This was intended to be the final chapter, but due to its length, I've decided to split it into two parts. Therefore, you can look forward to one more chapter, which will truly be the conclusion.

In the dim glow of the early morning, Kate stood in her empty apartment in the Pack house and allowed her gaze to sweep over the familiar surroundings. She hadn't slept there in a while. Not since she started sharing Jaxon's room in the mansion. She felt herself tear up as she took in the neat room she'd slept in for the past four years. She'd moved in when she reached the age of eighteen. Gloria thought she was old and responsible enough to have her own space. She'd been over the moon, she recalled. That house had become her sanctuary.

Kate reflected on her myriad of experiences in that apartment, from the joyful gatherings to moments of youthful sorrow. Each part of the house held special memories for her. As she prepared to start a new chapter, she felt a mix of excitement and sadness. Although she longed deeply for her mate—craved his touch and desire and was eager for the life ahead, her heart was heavy with sadness at leaving her beloved home.

A few of her belongings had been left in the room she'd shared with Jaxon in the mansion, designated as their space for future visits. Ryan had decided to teleport ahead with the rest of her stuff. His plan was to leave them in the room he'd shared with Jeremy during their visit. Jaxon had no idea what was going on and Kate couldn't wait to see the surprise on his face when he finally found out. After a final look at her home of four years, Kate left for the mansion, to wait for Jeremy and Philip, who were meeting with the elders.

"Oh wow!" Kate's breath hitched, her eyes brimming with tears as she gazed at the growing crowd gathered in front of the mansion. People continued to arrive from every direction, each one clearly there to bid her farewell.

The sight of their familiar faces, excited smiles, and warm expressions touched her deeply. Overwhelmed, she parked her car, rested her head against the steering wheel, and surrendered to her tears. A chorus of shocked gasps filled the air as the crowd witnessed their stoic head of warriors breaking down, a sight most of them had never seen before. When Kate heard a rap on her window, she lifted her head to see Paige beckoning her to join them. Kate stepped out of the car and heaved a sigh as Paige wrapped her in a comforting embrace.

"This has definitely got to be the handiwork of that baby," Paige whispered, coaxing a gentle laugh from Kate despite her tears.

"I've been crying a lot of late, you know." Kate groaned.

"I blame this baby's daddy for all the previous tears," Paige responded, making Kate laugh some more.

"I agree this particular one is the baby's fault," Stan said, rubbing Kate on the back.

"I feel as if I'm drowning in a sea of emotions," Kate groaned, stepping into Stan's embrace. After a moment, she stepped back and spotted Will. Surprised, she asked, "Aren't you supposed to be at work?" Known for his early starts, Will's presence added to the unexpected moments of the day.

"And miss all this?" Will chuckled, hugging Kate.

"Aw, how sweet. Thank you."

Kate was enveloped in a series of warm hugs from the crowd, which included almost all the pack's warriors, there to see off their leader. Some lifted and twirled her joyfully, while others tried to conceal their sadness with brave smiles as they gave her lingering embraces. Others simply cried, which sparked fresh tears from Kate.

As the mingling and tearful farewells continued, the atmosphere shifted with the arrival of a procession of about eight cars. The crowd quieted as the vehicles smoothly rolled to a halt. With a palpable sense of anticipation, every head turned as the doors opened. A group of elders emerged, accompanied by Jeremy and Philip, their presence adding solemnity to the occasion. Gloria, stepping forward with a tremulous smile, was the first to embrace Kate.

"I can't believe the time has come already, Mama G," Kate sobbed, overwhelmed by the complex blend of excitement and sorrow swirling inside her chest. "I wasn't ready. It feels unreal leaving home."

"Oh, sweetheart." Gloria held Kate tightly, her voice trembling as she spoke, tears streaming down her cheeks. "It will forever remain your home, you know. You can come back at any time."

"I know," Kate sobbed. "It's just so hard..."

"I wish you didn't have to go so far. But I know it's the best for you, the baby, and Jaxon." She sniffled. "It still doesn't make it any easier to let you go, though." Her words, filled with a mix of joy and sorrow, resonated deeply with everyone present.

"Mum, come on, you know you can see her anytime you want to," Jeremy snorted. "All you need to do is ask Ryan or Deloris."

"It still doesn't make it easier," Gloria retorted, glaring at her son, who wore an amused expression. "Del and I will be there next week," she addressed Kate in a softer tone.

"And us too, Mama G," Pete called out, eliciting a laugh from Gloria.

"Yes, and the crazy duo," Gloria rolled her eyes with an amused chuckle. She was referring to Pete and George, who, along with the two elders, were scheduled to visit Kate and Jaxon soon.

The other elders took turns wishing Kate well, each promising to stay in touch frequently through calls. Deloris materialized in their midst, holding a beautiful pink handmade blanket.

"I found it, Mama G.," the warlock announced, her voice tinged with triumph as she addressed a radiantly smiling Gloria.

"Oh, thank Luna." Gloria beamed as she stared at the blanket.

Turning to Kate, Deloris said softly, "This belonged to you." She leaned forward and planted a tender kiss on Kate's cheek. "I have blessed it for the baby. They can sometimes become restless in there, you know." She handed over the delicately embroidered blanket to Kate. "Just drape this over your stomach. It will soothe her and calm her movements."

Kate caressed the blanket, her face awash with deep emotion, her eyes shimmering. Each gentle stroke seemed to trace the contours of cherished memories. "Thank you, Del... This means the world to me." She hugged Deloris tightly.

"Remember, you're not alone out there," the warlock said softly. "We're only a call or a teleport away, anytime you or the baby need anything, okay?"

Kate nodded, smiling through tears. "I know. Thank you." Her heart jumped and her eyes went wide in anticipation when Ryan materialized beside his mate. "He's back," she whispered, staring at Ryan.

"Time to go," Gloria said, hugging Kate one last time. "Take care of yourself, darling. Make sure you're eating well, and don't stress too much. We will see you soon."

"Alright, Mama G. Thank you for everything." With that, she went to where Ryan stood with Jeremy and Philip. "Is he home?" she asked Ryan.

"It's three a.m. over there, Kate. Where else would he be?" Ryan chuckled just as one elder pulled Kate aside for a quick chat.

"What was he doing?" Philip asked as Stan, Will, and Paige joined them.

"He's holed up in his library, looking like a kid who's lost his favourite toy," Ryan deadpanned. "Guy looked like he hadn't showered in three days." His straight-faced delivery sent a wave of laughter through the group.

"Shit!" Philip groaned. "I don't think he'll be too thrilled to be seen by his mate in that state."

"Don't worry, I pushed him a thought to take a shower and shave, as his fastidious mate would surely disapprove if she saw him in his current disheveled state." Ryan shrugged.

"And..." Jeremy watched his mate with a raised brow. "Did he do it?"

"Let's just say the speed with which he darted for the bathroom made me think for a moment that the hounds of hell were on his heels." Ryan drawled. The others dissolved into laughter.

"Damn, Prof," Philip chuckled, shaking his head in amusement as he started towards Kate, who was still talking with the elder. The alpha knew he had to rescue her from the conversation before it got lengthy. "Time to go and be with your mate, kiddo," he announced.

"I love you all so much," Kate said out loud to the hearing of everyone.

"We love you too, Kate," the croud responded. "More than words can say," Paige added excitedly.

"Hasta la vista, baby," Stan called out, his humorous farewell drawing laughter from the crowd.

"Ready?" Ryan asked, taking Kate's hand and drawing her to his side.

"Take me to my man, Ryan," she breathed.

"Your wish is my command, ma'am."

Ryan and Jeremy each blew a kiss Gloria's way before their hands sought each other out, fingers intertwining in a gentle clasp.

And with a final wave from Kate and Jeremy, the trio disappeared.

"You must be going crazy," Jaxon muttered to his reflection in the bathroom mirror. His amused chuckle echoed in the tiled space.

Jaxon couldn't help but wonder why he had felt compelled to groom himself so meticulously at such an unusual hour. Shaking his head in amusement, he admired his neatly trimmed hair, perfectly shaved face, and the healthy glow of his skin. Above all, he smelled absolutely fantastic, and that alone made the spontaneous grooming session seem worthwhile.

Jaxon turned off the bathroom light and strode into his bedroom, completely bare. He made his way to the expansive walk-in closet, a masterpiece equipped with sensor-activated lights and built-in cabinetry that showcased a variety of clothing, shoes, and accessories. He had left a significant portion of the space empty, reserving it for Kate. The closet's luxury was further amplified by an elegant vanity area with backlit mirrors and a high-tech skincare fridge, both intended for Kate's use.

He grabbed a pair of sweatpants and pulled them on, still surprised he'd gone to such lengths to clean up, as if preparing for a significant event. He caught his reflection in one of the closet mirrors and couldn't help but notice his gaunt appearance. It was hardly surprising, given his lack of appetite and the constant pain and depression he endured. He couldn't wait for his banishment to come to an end. Jaxon had already booked his ticket to the States for the very day his punishment was to be lifted. He was desperate to reunite with his mate.

With a sigh, he returned to the bedroom, a space that radiated elegance and ambiance, crafting a sanctuary both beautiful and sophisticated. He settled onto the king-sized bed, leaning back against the plush, muted grey tufted headboard. Flanking the bed were elegant nightstands, each hosting a sleek, touch-activated lamp. He considered activating the large, frameless smart, voice-controlled TV mounted on the wall opposite the bed, but opted against it. Instead, he turned on the lamp beside him and grabbed a remote from the nightstand. With a simple click, the room was filled with soothing music emanating from the discreet ceiling speakers.

As Jaxon immersed himself in the music, his gaze wandered across the room, his thoughts returning, not for the first time, to Kate's potential reaction. He hoped she would like the room's design, he thought for the umpteenth time. He was sure Kate would adore the large, floor-to-ceiling windows adorned with automated curtains that could adjust the lighting with the mere touch of a button. The room also boasted a cozy seating area, a small dining area for two, a table-top fridge, and an inviting reading nook, complete with a comfortable armchair and a sleek, minimalist bookshelf filled with a diverse collection of books, some of which were Kate's favourite books. A stylish, overhanging floor lamp provided the perfect finishing touch to the nook, enhancing its charm.

Overall, Jaxon was impressed with the designer's ability to blend tasteful decor and cutting-edge gadgets seamlessly, crafting a space that was both aesthetically pleasing and functionally advanced. However, he acknowledged that Kate had the freedom to alter any aspect of the design as she saw fit. The mere thought of Kate in that space filled Jaxon with anticipation. He only needed to wait a month and a week to see his mate.

Jaxon must have dozed off because he woke up abruptly, startled by the sudden break in his slumber. Something had stirred him from his sleep, he was certain. He puzzled over what it could be. Thanks to the robust security system Stan had advised him to install, it was nearly impossible for anyone to breach his property. Even if someone did manage to get inside, he wasn't worried in the slightest—he was, after all, a werewolf.

"What the..." He sprang to his feet, surprised by the noise emanating from downstairs. But even as he opened the bedroom door to investigate the source of the disturbance, he heard Ryan's voice, clear and calm.

"We come in peace, Jaxon."

Jaxon was surprised to hear the warlock's voice but found himself amused as well. "What are you doing here, Ryan?" he chuckled, descending the stairs. "And who is 'we'?"

"Hey, Jaxon," Jeremy called out, just as Jaxon reached the bottom of the stairs.

Jaxon stood still, a frown on his face. "Is Kate okay?" he asked quietly.

"Why wouldn't she be?" Jeremy shot back.

Jaxon released the breath he'd been holding unconsciously. "Well, the two of you showing up unannounced—what was I supposed to think?" He chuckled as he flicked on the chandelier, its warm light cascading over the elegant living room. "So... what's up? What brings you here at this odd hour?"

"We brought her," Ryan said, gesturing towards the entrance where Kate stood, her gaze fixed on Jaxon.

When the gaze of a befuddled Jaxon landed on his mate, his knees buckled under the weight of his emotions. With a gasp, he dropped to his knees, tears welling up in his eyes as he looked up at her.

"What?" he breathed and simply stared. "Is this a trick?" he finally asked, tears spilling down his cheeks. "Tell me it's real, please," he whispered.

"This is very real, Jaxon," Jeremy said, turning to look at Kate. And that was when he noticed that her cheeks were equally wet with tears. "Kate?"

"I'm real, baby," the emotional warrior said shakily as she made her way to her sobbing mate. "Jax..." She went on her knees before Jaxon when she got to him and hugged him. "I'm here," she sobbed. "I'm here, baby."

But Jaxon couldn't stifle his sobs. Both remained on their knees, enveloped in each other's arms, surrendering to their tears as Jeremy and Ryan looked on. At one point, Ryan tried to step in, but Jeremy held him back. The alpha of alphas believed it was crucial for them to fully express their emotions and relief.

When they finally found calm, Jaxon gently wiped the tears from Kate's cheeks. Then unable to restrain himself, he began to tenderly scatter light kisses across her face, each gentle kiss a whisper of solace. He finally captured her lips in a kiss so fervent and filled with emotion, it seemed to embody all the love and desperation he felt inside. The kiss, deep and lingering, subdued their past pain, promising healing and a fortified bond against any challenge ahead.

Kate revelled in the kiss, her body melting, heating, and aching for more. The brush of his lips, the sensual dance of his tongue, his scent, the hard breadth of his chest, the way he held her, as if she was... everything. She was exactly where she wanted to be. As they parted, their eyes locked, sharing an unspoken joy at being together. As if they couldn't help themselves, their lips met again in a kiss so passionate that it drew a groan from Ryan.

"Y'all know you have an audience, right?" The warlock chuckled.

"As if that would stop them," his mate snorted. "Alright, allow us to handover quickly and get out of your hair, you two."

"Are you okay?" Jaxon whispered when they came up for air, his eyes locked on his mate's. "Your heart is pounding erratically." At her nod, he whispered fiercely, "I'm not going to allow you to go back."

"She's not going anywhere, Jaxon. Relax," Jeremy chuckled, easing himself into a seat. "How about you take a seat and listen to us?" His tone was light, teasing even, as he gestured for Ryan to take a seat too.

Jaxon took a seat and drew Kate onto his lap, tightening his arms around her as if she would disappear if he didn't hold on tight. Kate buried her face against his neck, overwhelmed by the moment and too emotional to speak. She inhaled deeply, as if trying to fill her lungs with his scent, seeking comfort and reassurance in his familiar presence.

"You smell amazing," she breathed.

"I took a shower not too long ago," Jaxon chuckled. "And I'm so glad I did." He sounded bemused, a smile playing on his lips. "It was almost as if something was telling me to clean up because you definitely wouldn't want to see me all unkempt and disheveled."

Kate's head shot up, her eyes locking onto her mate with a mix of incredulity and amusement. "Really?" she drawled, her tone laced with suspicion.

"I promise."

She turned her head to shoot Ryan a knowing look, which made the warlock burst into laughter. "I think I have an idea who might have given you that little nudge," she teased, her grin spreading. She then mouthed a silent 'thank you' in Ryan's direction, her eyes twinkling with gratitude and mirth.

"So... anything I need to know?" Jaxon asked.

"Well, it has become necessary to partially lift your punishment," Jeremy announced, a hint of amusement in his voice. "You're still banished from Stanwood and the States, at least for a few more weeks. But your mate needs to be with you... due to her condition."

"What?" Jaxon's head whipped around to stare at Kate, his brow furrowing in concern. "What condition?" he asked, his voice tight with worry, his eyes seeking clarification.

"Earlier, you commented about her heartbeat." Ryan addressed Jaxon, silently urging him to recall and piece together the significance of his earlier observation.

"Yes, it's pounding faster," Jaxon confirmed, his eyes moving back to his mate with a mix of concern about the unusual change. "Even now, it's pounding twice as fast." His voice dropped to a whisper as he searched Kate's face for answers. "What's wrong, baby?"

"I'm pregnant," she said simply, her gaze fixed intently on Jaxon. The words hung in the air, simple yet monumental, as she watched for his reaction.

Kate, Ryan, and Jeremy watched as a myriad of emotions flickered across Jaxon's face upon hearing the news of Kate's pregnancy. A moment of stillness followed as he processed the news, his expression a mix of surprise, disbelief, and awe. As the reality of becoming a father finally dawned on him, his eyes began to glisten, a shimmer of tears catching the light, betraying the overwhelming joy and vulnerability he felt. A gentle smile broke through, soft and tender as he looked at his mate with renewed affection and admiration, profound love, and gratitude.

"Kate," Jaxon whispered his mate's name reverently, his voice quivering with emotion. "Kate..." His arms tightened around her as he rested his head against her chest, surrendering to his tears. The overwhelming joy and gratitude left him speechless, unable to express in words the depth of what he felt. He simply held her close, letting his tears speak for him.

It was clear that Jaxon was experiencing more than just happiness and love; he was also feeling a profound sense of a new beginning... parenthood. Losing his family at a young age and becoming a loner had extinguished any hopes of finding a family to call his own. Kate was making that a reality, bringing him a joy that was beyond words. Overwhelmed with gratitude, all he could do was sob, each tear a testament to the depth of his emotions.

Ryan dabbed at his eyes, deeply moved by Jaxon's emotional reaction. When Jeremy offered a comforting hug, Ryan embraced it, letting go only when Jeremy had to step away to answer a call. As Jeremy exited the living room, Ryan flicked a hand and opened his palm to catch his own phone, which dropped from above. He'd strategically placed the phone in a corner of the living room to capture the reunion as he'd promised Paige. He turned off the camera and approached Jaxon, gently placing a hand on his back to convey a wave of calming energy, to soothe him.

"We're all so happy for you," Ryan said, his voice rich with warmth and empathy. "Everyone at Stanwood sends their congratulations."

"Thank you, Ryan." Jaxon lifted his head and focused on his mate. "Are you hungry?" he asked hoarsely. "What will you eat?"

Kate laughed softly, wiping at her cheeks. "I'm not hungry."

Ryan snorted. "Make sure she eats; she needs that energy for the baby," he advised firmly. "Her belongings are in the room I shared with Jer when we stayed over." Turning to Kate, he added with a gentle emphasis, "The baby's blanket is there too."

"Ready to go?" Jeremy asked his mate as he joined them. "I'm sure you two have a lot of catching up to do." He kissed Kate on the forehead. "Take good care of yourself. We will be calling often to check up on you." He turned to Jaxon and gave him a firm handshake. "Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything, alright?"

"Thank you, Jeremy," Jaxon said, his voice hoarse from all the sobbing. "And Ryan, I can't thank you enough." He rose to his feet and embraced Ryan tightly. "Please send my love to Sylver."

"I'll do that," Ryan said, moving to embrace Kate.

"Tell him to visit whenever he gets the chance," Jaxon said, drawing a chuckle from Jeremy.

"Oh, you don't want to throw such an open invitation," Ryan laughed. "Trust me on that."

"Talk to you soon," Jeremy said as he drew Ryan into his arms.

And as the alpha of alphas and his mate began to shimmer from sight, Jaxon and Kate heard Ryan's final words...

"Feed her!"

**

"How did your stuff get into that room?" Jaxon asked.

"Talk later," Kate whispered urgently, pulling Jaxon close as she pressed her lips to his in a fierce kiss that conveyed the depth of her desire and the intensity of her love.

Their kiss deepened, hungry and desperate as their mouths mated, tongues dancing in a fervent tangle of give and take that brought Kate to the brink of ecstasy. Each taste of Jaxon only stoked the fire of her need, intensifying her desire and sending shockwaves of longing through her. She needed to have him inside her so bad she couldn't breathe.

"I need you, Jax. Now!" She gasped against Jaxon's mouth, her hands running down his chest to cup the heaviness of his erection through his sweats. He was so hard. "Please!" She needed to come so badly.

Jaxon didn't need further prompting. "Let's go up..."

"No." Kate shook her head, longing searing her veins. "I can't wait," she stated in a matter-of-fact tone, her fingers dropping to the buttons of her baggy jeans.

"I'd rather you were comfortable, Kate," Jaxon rasped, the barely repressed lust in his voice sending a rush of excitement through Kate.

"I just need to feel you inside me for now," she breathed, nudging him onto the couch. "We can take our time later in bed." She pushed down her jeans, kicking restlessly until she got them off. "For now..."

"Christ..." Jaxon inhaled sharply, staring at his mate who stood before him naked from the waist down. "No panties..." he whispered, his eyes glazing over with an erotic mixture of lust and adoration at the sight of that neatly shaved mound. Mine! The beast in him snarled silently.

"My mate doesn't want me in panties," Kate whispered.

A sound of primal longing tore out of Jaxon's throat at her words. "I want to taste you so bad," he breathed, pulling down his sweats to free his thick, long, and rock hard cock.

"Oh, god..." Kate breathed when her gaze fell on the display of manliness between Jaxon's thighs. Her tongue darted out to flick across her lips at the sight of the pre-cum oozing out, an evidence of his excitement and readiness. "Jax..." Kate was completely obsessed with the masculine perfection of her mate. He is savagely stunning. "I want to ride you," she moaned shakily as she moved to stand before him. "Let me ride you, please," she begged, desperate for him.

"Whatever you want, baby." Jaxon leaned back and watched Kate with a hooded gaze as she moved to straddle his hips, her body arching towards him in a shameless silent plea. "Are you sure this is okay?" he rasped, still wary despite his hunger. Weren't there some dos and don'ts for pregnant women? "I don't want to hurt you."

"I won't break, Jax," Kate groaned. "I'm wet and ready," she said shakily, her eyes turning all soft and dreamy when she felt his touch between her legs. "Ahh..."

"You're soaked," Jaxon rasped, his thumb stroking over her clit. "Let me know immediately if you feel any discomfort." And with that firm instruction, he directed his throbbing cock into her heavenly warmth. "Ahh...fuck!" An animalistic growl left his throat when the thick crest of his cock finally pushed inside her.

"Jax..." an impassioned cry tore out of Kate, her body shocked by a penetration it hadn't experienced in...forever. She moaned as she felt herself stretching around him, flexing gently around him. Her hands shook like a junky's in need of a fix as they lifted to grip his shoulders tightly. "God, I missed you," she whimpered as she took more of him, her eyes growing heavy with obvious pleasure.

"You mean you missed my body," Jaxon rasped, his voice rough with desire.

Kate stared at him, her eyes glassy with lust. "Missing you and missing your cock aren't mutually exclusive, are they?" She leaned in and licked his lips, her teeth catching the full curve along the bottom and biting gently. "I need you to fuck me hard, baby," she breathed.

But no sooner had the words escaped her lips than Jaxon gripped her hips and yanked her down even as he thrust upward, shoving fully into her. Kate gave a stuttering wail as her head fell back, the ecstasy she felt, explosive.

"Fuck!" Jaxon's eyes squeezed shut in pure delirious concentration, his breathing quick and rough. It was heaven on earth. He felt the tremors moving along his spine and knew he was dangerously close to coming. "Shit!" he gasped, willing himself not to move. "So tight and so... warm." His eyes shot open, his expression one of surprise. She had never felt that warm. "Are you okay, Kate?" he breathed, his passion-glazed eyes staring into hers. She could only nod, the look of utter bliss on her face just amazing to see. Fucking gorgeous! Jaxon released his grip on her, giving her the freedom to fuck him the way she needed.

She rode the hell out of him. Kate didn't wait to adjust to his girth as she usually would. Shameless and eager, she slammed her hips into his, pumping her tight channel up and down the rigid length, loving how it rubbed her in exactly the right spot each time it plunged into her body. It felt so good, Kate thought she would go out of her mind from sensations that she hadn't felt in a long while.

"Jesus Christ!" Jaxon gasped when Kate leaned back, gripped his knees, and began to swivel her hips like an exotic belly dancer. The way she caught her lower lip between her teeth with a naughty look was so fucking erotic he couldn't look away. "Dayum!" The look of pure ecstasy on her face as she muttered breathlessly about how heavenly he felt inside her and how much she'd missed him blew Jaxon's mind.

He didn't think he'd seen his mate sexier. He felt every twist, every sinuous turn along the length of his dick. He knew he couldn't hold on for long. His head fell back against the seat, eyes rolling into the back of his head. He could feel himself losing control as his body fought the bombardment of sensations. In a totally involuntary move, he bucked his hips into Kate, drawing a loud gasp from her. She couldn't have stopped the orgasm that blasted through her even if she had tried.

Kate screamed, her entire body shaking as her muscles clenched on Jaxon like a vise. Her rhythm faltered and vision blackened as pure ecstasy assailed her senses. Still in the throes of delirious bliss, she felt her world shifting and couldn't tell what was happening. She was suddenly on her back on the plush rug, with Jaxon looming over her. His arm hooked beneath her left leg to lift it to his shoulder. Then with a primal growl, he thrust deep, drawing a loud moan from Kate.

"Talk to me, baby," he bit out as his hips surged and rolled, stroking that magnificent length deep and tirelessly inside her. "Tell me you're okay." Jaxon gazed down at her with amber eyes glazed with lust, bliss, and tenderness. His wolf was right there on the surface. "I need to know you're okay," he grunted urgently, sweat pouring off his body.

"I'm okay," Kate gasped as the pleasure expanded faster than she could assimilate. She loved the dominance of being serviced. "Don't stop."

Jaxon kept her pinned, opened, and at his mercy, using her as she had used him. His self-restraint was completely shattered by the overwhelming desire for release. He was like an untamed animal. He fucked her like the animal he was, his race to orgasm wildly exciting as was his complete control over her body. It was everything Kate craved and more. He fucked her with such skill and precision that both were powerless against the euphoric sensations that overwhelmed their senses. She climaxed in a helpless rush, screaming his name. Jaxon didn't relent or falter. He kept driving the ecstasy into her, making her take it. The obscene sounds of furious sex filled the quiet house as he pounded into her, leaving her quivering on the verge again and again as one orgasm rolled into another.

"Oh, god!" Kate looked drunk on pleasure. "Ahh... that's it, Jax..." She praised deliriously when she felt that sweet familiar sensation along her spine yet again. Her man definitely knew how to blow her mind. "I love you," she moaned, unable to hold back. "I love you so much."

And that declaration of love was all it took...

Jaxon growled her name, jerked once, tensed all over, and then started coming, his pelvis pressing tightly as he spilled hotly inside her. His entire body shook as pleasure poured over him, the relief dizzying. He let out a loud growl, fangs bared and glistening. Then, with a possessively savage inevitability, Jaxon sank his fangs into the soft flesh of Kate's neck where his mark was, reaffirming their bond in the most natural way.

The feel of him spilling inside her and the feel of those fangs sinking into her, set Kate off again. She came completely undone, writhing against Jaxon in euphoric bliss, her core spasming and clutching at the pulsing cock inside her, milking him of every last drop of essence until he had none to give. By the time Jaxon withdrew his fangs and licked the wound close, Kate's face was drenched with tears, brought on by immense love, joy, and fulfillment.

"It's ridiculous how much I freaking missed you," Jaxon groaned, burying his face in her throat. "I love you, baby." And with those heartfelt words, his mouth found hers, his kiss that perfect blend of love and desire.

"Thank you," Kate breathed when the kiss ended. "I still can't believe I'm here with you." She lifted a hand to tenderly push back his hair.

"Surely, this has to be real, right?" Jaxon murmured, pulling out slightly and then thrusting forward again. "So creamy with my cum."

"Jax..." Kate gasped, tightening up instinctively around the still hard cock.

"Fuck, don't." Jaxon gave a husky chuckle as a delicious shudder wracked his body. "I need to feed you now, so don't distract me."

"Who started it?" she giggled, gazing up at him as she brushed her thumb along his cheekbone. "You look tired," she observed softly. "When was the last time you slept?"

"Now, she notices," he muttered to her amusement. "It sure as fuck didn't stop you from fucking the living daylights out of me." He pressed a kiss against her temple.

"That was a call to duty, Jaxon Spencer," she said with a mock scowl. "God, I've never needed fucked so bad in my life," she chuckled breathlessly.

"Yeah? Let me get some food into your system first," he pressed a kiss to her smiling mouth. "Then we'll see about that duty." He pulled out of her and picked her up bridal style. "What do you want to eat?" he asked as he climbed the stairs.

"Anything," she murmured, resting her head against his chest and listening to the sound of his heart beating strong and sure. She loved the feel of his arms around her. "But I need to take a shower first."

"I'll run you a bath," he said, entering the bedroom.

"Goodness, this room is damn huge," she gasped, her eyes darting around in wonderment. "And it's absolutely breathtaking," she marveled, taking in its beauty with wide-eyed wonder."

"Yeah?" He grinned, laying her on the bed. "Glad you like it. Wait till you see the closet." He carefully stretched out on top of her, careful not to put all his weight on her.

"I can't wait to see the whole house. Paige and Troy couldn't shut up about it. Oh fuck," she suddenly gasped.

"What is it?" he asked, kissing her softly.

"I was so focused on you I didn't even notice the pictures."

Jaxon laughed. "You can take a tour after you eat." Another kiss. "And feel free to change anything you don't like." He pushed up her top to uncover her still-flat stomach, then leaned in to kiss the exposed flesh with reverence.

"From what I've been told, I don't think that will be necessary." She combed her fingers through his hair. "Are we taking that bath together?" she murmured with a seductive look.

"Not on your life, lady," he chuckled. "Ryan said to feed you, and that's exactly what I'm going to do," he murmured. "Hey," Jaxon whispered, then kissed her stomach again. "I can't wait to meet you, angel. Shit, can you hear that heartbeat?" he breathed. "It's so strong."

Kate chuckled. "I guess she's excited to have you around."

"She?" He lifted his head and looked at her, one eyebrow arched questioningly.

"According to Sylver." Kate shrugged. "Oh, and he was the first to notice the baby's presence, by the way."

"What the..." Jaxon shook his head in wonderment. "That kid!" With a final kiss to her stomach, he rolled out of bed and started for the bathroom butt naked, leaving Kate to explore the room."

The centerpiece of the spacious bathroom was an elegant claw-foot bathtub, its gleaming porcelain surface catching the light and exuding an air of timeless sophistication. Jaxon twisted the polished brass faucet, releasing a cascade of water into the tub, the sound a soothing melody that seemed to echo throughout the bathroom. When steam began to rise, enveloping the space in a veil of warmth, he added a few drops of fragrant essential oil, letting them mingle with the water. The delicate aroma of lavender and jasmine filled the room.

Back in the room, Jaxon found Kate in the reading area, paging through a book. "You remembered," she whispered, her voice soft as emotions stole her breath.

"I remember everything you tell me, baby," he chuckled, going to give her a kiss. "Your bath is ready."

Kate put the book back and ran her gaze on the lean yet powerful and gloriously tight body of her mate. "I could use a back scrub..." she murmured seductively, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her head on his chest.

"Nice try." With a laugh, he wriggled free and turned to leave. "I'll grab a quick shower downstairs and then get to work. I'll bring it up here when I'm done, so relax."

"You're a killjoy, you know that?" she groaned, watching him go.

"Just making sure my daughter gets what she needs," he chuckled. "See you in a bit."

Kate's eyes widened when she entered the bathroom, greatly impressed by the sheer elegance of its design. She took off her top and bra, and made her way to the bathtub. The bath was drawn to perfection, the warm, fragrant water, a promise of blissful indulgence and pampering to come. With a contented sigh, she stepped in, loving the tranquil haven where she could unwind, rejuvenate, and luxuriate in the simple pleasure of a bath.

***

The early morning light filtering through the sheer curtains of the spacious kitchen, the air carrying a tantalizing aroma of sizzling bacon and freshly brewed coffee. Dressed in grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt, Jaxon moved with graceful precision as he navigated the kitchen with practiced ease, his demeanor a blend of concentration and contentment.

With deft hands, he sliced ripe tomatoes and vibrant green peppers, arranging them with care on a pristine cutting board. He slid a cast iron skillet onto a burner, the metal singing softly as it welcomed the touch of olive oil. Into the pan, he added the ingredients, each one dancing and sizzling as they met the warmth of the skillet. The symphony of sounds filled the air, accompanied by the occasional rhythmic clink of utensils against porcelain. With a flick of his wrist, he expertly flipped a pancake, its golden surface glistening in the morning light.

Moments later, Jaxon popped the skillet which had in it frittata, one of Kate's favourite things to indulge in, into the oven to finish cooking. Then he stepped back to survey his handiwork, a satisfied smile gracing his lips. On two large trays, he had bacon, pancakes, fried eggs, toast, a pitcher of freshly squeezed orange juice, and a fresh fruit platter comprising an array of Kate's favourites such as strawberries, pineapple, mango, and apple. Satisfied, he started work on an avocado spread for the toast. Just as he was filling a ramekin bowl with the delicious spread, Kate walked in, clad in a white bathrobe.

"I heard you coming down the stairs a while back," Jaxon murmured without turning to look at his mate. "What took you so long to get here?" When he didn't get any response, he turned to look at his mate and gasped. "What's wrong?" Jaxon placed the avocado spread on the tray and went to his teary-eyed mate.

"I was in the hall," Kate whispered. "All those pictures..."

"If you don't like them, just say the word, and they're gone. I've told you, you can change anything you don't like." He frowned when he noticed Kate vigorously shaking her head.

"I love them," she smiled through her tears. "They're very beautiful, especially the ones of us."

"So why the tears?" Jaxon asked, looking genuinely confused.

"Blame your daughter," Kate muttered, shaking her head in amusement. Sometimes Jaxon acted like the rogue that he was... clueless! "Between you and her, you push me to tears with very little effort. I love everything I've seen so far and don't think I'm going to change anything."

"You never know," Jaxon chuckled, enfolding her in a warm embrace. "Am I to expect these tears even when you're happy then?"

"I'm no expert but I'm told my emotions are heightened because of the pregnancy," Kate sighed. "I couldn't locate the room where Ryan left my stuff. This house is huge. Look at this kitchen. It has its own gas fireplace, for fuck's sake."

"You don't like it."

"I love it," she breathed. "You've got impeccable taste. And whoever did this décor has earned my respect."

"My demanding P.A. insisted on nothing but the best from them," Jaxon chuckled, going to the oven.

"Impressive. I should meet this P.A." Kate looked fascinated watching Jaxon move around the kitchen with all that grace and steely confidence. She thought her mate was sexy as fuck.

Jaxon took out the frittata which looked yummy with its firm and golden top. "I'll just slice these and..." he trailed off when he heard Kate's moan.

"This is heavenly." Her eyes were closed in pure pleasure as she munched on some toast and avocado spread. "Oh, my fucking god! You said you couldn't cook." Her accusing tone drew laughter from Jaxon.

"It is breakfast, Kate. Who can't make a simple breakfast?" He couldn't stop his wide grin as he watched her dig into the spread. "Besides, I've lived by myself all this time. I know a thing or two. You have some spread at..." he gestured at his lips. "Never mind." He went to her and lifted her chin. Then he leaned down and licked at the smudge of avocado spread at the corner of her mouth.

Both moaned. Then, of course, he just had to kiss her, a kiss that escalated so quickly Kate's head spun. Neither could tell who undid the belt of the bathrobe. By the time the kiss ended, the robe had parted, revealing the luscious breasts beneath.

"Fuck!" Jaxon stared with a hot, predatory gaze, his massive chest rising and falling with harsh, tightly controlled breaths. "They're even more beautiful than I remember," he breathed, a hand lifting to cup one juicy globe. "And fuller." His thumb and forefinger closed around one deliciously rigid nub which looked so damn tempting... begging to be sucked.

"And itchy as fuck." She arched into his touch.

"Itchy? Why?" He tugged on the nipple.

"Has to do with the baby, I guess." Kate gave a helpless moan, feeling each pull in her very core.

"Let's see about that," Jaxon murmured, lifting Kate and placing her on the kitchen island. He salivated with anticipation as he closed the distance between his mouth and one distended peak. Then with a lust-filled groan deep in his throat, he closed his mouth around the nipple.

"Oh, my god..." Kate moaned breathlessly, her fingers sliding into Jaxon's hair to hold him to that needy nerve-packed flesh even as she felt moisture pooling in her most intimate recesses.

Breakfast was forgotten as Jaxon worked those nipples like his life depended on it. His mouth was scorching hot, his tongue a rough velvet lash against her tender flesh. As his lips worked on one, his fingers worked on the other. He lapped, laved, and sucked until they swelled in his mouth. And when his teeth bit into one, Kate's brain short-circuited, her body jerking as sharp pleasure rocketed through her.

"Jax," she gasped and stiffened, her grip in Jaxon's head so tight it bordered on pain. "Ahh..." she cried out as the sharp crest of orgasm ripped through her like a volcano. "Oh, my god, Jax..." Her moans grew increasingly high pitched and louder as she came, her body writhing in sheer ecstasy. Her surroundings disappeared until all she knew was Jaxon and the sweet pleasure of release so sublime and so perfect.

It was unexpected, ecstatic, and so intense. Definitely one of her sweetest orgasms. Kate opened her eyes to find Jaxon's gaze on her. She felt the blood rush to her cheeks and thanked her stars for her dark complexion. If Jaxon was shocked that she'd actually climaxed just from her nipple getting sucked, he didn't show. But before she could even descend from her high, he was pushing her onto her back and spreading her thighs. Then he leaned in and latched onto that gloriously swollen, sensitive, wet, clit and sucked on her hungrily. Kate thought she would pass out from the rush of pleasure.

Jaxon was wild and ravenous, his passion driven by his need to give his mate pleasure. He ate her hard and fast, his tongue pushing into her and driving her mad with furious thrusts. Kate chanted his name, writhing against him wantonly as her fingers pulled on her hard nipples. Her hips worked without volition, grinding her slick folds against his working mouth. Jaxon fucked her so good with his tongue, driving her insane, before circling back to the throbbing bundle of nerves and drawing on it hard. Kate unraveled with a breathless cry, shuddering violently as the pleasure broke over her in rippling spasms. She lost count of the number of orgasms he forced on her with his skillfully wicked lips.

"Jax, please..." she pleaded, gasping for breath as her core trembled with intense shivers of delight. "Enough..."

Jaxon raised his head and looked up at her. "Your taste drives me insane. I could eat you for hours. Days." In a fluid move, he pulled off his t-shirt and tossed it away. Then, he reached for her hand and pulled her up. "But for now..."

He peeled off her robe and slid his hands under her bare arse to lift her. Then he turned to wedge her body between his and the wall even as he freed his hard cock from the confines of his sweats. She wrapped her legs around his hips and clung to his shoulders, moaning when she felt his warm hard length probing at her entrance. Kate braced herself for a hard thrust but Jaxon surprised her by easing gently into her already sensitive channel. It seemed like forever until he was buried to the hilt. Oh, god!

"You feel so sweet," he breathed huskily, staring into her eyes. "Are you okay?" he ground out, voice strained.

"Yes, baby." She moaned, her eyes glazed over and drunk. "You're so deep I can feel you in the back of my tonsils." Her words drew a breathless chuckle from Jaxon.

He withdrew nearly all the way, then eased back in, even more gently. For him, apart from the fact that his pregnant mate had already taken a hard fuck earlier so needed a break, there was nothing more agonizingly pleasurable than giving deliberately slow strokes. And from the way Kate constricted around him, tighter and tighter, he knew she was loving it.

"I'm going to fucking die if you get any tighter on me, angel," he murmured in her ear as he thrust inside her again, the movement causing her nipples to rub deliciously against his bare chest. "Sweet Lord!"

They were both blissed out, their bodies enveloped in unadulterated sensations. He brushed his mouth back and forth across hers in that devastatingly erotic way unique to just him. Then he was kissing her with a tantalizing tenderness that ignited a fire within her, consuming her senses and pushing her to the brink of euphoria.

When his lips left hers to kiss a hot path to her neck, she tilted her head and gave him access to what she knew he sought...her mark. Jaxon found and sucked languidly on it, drawing ecstatic moans from Kate. He maintained the slow tempo as if there was no urgency at all. It was leisurely and sweet... until Jaxon suddenly adjusted his angle, tightened his hold on her, and began to hit that spot deep inside her quivering core with each penetrating thrust, stoking the fires within into a full roaring inferno.

Kate's head fell back against the wall with a thud, a cry wrenching from her throat as pure ecstasy radiated from that spot throughout her entire body. It felt as though she was stuck in a never-ending pleasure zone. And Jaxon skillfully pushed her higher and higher with every thrust until the sensations within got so overwhelming that she panicked.

"Jax..." Kate gasped shakily as her body shook and her nails dug into his shoulders. She scratched at Jaxon and even tried to squirm away.

"Where you trying to go, huh?" Jaxon rasped, straining towards his own climax. "I've got you," he assured her huskily, his tone gentling. "Come for me, baby."

And her body responded to the softness and heat in his voice. Pleasure, so swift, strong, unlike anything she'd ever experienced, ripped through Kate so hard it was almost painful. With a cry, she dropped her head against Jaxon's neck and sank her fangs deep into him, shocking his senses and pushing him over the edge.

The explosion originated low in his belly, driving pleasure out through his cock and bursting through him like a raging hurricane. He roared as blinding pleasure suffused his entire being, plunging him into a sea of sensations so dizzying and unquestionably, rapturous. For a moment, Jaxon didn't know where he ended and Kate began. They were intimately entwined both in body and soul.

Kate eventually extracted her fangs and went boneless between Jaxon and the wall. Jaxon's eyes fluttered open, his gaze falling upon his mate's radiant and contented expression. He couldn't help the wide possessive grin that spread across his face. She is just perfect and all mine! He wished he could stay deep inside her forever but he knew he had to feed her. With effort, he withdrew from her but didn't set her on her feet. He laid her on the bathrobe which was still on the island, and tore some tissues off the tissue roll on the island. Then he proceeded to thoroughly clean up his mate. When he was satisfied with his work, he went to the bathroom to take care of himself.

Back in the kitchen, Jaxon noticed that Kate hadn't moved from where he'd left her. "Still with me?" he murmured, smoothing the hair back from her forehead. "Are you okay?" he whispered, tenderly stroking her arm.

"I can't say I am," Kate groaned. For one, her body had gone totally limp. Somehow, her bones had been replaced with liquid satisfaction. "That was..." her pleasure-saturated brain couldn't come up with the right words to describe what had just happened between them. "Oh, my god!"

"My sentiments exactly," Jaxon chuckled, pulling her into a sitting position and fixing her bathrobe.

"I want to sleep," she mumbled, leaning forward to rest her head on his chest.

"You will sleep right after you finish eating, baby," Jaxon laughed, combing his fingers through her hair lovingly. "Hey?" He drew her head back and lifted her chin to look at her face. "Open your eyes," he murmured, dropping kisses on her face. She opened sleepy eyes and parted her lips to accept his kiss. "Hmm..." Without breaking the kiss, he scooped Kate off the island and placed her in one of the high stools around the island. At some point, they had to come up for air. "I should stop before we get distracted again. At least you're awake now," he said with a chuckle, taking a step back as he grabbed his t-shirt.

"My middle finger salutes you, Jaxon Spencer," she murmured, reaching for the large pitcher of orange juice beside the tray brimming with food. "Can I get some ice, please?" She poured the bright liquid into a glass, the sound of it filling the room with a quiet, soothing splash.

"Coming right up."

Jaxon fed his mate, pausing between bites to plant tender kisses on her lips. Kate made sure he ate too. But she felt so drained from all the emotions and great sex that before they could even finish their meal, she succumbed to sleep right there in the kitchen. Jaxon gently lifted her off the stool and carried her up to bed for a well-deserved rest.

And for the first time in weeks, both the rogue and his mate had a good sleep.

***

"Creepy," Kate murmured when she opened her eyes to find Jaxon's eyes on her. He perched on a stool that he had pulled up close to her side of the bed, his gaze fixed intently on her. "How long have you been staring?" She stretched and yawned.

Jaxon gave the clock on the nightstand a quick glance. "About twenty minutes. Still trying to get used to seeing you in this bed."

"It's been five days, babe," Kate said with a snort, lifting her hand to display the number five and inadvertently flashing the exquisite engagement ring on her finger.

She had woken up after that breakfast on her first day in the house to the most beautiful engagement ring on her finger. It featured a stunningly large, brilliant-cut diamond at its center. The diamond was set in a luxurious platinum band and was surrounded by delicate pave-set diamonds that added an extra layer of brilliance to the ring's overall appearance. Each aspect of the ring, from the intricate setting to the precision of the cut, exuded elegance, luxury, and a commitment to craftsmanship, making it a truly breathtaking piece. Jaxon had apparently acquired the ring for her just three weeks into his banishment. She loved it!

"I've been alone my whole life, Kate," Jaxon said quietly, staring at her raised hand. "I'm not used to anything like this."

"Aw, baby." Kate kicked the covers off her naked body, got out of bed, and went to sit in Jaxon's lap. Then she hugged him. "You'll never be alone again. I promise."

"Thank you." Jaxon buried his face against her neck and fiercely hugged her back.

"You smell delicious," she murmured when they eventually released each other. "And you look damn good," she said, running appreciative gaze over a fully dressed Jaxon even as she rubbed her nipples which were itchy. "Good enough to eat."

He sported a pristine light blue button-down shirt paired expertly with dark navy chinos. His shirt, meticulously tucked in, showcased a sleek brown leather belt that added a sophisticated flair to his outfit. Complementing his attire, he wore classic brown leather loafers, perfectly balancing style and swag.

"Thank you, madam." He chuckled, pushing her fingers away from the offending nipple to make way for his fingers. "But delicious? Good enough to eat? Someone is hungry," he murmured and then bent his head to draw the hard nipple into his mouth.

"Oh, fuck..." Kate moaned as her head fell back in pleasure, her fingers sliding into Jaxon's head.

'Bob and Harper will be here soon so you have to get dressed,' he said on their mind-link as his mouth was busy.

"Shit!" Kate gasped as her eyes snapped open and immediately darted to the clock. "Oh my god, it's almost two," she groaned, pushing Jaxon's head back and quickly getting off his lap. "Next time, wake me up instead of just watching me sleep, Jax." She admonished as she made a beeline for the bathroom to brush her teeth and get ready. "Is Zoe done?"

"Trust her. Everything is set," Jaxon murmured, his lustful gaze following Kate's sexy arse until it disappeared into the bathroom. "We can always cancel lunch and do more...important stuff," he called out suggestively.

"Don't tempt me," Kate responded, prompting a hearty laugh from Jaxon.

For the first three days after Kate's arrival, all they'd done was fuck, eat, sleep, and fuck some more. It was a fuckathon! They've fucked in every room, on every surface, in every space, and even in the woods. They couldn't get enough of each other. On the fourth day, they'd finally unpacked Kate's stuff and arranged everything in the large closet. That had taken the entire day as they had to take 'fucking breaks'... pun intended.

On that day, which was the fifth, Jaxon had arranged a special lunch to introduce his fiancée to the two most pivotal figures in his professional life: Bob, his attorney and Harper, his personal assistant. He saw this small gathering as a warm-up for a bigger housewarming party, designed to acquaint Kate with his colleagues and a select group of people he believed should meet her. The informal yet significant meeting at his home was an opportunity for Jaxon to blend his personal and professional worlds.

While Harper was excited to meet the stunning model who had captured her boss's attention, Bob was more cautious. He was concerned about potential gold-diggers and was skeptical about Kate, who seemed to have suddenly become an important part of Jaxon's life. When Bob expressed his reservations, Jaxon had dismissed them, confidently asserting that Kate didn't need to steal his wealth when it was hers too. Jaxon's response had only frustrated Bob, making him feel as though Jaxon was under an enchantment of sorts. Laughing off the lawyer's worries, Jaxon had invited him to meet Kate personally, hoping to alleviate his concerns through a face-to-face interaction.

"How do I look?" Kate asked Jaxon, spinning around gracefully at the bottom of the stairs to give him a full view.

She wore a stunning backless, emerald green jumpsuit which had wide legs and a graceful cowl neck that elegantly highlighted her beautiful figure. For footwear, she chose a pair of nude, low-heeled sandals that lent a sophisticated yet comfortable touch to her ensemble. Her accessories included a delicate silver necklace, matching silver hoop earrings, and a sleek wristwatch. Each piece added a refined flair and created a chic, high-fashion look that exuded class and effortless style. Her make-up was flawless.

"You look fantastic." The admiration in Jaxon's eyes when he raised his gaze to Kate was palpable. "That's a killer outfit you've got on," he told her, coming close to where she stood. "I love your hairdo," he murmured, smiling at her classic messy bun, which gave her a sexy and polished look.

She tilted her head back to look up at him, her smile bright. "Tell me, what don't you like about me?"

"Stop fishing." He pressed a kiss on her lips. "You know I love everything about you." Another kiss. "You're perfect."

"Thanks, but nobody's perfect."

"You're mine," he breathed. "And to me, you are. Come on, let's check out what's for lunch before Bob and Harper get here."

"Judging by the delicious aromas wafting from the dining room, Zoe has outdone herself, I'm sure," Kate remarked with a hint of anticipation. But just as they turned to go, both heard the unmistakable sound of a car driving onto the compound.

"They're here. Go ahead. I will go and meet them." Jaxon gave Kate a gentle slap on the bum and turned to go.

"Why do I suddenly feel nervous?" Kate murmured to herself, her footsteps slowing as she approached the dining room. Her mate heard her murmured words and felt her wariness as well.

'Relax,' Jaxon said on their mind-link as he stepped outside. 'They're just work colleagues.'

'They are the closest thing you have to a family, Jax,' she pointed out. 'I wouldn't want them to dislike me.'

'I really don't give a fuck what anyone feels, Kate.' Jaxon folded his arms across his chest as he watched Bob and Harper approach. 'You're the most important person in this world to me. And that trumps everything else.' He grinned when the two got to his side. "How are you two doing?" he asked and then turned to enter the house followed by a grim-looking Bob and a beaming Harper.

"We're good, boss," Harper looked around, clearly looking to see someone. "Where's she?"

"I'm right here, Harper," Kate responded, stepping into the living room with a cocktail in each hand. "It's so nice to finally meet you both," she said, handing each guest a glass with a warm smile.

"Thank you," Harper smiled. "Your pictures don't do you justice."

"Thank you. You're too kind." Then to Jaxon, she asked, "Would you care for a cocktail, baby?"

"No, I'm good, thanks." He then gestured to the guests, inviting them to take a seat just as his phone began to ring. "A moment, guys." He excused himself.

Kate took a seat too and gracefully crossed her legs, her friendly gaze on the guests. "Jaxon has mentioned both of you quite a bit so I'm glad we could finally arrange this."

"Unfortunately, we haven't heard much about you," Bob said, setting his untouched drink down on the coffee table. "I blame Jaxon. I must confess, I was shocked when he dropped the fiancée bomb on me," he said, looking pointedly at her ring.

"I understand." Kate nodded.

"I mean, he leaves for the States to handle something, which according to him is very important, goes MIA... I mean completely off the frigging grid for months. Then returns out of the blue looking very sick, by the way, with news of a fiancée. Doesn't that sound strange to you?" he raised an eyebrow.

"From where I sit, no. But I get why it would seem strange to you." Kate responded.

"Was it love at first sight?" Harper asked, making Kate chuckle.

"It was, Harper. Jax is my soulmate." She shrugged. "I can't live without him. Neither can he."

"Of course he can't live without himself," Bob snorted. "He..."

"You know what she meant, Bob," Harper gave a nervous laugh. "He looked terrible when he got back. Well, we saw him about a week after he got back because he didn't tell anyone he was back. And he looked...sick. What happened?"

"I'm sure that question should be directed at him, Harper."

"But he was in the States with you, so you should know," Bob said tightly.

"I didn't say I don't know what happened to him," Kate responded patiently. "I'm saying it's his story to tell."

"How did you two meet?" Bob asked. "When I asked him, he wasn't very forthcoming with an answer."

"We met in L.A. He was in a bit of a jam. I was there for him." She shrugged, opting for the short version.

"Did you know what he was worth then?" Bob shot back. "Before you decided to be 'there for him'." He gave the words air quotes.

"Bob..." Harper groaned, but Kate only smiled.

"No, Bob." Kate shook her head slowly. "I actually thought he was a... crook when we first met. Didn't stop me from falling for him, though. He did tell me his hobby was flying some time later. But I sure as hell didn't know he owned an airline company. And I still don't know what he's worth."

Bob snorted. "Did you agree to marry him before or after you found out he owns an airline company?" he asked.

"Seriously, Bob, we just got here." Harper looked embarrassed. "This shouldn't be an interrogation. We came to have lunch and acquaint ourselves with Kate." She turned to Kate with an apologetic smile. "Thanks for having us over. It's rare to get a home-cooked meal with our schedules. So I'm glad to be here. And that ring is just beautiful."

"Thank you." Kate smiled. "I love what you did with this place, Harper. The décor is on point."

"I'm so glad you like it. Jaxon gave me permission to let loose, so I did exactly that."

"Care to tell us a little bit about yourself?" Bob asked, drawing a sigh from Harper. He was like a dog with a bone.

"There's not much to tell," Kate said cheerfully. "I've been a model for years. I love my work. I've been based in the States but my firm has a branch here so let's just say I'm here to work."

"You're going to be working with RR Australia." It wasn't a question.

"I see you've done your homework," Kate said, clearly impressed despite herself. "Yes, I will be managing Runway Realm Australia."

"So you just decided to up and move to Australia. Just like that!" He looked like he'd been fed the juiciest bullshit. "Don't you have family? What did they have to say about moving all the way here to marry a... crook?"

Kate chuckled. "I come from a large family, Bob, and they're all quite successful on their own. So no, there's no plan to tap into Jaxon's funds if that's what you're worried about. They fully support my move here for love. In fact, they came over first to make sure I'd be comfortable. And next week, more will show up to see for themselves that I'm okay."

"Wait... the visitors who came from the States the other time... they're your family?" Harper's eyes went wide. She knew about Jaxon's visitors who arrived in their private jet.

"I think that's enough for now," Jaxon said, joining them. "Glad to see everyone's already getting along." He gave Bob a pointed look. "Let's head to the dining room. I hope you're all hungry."

"Starving, actually," Harper said, getting to her feet. "It smells like we're in for a treat. Thank you again, Kate."

"Of course! It's our pleasure." Kate motioned them towards the dining room. "Let's enjoy a good meal and great company," she said as they went. "I'll answer all your remaining questions over lunch, Bob." She threw the lawyer a naughty grin. Somehow, she was happy that he was looking out for Jaxon.

Lunch was a delightful and engaging affair, with Kate playing the perfect hostess. She handled every question Bob posed with tact and intelligence, revealing little. Whenever Jaxon grew agitated by Bob's probing questions, Kate would quickly soothe him through their mind-link and also with subtle glances, reassuring him that she was fine. She would gently remind him that Bob's inquiries stemmed from concern, not malice.

By the time the two left, Bob was eating out of Kate's palm. He insisted she call him directly for any legal matters and extracted a promise to invite him over when her family visited. Everything appeared to have gone very well... at least on the surface.

**

"You've fucked her!" Kate breathed immediately after the door clicked shut behind the departing guests, her piercing glare fixed intently on Jaxon.

For a moment, Kate's accusation hung heavy in the air. The silence stretched for a heartbeat too long. Jaxon's expression morphed from confusion to a flicker of realization as he found his voice.

"What?" he managed, his tone a blend of bewilderment and defense.

"Harper!" Kate growled. "You've fucked her."

"Yes, but that was years ago. How did you even..."

"Call it women's intuition or whatever you like, but I just knew," Kate said tightly as she stormed off towards the dining room. "I want her gone."

"What?" Jaxon followed, his face a picture of incredulity. Clearly, he was struggling to piece together the suddenness of her accusation and the severity of her demand.

"You heard me. I don't want her working as your personal assistant anymore." She began to clear the table.

"Stop doing that." Jaxon told his clearly agitated mate but she ignored him and took the plates to the kitchen. He followed. "Zoe will be coming to take care of that, Kate." The chef had gone out to run a quick errand after setting up lunch. "And are you serious about..." he trailed off, too shocked to complete his thought.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" she threw over her shoulder. "She can't be your P.A."

"So what do you want her to be? My..."

"Nothing. I want her gone from the firm."

"But why? Why do you want her gone when she hasn't wronged anyone and is actually good at what she does?"

Kate rounded on him then. "Do I need another reason besides the fact that y'all have fucked and might fuck again?"

"Do you hear yourself?" Jaxon growled, anger vibrating beneath that calm surface. "Harper isn't going anywhere."

"Remember when you told me I could change anything I don't like?" Kate shouted, planting her hands on her hips in a defiant stance.

"I was referring to things in this house," Jaxon bellowed, his voice booming with frustration. "The décor, the furniture, everything inside this house, Kate. It's your house, so you can throw out anything you don't like. Air JAX isn't in this house. Harper is a human being, not a piece of décor or furniture. Fucking get real." His words were sharp, emphasizing the distinction he felt needed to be made clear.

"You don't see anything wrong with seeing someone you've been intimate with at work every day?" Kate shot back, visibly shaking with anger.

"No, I don't. Just as I never questioned you and Jeremy." He exploded.

"That's different, and you know it," Kate seemed shocked that he would even bring that up.

"Oh, do I? How different is that from this? Oh, you think because he's mated to Ryan..."

"Jeremy's wolf wouldn't allow him to cheat even if he wanted to!" Kate screamed.

"And you think I will cheat?" Jaxon asked, his tone subdued, almost hollow. He looked as if someone had doused him with cold water, his expression a mix of shock and hurt.

"I don't know," she whispered, her eyes welling up. "I'm sorry but... you're a rogue at the end of the day." Kate knew immediately after the words left her lips that it was the wrong thing to say. "And Harper is human. If there are lingering feelings, it can spur her to... She might..."

"She might what?" Jaxon's voice broke, a look of deep hurt crossing his face. "So Jeremy won't cheat, but you think I'd succumb to Harper's advances because... I'm some sort of irrational rogue?" His last words were barely audible, whispered with a mix of disbelief and pain. "You'll never see me as anything more than a wild, uncouth beast, will you?"

Kate felt her heart sink at Jaxon's words. Seeing the pain and anger in his eyes, and knowing she was the cause, tore her apart. It was one thing to have him upset with her, but realizing she had truly hurt him drained all her resolve. She had fucked up and she knew it. The fight left her. Kate knew she had to explain herself, to make things right.

"You know that's not how I see you, Jaxon," she said in a small voice, her tears finally spilling down her cheeks. "It's just that some werewolves cheat, even when they're mated." She wiped at her cheeks furiously, struggling with her words. "It depends on the individual and their wolf. I don't... I don't know if your wolf..." She groaned, the sound filled with anguish. "Maybe your wolf wouldn't mind if you..." Her voice trailed off, unable to complete the thought.

"How about you just trust your man not to hurt you?" he asked quietly. Too quietly. Then, without another word, he walked over to the key case on the mantle and retrieved the key to his Bugatti Chiron Supersport, one of the fastest cars in the world. For him, driving at high speeds was almost as liberating as flying, and right then, he desperately needed that freedom to clear his mind. "I... I have some documents to sign at the office. See you later."

With that, Jaxon turned and quietly exited the house.
