Rogue Cheney x Reader Chapter 5: Memories

The following day, during the Naval Battle

The previous day ended after the battle between Chelia Blendy and Wendy Marvel. It ended with a draw, and you were glad to know that the two of them became friends in the end.You had to return early, so you parted with Rogue right at the arena.

You came early during the fourth day of the Grand Magic Games. You decided to stay with you Fairy Tail friends for a while longer,occasionally glancing at Rogue. He glanced at you occasionally as well, although neither of you noticed that you two were looking at each other while the other was not.

I should be concentrating on the battle, sheesh.

Both of you turned to look at each other again, but this time both of you did at the same time. You knew he was looking at you, and both of you quickly turned away. Your cheeks flushed red as you decided to focus on the battle at hand.

You heard the crowd's cheers as Lucy Hearfilia summoned her Aquarius to go against Juvia Lockster. You corridor. As you heard Gray Fullbuster getting flustered as Juvia used the new spell she had learned after activating her Second Origin,"Wings of Love!" He immediately looked appalled at the stunt Juvia pulled, much to the latter's dismay.

You were excited by the development as the other mages got thrown out of the water,excluding Lucy, Minerva and Juvia herself. However, you sensed a high pressure of magic coming from the female Sabertooth mage. One that is more dangerous that of Sting's or Rogue's.

Everyone was confused and shocked to see that Juvia had suddenly went out of the water circle, hence falling to the ground. The only remaining mages were Lucy and Minerva, and instantly you cheered for Lucy.

However, things took to a wrong turn. With just Minerva and Lucy remaining, the special timer goes into play, and Minerva was quick to attack Lucy through the water, forming multiple circles of heated water that explode and hit her, damaging and burning her.

W-Why isn't Lucy using her-

Then everyone noticed that Minerva had actually taken Lucy's keys away. You couldn't see anything, but you could sense every single slight movement. It was horrible. You were grateful for your lack of sight, or else you wouldn't be able to handle it any longer. Minerva suddenly ceased her attacks when the five minute timer runs out. You took a deep breath, relieved that the match was over. However, things turned for the worse.

Just when you thought things were over, Minerva screamed that Lucy should not look down on Sabertooth, and began to attack her even more ferociously than before. Minerva attacked Lucy both physically and with her Magic,and even when Lucy is about to fall from the arena, Minerva warps her back to the center to continue her brutal treatment.

Everyone watched in horror as the brutal scene unfolded before them. Your eyes widened in horror, your hands slightly trembling in fear. This is just too much for you to take. You stepped back as fragments of your past memories flashes in your mind.

You closed your eyes tight and ran off from the spot,not being able to stay there anymore. You wanted to get as far as you could so you wouldn't be able to sense whatever was going on.However, you knew too well that your senses were too advanced that such a distance still would not be able to prevent you from sensing anything.

That was when you crashed into a certain someone.

Before you fell back, the familiar hand held onto you arm before pulling you close to its owner. You bit your lower lip as you tried to hide your terrified expression.

"[Name]." Rogue's voice sounded so far away.You pushed yourself out of his hold, crumbling down to your knees.You covered your ears as voices echoed in your head. Tears started to stream down your cheeks as you let out soft sobs.

"She did it."

"I'll show you who's stronger."

"You don't deserve to live."

"I'll kill all those close to you."

"I'll get you one day."

Your whole body trembled as the voices kept echoing in your head.The similar thing had happened to you as what had happened to Lucy. Just like how Minerva had been torturing Lucy to the point she was almost getting killed, a similar thing had happened in your past.

Just that you were in Minerva's position back then.

Those voices were of your dark side.You remembered it. Your dark side caused those around you to get killed. Your heart clenched as realisation hit you.

I shouldn't be getting close to Rogue.I don't want to lose him.We shouldn't have gotten close."

"[Name],snap out of it!"

Your eyes widened as you felt Rogue on his knees infront of you,pulling you into a warm embrace. Rogue Cheney isn't one to do hugs,but all that he was thinking of at that moment was to calm you down.

You cried your tears out as Rogue held you. You clutched tightly onto his sleeve, crying into his chest. You needed this. You needed someone to comfort you, someone to make you feel safe. Someone to make you feel belong.

"Have you calmed down?"

You wiped away your tears as you stood up,nodding. Rogue stood up as well,making sure that you were fine. However, you instantly stepped away from him. As much as it had hurt you(and you don't even know why),you had to avoid him. You had decided not to go any further than this.

"[Name]?"

You held your hand close to your chest protectively, as if cowering away from the Sabertooth mage.Your head hung low as you glanced away. "I-I'm sorry, Rogue."

And you simply ran off, leaving the dumbfounded Shadow Dragon Slayer standing alone at the corridor.
