen a more sexily dangerous-looking man. She stared into the most electrifying eyes she had ever seen and couldn't look away. She couldn't move either even though all she wanted was to go inside that cell to take what was hers. Her wolf was going crazy inside her. Those lips... she needed to taste them so bad. When Kate felt the painful tightening in her chest and began to feel faint, she couldn't tell what was happening. Then she heard a hot, rough voice say;
"Breathe..."
Kate blinked and took in a deep breath. "Oh god..." She breathed shakily. For a rogue, her mate was very observant. But for his prompt, she would have surely passed out.
"Are you okay, Kate?" Will gave the head of warriors a curious look as he pulled her away from the iron bars. The spaces in between the bars were big enough for a hand to pass through. A warded cell only stopped a prisoner from getting out. It wouldn't prevent his hands from going through the bars. And one couldn't trust what a rogue like Jaxon could do.
"Yes, yes I'm good," Kate answered breathlessly. "Just a little lightheaded that's all." Her eyes never left the rogue's. She was so glad that Will was new to the werewolf world and couldn't tell what was happening.
"Kate," Jaxon grinned. It was such a sexy, predatory grin Kate felt sensual heat blaze through her body. "Lovely name. I asked you a question, Kate." Jaxon stared at Kate with heated eyes.
"Huh?" Kate took another deep breath, her tongue running over her dry lips. She didn't miss how the rogue's eyes darkened with lust as they dropped to her lips. Her body reacted to the heat in those eyes. The muscles clenched between her legs as her heart raced. "What question?" She breathed shakily.
"I want to fuck you so desperately it's not even funny." Jaxon sounded surprised. "You game?" His smoldering gaze ran over Kate.
"Let's get out of here, Kate," Will growled.
"Aw butt out, mate," Jaxon snapped without even looking at Will. It would be so easy, he thought lustfully. It didn't look like she even had on any... "Do you have on panties beneath that tiny dress?" he asked huskily.
"I..." Kate swallowed hard. One thing was evident to her in that instant... The rogue didn't know she was his mate. It was evident that he felt the pull too. He just didn't know what it was. She thought somethings were not taught...the beings within just knew. Clearly, not her rogue. Kate didn't know whether to see that as a blessing or a curse. "I..." Her heart pounded.
"You must be drunker than we thought," Will murmured, taking in how weirdly the head of warriors was behaving.
"I will pay if you'd prefer that," Jaxon said, ignoring Will. "Listen, do you twats grant last wishes before you kill people?" His gaze shifted briefly onto Will. "'Cause mine would definitely be to be allowed to tap this fine..."
"Will you shut up?" Will bellowed. "I just wanted to let you know that you will pray for death when the time comes." With that final threat, Will turned on his heels. "Come on, Kate."
Kate turned to follow Will but Jaxon's voice stopped her. That sexy twang, fuck!
"You know you want me just as much as I want you, darling," He drawled, his gaze stripping her. "I can smell your arousal. Just one quick fuck."
"Is that all you think about?" Kate breathed. "Sex?"
"All I've thought about for the past three months is killing that soldier," Jaxon shrugged. "But fucking you just became my number one mission. Do you blame me? You're banging hot."
And when Kate abruptly turned to go, Jaxon felt panic which both confused and scared him. What was wrong with him? What was it about the girl that made him want her that badly he wondered. He'd never even come on to a girl that strongly.
As a rogue, Jaxon had never been part of a pack and had therefore missed all the basic teachings. He had not been taught about the emotions a werewolf could experience in some situations and what they meant. He knew that werewolves mated sometimes but had no idea how it was supposed to feel like when a mate was found. He therefore thought he was merely massively attracted to the sexy girl.
For the longest time, Jaxon remained where he stood. Not only could he not get Kate off his mind, but he couldn't go soft for some reason. He wondered whether the lust he felt for Kate was all part of whatever weird shit that went on in that pack. He wasn't one to chase after girls for sex. It wasn't a priority for him. Apart from the occasional hookups, he stayed away from girls because he wasn't interested in any commitment or relationship bullshit. His strong attraction to Kate and the urgent need to have her therefore surprised the hell out of him.
"What kind of weird shit is going on in this pack," He breathed.
