First Concert
It was a month and a half after Robin first rehearsed with Lynn and now it was time for their first official concert at Gotham Stadium. Lynn was backstage with Robin and the rest of her bandmates. Robin was wearing his regular attire while Lynn had black eyeshadow, was wearing a black tank top, a red plaid skirt, fishnet stockings, and black motorcycle boots. "You excited Rob?" Lynn asked the toon. "I sure am," replied Robin, "and maybe a little bit nervous..."
"Don't you go throwin' up on your shirt mister," teased Lynn, "we wouldn't want you havin' vomit on your sweater with Mom's spaghetti." Robin chuckled, "oh don't worry, I'm a professional. Behind the nervousness, there's always the thrill of excitement." Lynn smiled and said, "That's what I want to hear. Let's give them one hell of a show, y'all!" Everyone got their positions on stage as fog started to obscure the room for a dramatic entrance. An announcer said, "Ladies and gentlemen of Gotham City, welcome to the show!!! Live from Gotham Stadium, she's the girl you want but can't have! Give it up for Lynn Black!!!!" The lights went on revealing Lynn, her band, and of course Robin. The audience went nuts, screaming in excitement and clapping. Robin could see Lynn's boyfriend Jason and of course Barbara at the front of the crowd. Babs was wearing purple tank top, blue jeans, and sneakers. Next to Barbara was a blonde woman with bright blue eyes and a young man with light brown hair with dark blue eyes who looked to be around Barbara's age. Lynn took the microphone and said, "are y'all ready to rock?" The audience screamed, "YEAH!!!!" Robin and the band started playing music and Lynn sang,
"I got a lot to say to you
Yeah, I got a lot to say
I noticed your eyes are always glued to me
Keeping them here and it makes no sense at all
They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
Crush, crush, crush
Crush, crush (two, three, four)
Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one, two, I was just counting on
That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than this
If you wanna play it like a game
Well, come on, come on, let's play
'Cause I'd rather waste my life pretending
Than have to forget you for one whole minute
They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
They taped over your mouth
Scribbled out the truth with their lies
Your little spies
Crush, crush, crush
Crush, crush (two, three, four)
Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one, two, I was just counting on
That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than this now
Rock and roll, baby
Don't you know that we're all alone now?
I need something to sing about
Rock and roll, hey
Don't you know, baby, we're all alone now?
I need something to sing about
Rock and roll, hey
Don't you know, baby, we're all alone now?
Give me something to sing about
Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one, two, I was just counting on
That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than, no
Nothing compares to a quiet evening alone
Just the one, two, I was just counting on
That never happens, I guess I'm dreaming again
Let's be more than
More than this
Oh-ho, oh-oh, oh-oh
Ooh, ooh"
Once the song finished, the audience cheered and clapped. Once the cheering ceased, Lynn shouted with the microphone, "how y'all doin' tonight?!?!?!" The audience screamed in excitement. Once the excited screaming ceased, Lynn said, "well it's great to be back, y'all! Let's give a warm welcome to our brand new drummer, Robin Warner!" The audience cheered hello to Robin, the toon tipped his cap to the audience. Jason and Barbara gave encouraging thumbs up. Robin felt overwhelmed with happiness. "Rob here's gonna be a fine addition to our band," said Lynn, "how about we get to my signature hits? Which do y'all want to hear first?" For the next four hours, Lynn and her band proceeded to play some of her most popular hits, many of her fans singing along to her songs. The audience seemed to like Robin's drumming, which he appreciated. Soon enough, the concert eventually ended, and the band was backstage to relax.
"That was so awesome!" Robin said, feeling exhilarated. "It sure was," said Lynn, "this is what a typical concert for us is like." Suddenly, Earl said outside, "Miss Black, your boyfriend Jason and your friends are here to see you." Lynn replied, "let 'em on in!" Earl opened the door, and Jason, Barbara, and her two mutual friends came inside. "Babe, you sounded amazing," said Jason as Lynn passionately kissed him on the lips. "And you were also just as good Robin," commended Barbara, "all that practicing certainly paid off." Robin smiled and blushed and said, "well thank you for coming, Barbara. I'm glad that you came." Babs smiled and said, "how about I introduce you to our friends. This is my best friend Kara Danvers, and this is her boyfriend Kevin Wayne, who I used to go to school with." Kara brightened up and said, "hi! You are so amazing on the drums! And you were so awesome, Lynn!"
"Thanks Kara," said Lynn, "I'm really happy to know that you and Kevin came to our concert." Kevin smiled and said, "of course, after all, we're family practically." Robin looked up at Kevin and said, "oh that's right, you're Bruce Wayne's son! You certainly got his good looks. It's nice to meet a friend of Barbara's." Robin shook Kevin's hand and Kevin replied, "well it's nice to meet you too, Robin. And thank you for the compliment. Like Barbara said, you are very talented with the drums." Robin smiled and said, "well I appreciate that. I hope we can hang out sometime."
"Drop by anytime," encouraged Kevin. Less than an hour later, Barbara and Robin were back at her apartment, sitting on the couch. Barbara took off her sneakers, revealing her striped socks and she said, "ugh, fun as that concert was, my feet hurt from standing up for four hours straight." Robin blushed and shyly said, "if you want, I could give you a nice massage to help get rid of any aching pains..." Barbara gave a teasing smile and asked playfully, "why Robin Warner are you offering me a foot massage? Because I'm not going to say no to the free offer." She put her feet on Robin's lap, and Robin started to rub Barbara's feet, causing the redhead to relax a bit more. "How's that feel?" Robin asked. "Feels good," admitted Barbara. "Would it feel better if your feet were... Bare?" Robin shyly asked in reply. "I'd like that a lot actually," said Babs, "go ahead..." Robin then slid Barbara's socks off and massaged her bare feet. Barbara smiled and blushed, enjoying the foot rub.
"You want to hear my idea for the whodunit murder mystery?" Robin asked while massaging. "Oh sure," said Barbara, "does your murder mystery have a detective for a main character?" Robin nodded and said, "naturally. His name is Pete Kincaid, he's a hardened private eye detective who's recovering from a smoking addiction." Barbara looked at Robin with interest and said, "sounds like an interesting character. So what happens in your story?" Robin looked at Babs and explained, "think of it like Murder On The Orient Express. It's been a slow few months for Kincaid, and he decides to take a day off. So he goes to a diner to get some grub. Everything seems normal at the diner, but then one of the waitresses stumbles across a murder! The diner's male manager is crammed into a refrigerator! Now Kincaid has to find out who the killer is in this diner! What do you think?" Barbara leaned her hand on her chin in a pondering manner and said, "well it sounds like an original idea, and it's a good twist on Orient Express... How about in the morning, we could develop our suspects together?" Robin looked into Barbara's sky blue eyes with affection and said, "that sounds excellent."
