Rain Must Fall|B.M.

You sat in a chair, sitting across from your friend, stirring your once hot, now cold tea sadly, utterly upset at your situation.

"(Y/N), are you not going to drink that?" She asked, setting her cup of coffee down on the table after taking a sip.

You sighed, shaking your head. "No, I'm not. It's cold now."

Your friend, Julie, sighed and tapped her fingernails on her ceramic mug, making a clinking sound. "(Y/N), what's wrong? You've been stirring that cup of tea since you ordered it, which was what? About fifteen minutes ago?"

You and your friend were out, sitting in a cafe. She invited you out since she's noticed you've been cooped up in your apartment for the past few days, and she wanted you to have some sunshine, even though you sat in a cafe in London, and it wasn't even sunny outside

You sighed, placing your spoon down on a napkin, fiddling with a bracelet that you wore, not wanting to meet her gaze. "Brian broke up with me."

You slowly looked up to see her expression, and her jaw dropped. "What?! Why?!" She hissed, looking infuriated.

You shrugged, not really knowing the reason. Well, you did, but you just didn't want to be reminded of what he said.

"(Y/N). You do know why. Tell me, so I can whip this mother fucker's ass," she grumbled, crossing her arms after taking another sip of her coffee. "Also, why didn't you tell me before?" She inquired.

You shrugged again. "Sorry, I didn't mean to not tell you. I guess it just didn't cross my mind." Yes, it did.

"Okay... So... I guess I'm not that important, then?" She sassed, then chuckled, trying to not sound completely rude.

You rolled your eyes, chuckling too, trying to lighten yourself up. "No, you are. I was just... Sulking, and so I didn't want to talk to anyone until you called today."

She nodded, offering you a reassuring smile. "Hey. You can tell me. We've been best friends since middle school."

You nodded, sitting up in your chair, your body becoming tenser as that horrible memory came back to you. "I uh... We were... We were sitting across each other at the table like we are now, " you gestured to the both of you, then continued, "And he looked really nervous. He was tapping his fingers on the table, biting his lip and what-not. I asked him if everything was alright, and he said no. So then I was like, well, okay, what's wrong? Then he blatantly told me, 'everything. I can't do this anymore (Y/N), '" you could feel tears starting to cross your waterline. "And then... He left."

That was it. It was very unlike Brian, to do that. You knew something else was going on in his life, but you couldn't get over the fact that maybe the reason he broke up with you, was actually you.

Julie gasped and reached over to you, grabbing your hand to comfort you, while you started to cry, wet, salty tears began to stream down your face. "I'm so sorry (Y/N). That sounds awful. I know you really liked him."

You dried up your tears just enough to talk. "Julie, I loved him. He would always tell me how beautiful I am, grab my hand and kiss it while looking at me with those beautiful eyes of his, and he would always come home and wrap his arms around me telling me how much he loved me. I don't know why he broke up with me, I really don't."

She offered me a warm, sympathetic smile. "I know what you mean darling. Come on, let me take you home. I think I know just the remedy for this heartbreak."

---
3 months later

You were at work, re-stocking some jeans in the men's aisle, humming your favorite song, until someone cleared their throat, tapping you on the shoulder.

You gasped, being frightened, spinning around to face the intruder to your thoughts.

It was him.

Brian.

For three long months, you had sought out help from friends to get over him, play break up songs in your car, and destroy everything of his that you owned.

And he just happened to show up at the place you worked at. After those few months, you had finally gotten over him, and he just now decides to show up out of nowhere.

"Excuse me miss, " he looked at you like he had never seen your face before. "Do you know where I can try these on?"

You blinked, still trying to comprehend that Brian was standing in front of you, and still not showing any recognition. "Um, yeah, in the dressing rooms, down to your left," you said in a very quiet voice, muttering almost every word.

Somehow he was still able to hear it, and nodded to you, thanking you before he left.

As Brian walked away, you admired his features, wanting him now more than ever. When you don't have something, that's when you want it most, you thought, remembering your mother's words when you went to her for advice about Brian. She was always good about giving you relationship advice. You pursed your lip as you wished you could run your fingers through those soft curls again, feel his strong arms wrapped around you, admire his beautiful long legs freely.

He wore a casual black jacket with a Beatles shirt, dark denim jeans, and a pair of Adidas sneakers. Even in his most casual wear, he was stunning.

"Hey, isn't that Brian May from Queen?"

You snapped out of your gaze, turning to your co-worker, David.

"Uh, yeah I think so," you replied, returning your attention back to putting up clothes.

He chuckled. "That's cool. I always thought he would shop at more extravagant places or something."

You shrugged, not really paying attention to what he was saying. All you could think about now is, Brian May. Brian May. Brian May. Brian May.

It was driving you insane. You wanted to run out of the store and dash into the pouring rain outside and just sulk. You wanted to do nothing else but cry at the moment, especially since he looked at you like he didn't even recognize you.

Why couldn't he just fall back into your arms as he used to when he got home from the studio? Why couldn't he just become your boyfriend again? You would give anything to have that happen again.

"(Y/N)? Are you alright?" David asks, furrowing his brows, quite concerned.

You felt your throat tighten up, that familiar lump re-appearing, after trying so hard to push it away after all these months, it decided to come back. You felt like you were on the verge of tears. "No," you choked out, quickly finishing your task, before hustling your way to the backroom.

You felt those hot tears rush down your face, so you kept your head low, avoiding eye contact from other people. You made your way to your manager's office, swinging open the door.

"Mia?" You coughed, which made her look up from her desk.

She gasped as she saw you in tears and ran over to hug you. You and Mia had always been close. She was your best friend before you met Julie, and before she got promoted, but you still supported her nonetheless.

"Oh my god, what's wrong?" She asked sincerely, pulling away from the hug.

"I... I need to clock out early. I'm not feeling too good. I just have this huge headache that's taking a toll on me..." You muttered, which was, and wasn't true. The crying was making your head hurt, but the real pain wasn't in your head.

She nodded, rubbing your shoulder to comfort you. "Okay, you can do that. I hope you feel better."

You nodded, thanking her before putting up your work apron and signing out. You grabbed your purse and your jacket, slipping them on, and exit the backroom.

You quickly make your way out of the store, your head still down as silent tears still ran down your face. You sniffed, walking outside to face the pouring rain. The cold, yet satisfying droplets hit your face, feeling like heaven to you.

"(Y/N)!" You hear your name being called out, and you turn around to face that familiar voice.

Brian.

"What?" You hiss, not expecting that attitude coming from yourself, but you keep your ground anyway. You wanted him to know that you were mad. Heartbroken.

As the rain continued to fall, you could feel yourself get damper, the rain pitter-pattering against your jacket.

"I... I'm sorry, for everything, really," he apologized, sounding out of breath.

"Oh bullshit. I'm going home Brian," you tell him, turning around to pace back to your car.

No matter how fast you could've walked, Brian still caught up to you, grabbing hold of your shoulder to spin you back around to face him. "No, you're not going home until I give you a proper apology. I don't care if I die of pneumonia right on the spot, I'm telling you how I feel, " he rambles, his beautiful curls now a wet mess.

You purse your lips together, part of wanting to give him another chance while the other part of you wanted to go home stomping or kick him in the shin. "Go on then, I don't want to die of pneumonia."

He sighs, crossing his arms. "I'm awfully sorry of how I've treated you. I dump you horribly, and then I don't even call or tell you what or why it happened over the past few months, and I know--a douche move."

You nod your head quickly in agreement.

"I broke up with you because there was another girl I had my eyes on at the time... I thought she would be better for me, but she wasn't... At all."

You huff, crossing your arms. "So what then?! Am I some kind of rebound?! Am I a joke to you, Brian May?! You think, just because you broke up with someone, that you can come crawling back?!" You were practically fuming, getting up in his face, practically inches away from him.

He groaned, running his fingers through his hair. "(Y/N)! She cheated on me! I broke up with her because of that!"

At that instant, you felt a pang in your heart, regretting what you had said. "I-I'm sorry."

He nodded, sighing, rubbing the bridge of his nose in frustration. "It's alright, you didn't know, " he paused, looking down at you, his eyes glinted with a hint of sadness and loneliness. "I just wish we could be back together again like we used to. You in my arms, holding each other, telling stupid jokes, calling each other for hours while I'm on tour..." He mumbles, bringing a hand up to your cheek, caressing it gently. You lean into his touch, missing it greatly.

"I miss you, Brian," you mutter, resisting every urge you had in your body to not kiss him.

"Really?" He almost gasped, pulling his hand away, now resting on your hips. You shivered, not just from the cold rain, but from his hands once again on your body. "Then is it alright if I do this?" He asked, smiling from ear to ear.

You chuckled, nodding, knowing exactly what was going on. He leaned in and closed the space between the both of you, pressing his soft lips on to yours, letting it mesh together like the last piece of a puzzle being slipped into its correct slot.

You smiled into the kiss, wanting to hold on to him for just a bit longer, to keep him to yourself and to keep him with you, but he pulled away, a smile on his lips, while rain ran down his face, making his eyes seem to sparkle more than they already did.

"Hey, " he muttered, grabbing your hands. "Let's get out of the rain. I think we'll get sick if we stay out here any longer."

You nodded, chuckling. "I agree."
