Rogue Cheney x Reader Chapter 6: Dragon Slayers

During the time from the tag battle between Blue Pegasus and Quatro Puppy and Lamia Scale versus Mermaid Heel,you simply stayed with the other Fairy Tail members,but your enthusiasm and energy for the matches were gone.You didn't feel excited at all.

Rogue,however,was anticipating the upcoming battle where he and Sting would be facing Fairy Tail's Natsu Dragneel and Gajeel Redfox.He then wondered who's side you would be on,but then figured that you would for sure support Fairy Tail.

But what exactly happened to you earlier?

Rogue tried to put the issue aside and focus on the upcoming battle at hand.It was his goal to fight against Gajeel after all.That was the exact reason why he came to Crocus.Getting involved with you was not something he had planned.

Did he regret it though?

He didn't know the answer to that.Yet.

Sting and Rogue headed towards the arena,but Rogue stopped in his tracks when he saw that at the other side,you and Happy were talking to Natsu and Gajeel with a smile.The smile had seemed forced,but sincere at the same time.

As Natsu and Gajeel turned to leave for the arena,you felt Rogue's gaze on you despite being far away.You simply closed your eyes and bowed slightly towards him,wishing him good luck as well.Rogue simply nodded slightly in acknowledgement and thanks as he headed out with Sting.

You went back to where the others are,your face devoid of any emotion.However,your eyes were fully focused on the battle.You were conflicted between supporting Fairy Tail and Sabertooth(Rogue in particular).

Before they could so much as move,Natsu and Gajeel rushed at the Twin Dragons,punching them away.You held your breath as you sensed the tremendous power from them.Why isn't Sting or Rogue fighting back?Or is it because they couldn't?

No,no.Focus on supporting Fairy Tail.

After a series of attacks,Sting and Rogue, unable to so much as lay a hand on their opposing Dragon Slayer opponents,activated White Drive and Shadow Drive.They then started attacking seriously,and Natsu and Gajeel seemed to have trouble fighting back.

Just then,you noticed a change in Sting's magic and attacks,and realised that he had put a magic circle on Natsu,restricting the Fire Dragon Slayer's movement.You felt yourself tensing,but soon then relaxed as Natsu burnt off the seal.

The battle seemed to change to Natsu and Gajeel's favour once again.You knew that the three months of training that Natsu and Gajeel had went threw plus the activation of the Second Origin had made them even more powerful than before.

Sting then activated his Dragon Force,promising to fight for Lector's sake.Rogue then activated his Dragon force as well,and you were shocked to see that they can activate it to their own will. Sting then challenged the both of the Fairy Tail members alone,and,as they fought,the whole arena shook at the magnitude of his power.You flinched slightly as you felt the pressure slightly hard for you to bear.

As the debris cleared out,Chapati Lola announced in shock that the floor of the arena has crumbled.You gulped,praying hard that everyone was fine,and that Natsu and Gajeel were still standing.The Lacrima-vision then came on for the audience,just in time to see Natsu managing to get footing on a piece of rubble to perform a Fire Dragon's Sword Horn on Sting,which Gajeel immediately followed up with a close-ranged Iron Dragon's Roar.

However, Sting easily stood back up after the Fairy Tail mages' assault and hit them both with Holy Ray.Natsu stumbled,but got back up in time to block a punch from Sting.As the White Dragon continued his relentless assault on Salamander and Black Steel, the Fairy Tail Mages in the audience begins to feel worry at the one sided fight against their Guild's own Dragon Slayers.

Sting knocked Natsu and Gajeel to the ground,the two not moving to get up.Seeing this, the Twin Dragons of Sabertooth cancelled their Dragon Force whilst Chapati questioned if the battle will end like this.

You heard Romeo shouting out to Natsu,and all from Fairy Tail were obviously devasted by the outcome.You stared at the ground,somehow feeling conflicted that the Twin Dragons seemed to be the last ones standing.

Out of the blue,Natsu suddenly got up,much to everyone's relief,and loud cheers filled the air once again.A wide smile spread across your face,and you joined in the crowd as well in excitement.You decided to put the issue of Rogue aside and just enjoyed the battle going on.

Natsu then revealed that he has noticed a pattern in everything Sting and Rogue do,and as Natsu and Gajeel went over them,they started squabbling.You sweatdropped at their antic,but then laughed in amusement seeing how they still had much energy even to bicker with each other.

While arguing,Natsu suddenly pushed Gajeel on a cart.It started to move,triggering Gajeel's motion sickness.Natsu then challenged Sabertooth alone,feeling the need to have revenge on them for taking Fairy Tail too lightly.Despite not being an official member of Fairy Tail,your heart swelled with pride as Natsu stood up against the Twin Dragons.

Rogue suddenly came to your mind,and you shook your head slightly,trying to wipe him out of your mind.However,Rogue kept returning back to your mind.You suddenly felt like wanting to support Rogue,but you held yourself back.

Rogue..J-Just do your best.

At that same time,Rogue's eyes widened as you suddenly flashed in his mind but he shook the thought off,focusing on the battle at hand.Sting once again fired up his Dragon Force,screaming that nothing is more powerful than it as he once again rushed Natsu.Natsu,though,seemed to block his punch with little effort,contemplating aloud that maybe Sting's powers were half-baked.Rogue then entered Dragon Force as well and attacked.

Natsu pushed Sting back,and managed to rebut Rogue's Shadow Dragon's Roar when it is fired at him from behind.From there,both Sabertooth Mages continued to stand,repetitively attacking Natsu from every direction as the Fire Dragon Slayer continuously blocked their attacks.

Your eyes widened as the Twin Dragons stood,taking on a new stance as their Magic swirled out and builded up behind them.The two not managing to get an edge eventually resorted to a Unison Raid.Sting and Rogue then launched their combined attack,and everyone stood in wonder as Natsu made no apparent move to dodge.

You didn't realise that you were holding in your breath.What had happened to Natsu?You couldn't sense anymore pressure after the hit.Who won?Who's the last one standing?Why is there no presence of magic at all?

Revealing to have casted Crimson Lotus:Exploding Flame Blade to defend himself,Natsu stood tall amidst the debris of the attacks,whilst Sting and Rogue,having been hit full on by the spell,fell.

"R-Rogue..."you let out a small mutter,luckily not loud enough for anyone else to hear.Rogue had lost...Well,that should be expected,right?Giving up was never in Natsu's dictionary,so it is obvious he'll keep fighting for the guild.Still,why did you feel so conflicted?

Having won the battle,Team Fairy Tail was awarded 10 points,something that boosted them to first place in the overall rankings,standing a point above Team Sabertooth.With the fourth day declared to be over,all of the other teams made new goals for the final day,that being to defeat Fairy Tail.

After everything got cleared up,you ran to where you'd usually meet Rogue,but he was not there.You stood on the spot,chuckling to yourself.Of course he wouldn't be there,right?You avoided him after all.It's natural he'd do the same.

You sensed a new presence,and you blinked hopefully."R-Rogue?"

However,you felt something bump on your leg,and you knelt down to pick it up.You carressed it,feeling something soft and from what you felt,it took the shape of something in a frog costume.Is this Frosch,Rogue's partner?

Realising that it actually was Frosh,you let out a small squeal."I-I'm sorry!I was just looking for Rogue."

Frosch didn't seem to mind your company at all.In fact,she looked kind of excited.However,you knew she was saddened by Rogue's lost.You put on a smile,trying to cheer the Exceed up."It's still a battle worth fighting,right?"

"Fro thinks so too!"

You talked to Frosch for a while longer,and both of you started to be friends.After a while,you finally decided to head back,so you set Frosch down,waving to her as she went off to find the Sabertooth mage.

Unknown to you, Rogue had watched the entire scene, and a small smile played across his lips.
