A Phone Call From Gotham City

At Acme Acres, a male toon made it to his house. He was a 3'3 black and white Ink-Blot toon with dog like features and a red bulbous nose, he wore a white and orange cap with blue letters that spelled Acme in all caps, a striped red and green t-shirt, white gloves, bright blue jeans, and bright red strap-on shoes. One would think he looked like a teenager from the '90s. This was Robin Warner, teenage cousin of the Warner Brothers Yakko and Wakko and their Warner sister Dot. Robin had finished doing some second unit directing for a TV show, and now he was ready to get something to eat. "I wonder if I got something to make a pasta?" Robin asked himself aloud.

Suddenly, Robin's thoughts were interrupted by the ringtone version of the Looney Tunes theme song on his cell phone. Robin picked up the phone and casually said, "yello, Robin Warner speaking." A rough voice that sounded like a man from the Italian side of The Bronx said on the phone, "hello Mr Warner, nice to know ya answered my call. My name's Zane Bannerman, I'm the personal manager of Lynn Black." Robin casually leaned on his personal arm chair while standing up and replied, "nice to meet you Mr Bannerman, I'm actually quite familiar with your client. My friend Lola Bunny is a big fan of Lynn. What can I do you for?" Zane asked on the phone, "is it true that you're a freelance drummer, Mr. Warner?"

"That's correct Mr Bannerman," confirmed Robin, "I've been a freelance drummer since around 2003. I've done a lot of tours and done drumming for Reba McEntire, Weird Al Yankovic, Robbie Hart, Josh Groban, that one popstar Cassidy, Lin Manuel Miranda, I've done drumming for high school dances, weddings, and the occasional bar mitzvahs for Spielberg's family. Not to toot my horn, but I can also play the saxophone and the accordion too." Zane replied on the phone, "well that's great to know Mr. Warner. Here's why I'm callin' ya, and I'll explain to Lynn about what happened as soon as I'm finished with this phone conversation. Her regular drummer Nimrod admitted himself into the hospital a few hours ago and he's going to be out of commission for a while. And Lynn's tour is going to start in about 2 months. You think you can head over to Gotham City and be Lynn's drummer for her tour? I'll make sure you're paid handsomely and that it's all worth your while." Robin's eyes widened, he was at a loss for words. He was now being given an opportunity to do another tour as a drummer for a popular singer.

"I've gotta say Mr. Bannerman, I'm quite flattered that you would reach out to me about this," said Robin, "I would be happy to come over to Gotham and tour with Lynn as her drummer. I'll book a flight to Gotham City to meet with you and Lynn as soon as possible." Robin started going to his room to look for his traveling bag and his drum set. "Thank you for accepting my offer Mr Warner," said Zane, "I'll make sure you don't regret it. See you very soon." And then he hung up. Robin then contacted his cousin Yakko Warner. Yakko picked up and said, "Robin! What do I owe the pleasure of hearing the voice of my favorite cousin?" Robin put his clothes in a traveling bag and said, "hey Yakko! So I've been asked to replace a drummer for a tour in Gotham City..."

"Gotham City eh?" Yakko teased, "aren't there a bunch of psychotic supervillains with silly gimmicks that could easily kill you and make zany toons like me and the sibs look like saints?" Once Robin saw that he had enough clothes to last him a while, he replied, "well yeah... But that's beside the point. I've been asked to replace a drummer for popular singer, Lynn Black. I don't know how long I'm going to be gone from my house. Can you stay in my house and keep an eye on it?" Robin then looked for his drum set. "Why sure cuz! I'd be happy to keep an eye on your house," replied Yakko. Robin smiled and said, "thanks Yakko. You still got the spare house key?"

"I still do," confirmed Yakko. "You promise to not throw any wild parties and keep my house in one piece by the time I get back?" Robin asked. Yakko laughed on the phone, "oh Robin, I'm not that reckless! What do you think I am, Bluto from Animal House? Don't you worry, I'll make sure the house isn't a mess and is still in one piece by the time you get back. Besides, I'd be more worried about my siblings in the Water Tower. Who knows what they'll do to the tower while I'm gone?" Robin and Yakko shared a laugh. "I guess you got me there," chuckled Robin, "thanks Yakko. I'm glad I can count on you. There's plenty of food in the pantry, I'll let you know when Lynn's tour has ended." Yakko replied on the phone, "have a fun time, cuz. Don't do anything I wouldn't do, or would do!" Robin chuckled and then hung up on the phone because by then, he had found his drum set. Robin then put the entire drum set into his Acme cap, given how roomy the cap is on the inside. Robin then grabbed his travel suitcase and then got out of his house, locking the door because he knew his cousin had the spare house key. Robin took one last look at his house and said, "alright Gotham. Wait'll you get a load of me." Robin then left his house and found the next flight to Gotham City. Given that Acme Acres was right by Los Angeles, California, it would take 6 hours and 4 minutes to get to Gotham City. It was a flight close to midnight, and as Robin got on the plane to Gotham, he was ready to start a new adventure.
