Good Company|B.M.

You stood in front of the counter, stirring your hot tea to cool it down. You tapped the spoon on the ceramic mug, hearing a clink before setting it down on the counter. You took a long, very well needed sip before facing reality again. This whole week had been aggravating for you, especially at work, so you decided to take some time off of work and drop by your best friend's studio with his bandmates to check up on him. Little did you know, that they were annoying as well.

You turned away from the kitchen and made your way to the recording room, voices continued to get louder as you near it. Currently, they were all in a heated argument and you had stepped away to get out of their way, which you had done by getting tea, but you were hoping that when you returned they would be finished, but unfortunately they were not.

You went inside the room, slipping past the four arguing men and went inside the sound booth. You thought this would be relaxing, chilling in a sound booth while listening to the sound of Brian's glorious guitar, Freddie's amazing vocals, Roger's drumming, and John's beautiful bass, but no, you sat there listening to them argue half the time. It was awfully irritating. You didn't understand how they got along so well outside of recording.

"Okay! How about this?" You heard one of them say, turning to you. "(Y/N)!"

It was Brian.

You sighed, not really wanting to be dragged into their heated argument.

"Oh come on Brian, don't bring your girlfriend into it!" Roger complained, crossing his arms.

"Brian I think it's best if we don't bring (Y/N) into it..." Said John, nervously scratching the back of his ear.

You blushed at what Roger had said. You weren't dating Brian at the moment, in fact, you were just really good friends. Although you had to admit, you did like Brian a lot. You wanted to go out with him and you used to drop hints like a mad woman, but he never picked them up so you stopped. You were stuck in the friend-zone.

Brian seemed to ignore John and Roger as he continued talking to you. "(Y/N)! Tell us what sounds better!"

Oh no, you thought. You didn't want to pick sides! You knew something horrible would be the outcome if you had to choose, especially if you didn't choose Brian's side.

"Really Brian? You want an outsider's opinion?" Grumbled Roger, making his way over to his drum set. He didn't look very impressed with Brian or you. You could tell he just wanted to go home.

"Oh hush Roger! I think this might be good for us," replied Freddie in a kind mannered tone, nodding his head towards you, while flashing a reassuring smile.

Freddie was the level-headed one in the group, along with John, but sometimes he stayed too quiet to have an opinion, which left Freddie to all of the decisions. Thank God for Freddie.

They all made their way to their instruments. Freddie sat down at his piano, John made his way to his bass, Brian picked up his guitar and Roger sat down in front of his drums.

"Take two of In The Lap of the Gods," Freddie said into his mic hanging over the piano.

"Alright, we'll play something for you, and then we'll play something else, tell us which version you like better, alright?" Brian told you, looking at you through the glass of the sound booth.

You nodded at him, giving him a thumbs up while sipping on your tea.

You watched him, your eyes specifically on him, while he waited for somebody to start.

Suddenly out of nowhere, you hear a beautiful but shrill voice come from the drummer, with Freddie and Brian joining in with their harmonies, and Freddie joined in on the piano.

You almost dropped your tea at how purely awesome it sounded. Not all that later John and Brian joined in with their guitars.

Why can't they just do this instead of arguing twenty-four-seven?! You thought to yourself, your mouth agape. You were in awe. Sure, you've heard them before at live shows (which were amazing) but something about them being in the mode of making something extraordinary made you marvel at them.

You didn't even know Roger had that in him. When it came to all of them harmonizing in that epic acapella moment, you were awe-struck. It was as if they were gods.

Unfortunately, your eargasm had to wait as they suddenly stopped. You sighed  "Alright, that was good guys!" John exclaimed excitedly.

Brian nodded in agreement. "I agree, but let's do the other version to compare, alright?"

You sat back in the chair again, waiting to be amazed. What in the world could they change in the song that could make it better? It sounded perfect already.

But that's when you heard it. Instead of having a steady volume, they decrescendoed in the song, getting really softer then loud again, then they stopped.

You practically flew up from your seat in applause, setting your tea down on the booth. "That was wonderful! I liked the second version better, " you told them, coming out of the sound booth.

Brian smiled from ear to ear. "See! I told you it was better that way."

Roger huffed, rolling his eyes. "Yeah yeah, whatever. I guess it does sound fine."

Freddie gasped, clasping his hands together in excitement. "Wonderful! I think we should celebrate with some tea!" Announced Freddie, taking his headphones off.

"Oh I'll go make it, you guys just hang tight alright?" You said, flashing them a small smile back.

"Okay, thanks (Y/N)," Brian called out to you, as you left.

Brian's POV

I turned around taking off my headphones to place them on an amp near me, along with carefully taking off my guitar and placing it in its stand.

I must say, we did sound great. If it wasn't for (Y/N) being here, I don't think we would've gotten anywhere today. I think Roger would've kept on arguing, and Freddie would've never been able to comprehend everyone's opinions. It's kind of nice to have an outside opinion.

I sat down on a stool next to me, waiting for (Y/N) to return, but when I looked up, I saw all of my bandmates starting back at me with smug looks on their faces.

"What?" I chuckled nervously, feeling a bit crowded, especially with all of them staring at me.

Roger smirked, nodding his head towards the door. "(Y/N)."

I rose an eyebrow, clearing my throat. "What about her?"

Freddie groaned, slapping me on the shoulder. "Come on Brian! We all know you like her. It's quite obvious."

I stood up off of my stool so I could be eye level with them. "I don't like her. She's just a great friend. She's good company."

John chuckled. "Well you wouldn't be staring at a friend, now would you?"

My eyebrows rose. Was I really being that obvious? Sure, I liked (Y/N). I mean we hang out all the time, she's a great person to be around. She's very pretty, and trustworthy. I guess I haven't really given it much thought since I thought she liked me, which was a long time ago.

I huffed, sitting back down on my stool and picked up my guitar, starting to tune it, even though it was already in tune. It was something that I did to keep my mind off stuff, especially in awkward situations, like now for instance. "I don't know guys... I used to like her... A lot. But now..."

Roger scoffed, taking off his sunglasses. "Well, what happened?! Did you guys get into some heated argument or something?" Roger stopped, then suddenly he said in a very hushed tone, "Is she a lesbian?"

My eyes widened. Oh my God, what if she is?

Freddie snickered, slapping Roger in the back of his head, which made Roger wince and earned a chuckle from John. "No Rog, she's not. But she could be bisexual, or else she wouldn't be staring at Brian like she was in the sound booth earlier. "

"I think they stare at each other too much to realize how much they wanna go out," John remarked, laughing.

I rolled my eyes. Yeah, the guys were right. I did like (Y/N) and still do. I guess when she stopped giving me hints, is when I stopped thinking about it. Maybe she was waiting for me?

"Do you really think I should ask her out? I mean.. We're really close friends, but what if she says no? Do you think that would put us in an awkward position as friends?" I asked, really unsure about it. I would hate it if she said no, and then our friendship would never be the same.

"Brian love, you're putting too much thought into this. Just... Ask her out, and if she says no, then... I guess we'll cross that bridge when it gets here, alright?" Freddie reassured me, giving me a soft rub on my shoulder, which seemed to relax me.

I sighed. "Oh alright... But if she says no, one of you bastards owe me a drink, alright?" I looked at all of them, making sure they heard me. They all nodded and gave me a thumbs up, scattering away as soon as she walked right into the room with four cups of tea.

"Alright, here you go," she smiled, giving my tea to me first. I smiled back, thanking her. As she turned away to give the other members their cups of tea, I looked at her longingly. Her smile made me melt. And I knew that. I've just been denying myself these last few years because I thought she didn't like me, but apparently, she did. I'm just awful at taking hints and doing something about it.

As (Y/N) walked around handing everyone's tea to them, I looked at Roger to what I should do. While (Y/N) wasn't looking, Roger pointed to her and gave me a very sexual gesture. I coughed at it, almost choking on my tea.

(Y/N) turned to me, a very concerned look in her eyes. "Brian, are you alright?"

I nodded, giving her a thumbs up while glancing back at Roger. He facepalmed, shaking his head.

Alright, that's enough, I thought, finally deciding to grow some balls. I turned around on my stool to face the sound booth, where she was walking to. "Hey (Y/N)?"

I glanced around to look at my bandmates, all of their faces showed entertainment, and John gave me a big thumbs up.

She turned around to look back at me. "Yes, Brian?"

I wanted to back out, pretend I wasn't going to say anything, but I knew if I did, I would never get the chance to do it again. "Hey um... W-would you like to... Um... Go out with me tomorrow? Like on a date?"

God Bri, you really messed it up this time. She's not going to say yes after that, I thought, pursing my lips together, getting ready for the ultimate smackdown.

She smiled brightly, nodding. "Yes of course! I'd love that."

I sighed, relaxing. Thank God. "Really? Okay, well, I'll pick you up at five then?" I beamed. I could practically be a light show at the moment.

She nodded. "Sounds good."

Suddenly I hear clapping and hollering from my bandmates, along with Roger beating on his drums. I laughed at them, shaking my head while returning my attention to my guitar. I couldn't help but blush.

I turned to look at (Y/N) in the sound booth, and I saw her trying to cover up her face, as I saw her blushing too. She was adorable.
