Gimme the Prize|B.M.

"Thanks for doing this (Y/N), I really appreciate it."

You nod your head, twirling the cord attached to the telephone. "Yeah, of course, Brian. You know I'll always be your wing woman," you joke, which earned a chuckle from him. You smiled at his laugh and looked down, still a little hurt about what he was asking you to do.

You and Brian had been best friends for years. Since high-school. Ever since then, you'd always wanted a little something more, but every time you tried to take your shot at something with him, he always would end up telling how 'in love' he is with a girl and ask her out instead, so from then on out, you had been his wing woman, and his friend.

"Alright, so I'll pick you up at eight? Make sure to wear something to go clubbing in, 'cause that's where we're going to be headed tonight."

You nodded, even though he couldn't see you. "Right. Got it. See you then." You took the phone and placed it down in the receiver and sighed.

You looked around your room, wondering what in the world you could wear that would make another girl jealous. You went to your closet and opened it up, examining your outfit choices. You took off a few dresses, showing them in front of the mirror doing it over and over again until you decided on a slim black dress.

"Can't believe I'm doing this," you mumbled. Yet, you did believe you were. You knew you were doing this for the good of his relationship, but why? You didn't have to. You could've told Brian to go ask her out himself, but no, why were you helping him? To continue having his trust? To do what?

You shrugged and slipped on your black dress, then went to the bathroom to do your hair and put on some makeup. You grabbed your purse and stuffed your wallet and a pair of black flats into it for changing into later, car keys, and lipstick. You were ready to go.

Ding dong.

You sighed, putting on a smile and grabbed your purse to walk to the door. At the door, you slipped on your heels and swung the door open, revealing Brian looking down at his shoes before he looked up at you.

He wore one of his signature looks which you always thought looked rather dashing on him: A black blazer with an open white collared shirt, a few gold necklaces, a nice watch, nice black bell-bottomed pants, and of course, a pair of white clogs.

Brian's eyes widened as he saw you standing in the door frame, all in awe. You chuckled at him and playfully punched him. "Well don't stand there gawking, let's go get that girl of your dreams."

He cleared his throat and chuckled back, but you could tell it was only to hide his awkwardness. You were good at detecting those kinds of things about him. "Uh, yeah. Right. Hey, maybe you'll find the man of your dreams."

You stepped down to stand next to him, shutting the door behind you and locked it. You smiled, playing it off, but you knew you already found him. He just didn't know it yet, even though you've been playing at it for years. "Yeah, maybe."

---

You arrived at the club, linking arms with Brian.

"Alright, she said she should be at the bar-Oh yeah, that's her!" Brian said, looking at the bar, and nodded his head to her.

You followed his gaze and landed on the most perfect girl you've ever come across. She sat there, almost an innocent look upon her. She was gorgeous. She had long brown hair, long legs; a perfect smile. She was perfect for Brian. There was no way you could compete. You looked back at Brian to see what his face looked like, and he looked like he was in love.

At that second, you just wanted to pull away from everyone and be sucked into the blinding lights and the loud blaring music of the club, and into the sweaty pit of people. You wanted to push all of your troubles away, mainly the heartache.

Interrupting your thoughts, Brian tugged you along to where she sat and sat beside her, and you followed. You tried putting on a nice smile, but you couldn't.

"Connie, this is (Y/N), and (Y/N), this is Connie," he introduces.

You put on a half smile, reaching over Brian to shake her hand.

"Nice to meet you," you say, shaking her hand, and kind of giving her a half smile. Afterward, you take your advantage and start to rub Brian's back to make her jealous, just like Brian wanted.

"So... Are you two dating or something? Why did you bring her here Brian?" She asked, her face looking like she was already angry.

Brian shrugged. "Nah, I don't want to put a label on it or anything, y'know?" He chuckles. "No, I'm here for you, Connie. Don't worry."

Connie smiles, but not too confidently. "Okay. Whatever you say."

---

After helping Brian move along with Connie, you sat at the bar, tapping on your empty glass that once held a cosmopolitan. You wanted to smash it on top of your head so you could just get out of your misery already.

I'm doing this for Brian, you thought, trying to stay positive. But did you ever do anything for yourself?

That's when you had it. You asked the bartender for two shots of tequila which he quickly delivered to you. You quickly downed (with a little pain), and marched right into the mosh pit of sweaty and horny guys.

Even though the music was trash, you started dancing to the beat, running your hands through your hair, all the while making sure Brian could see you, and he could. Eventually, a few men started dancing with you, get behind you as you blindly danced on them.

Brian's POV

I huffed, being rather angry right now. Even though I was having a blast with Connie tonight, all thanks to (Y/N), I couldn't help but let my eyes and mind wander to (Y/N).

Her invigorating dancing seemed to get the best of me, and I just couldn't help but not look at her. It was as if she was a magnet, and I couldn't help but look at her.

"Hey, are you okay?" Connie asked, realizing I wasn't looking at her anymore.

I snapped my attention back to her and twirled her around, offering a smile. "Yes, of course!"

She smiled, giggling. "Good!" She grabbed my hand and pulled me into the sweaty mosh pit of inebriated people, and started dancing along to the music, making me follow along with her.

Immediately I plaster on a smile, letting my mind wander off to (Y/N). Every time we went out like this, my mind always wandered to her. Sure, I always got the girl, but it usually got cut short because of (Y/N). Every time I would get into a relationship, then hang out with her, I would return to my girlfriend feeling empty, and tell her This isn't going to work out, I'm sorry. Then I would go searching again.

Except, now I realize why I've had a gaping hole for such a long time now. It's because of her.

"Brian!"

I snap out of my thoughts and see Connie pointing to the DJ booth while laughing. "They're playing one of your songs!"

I raised an eyebrow, an unfortunately immediately recognized it. Dancer from our Hot Space album. I knew that they would use those songs for drunken club hits.

Just as I was about to be pulled back into the dancing I see (Y/N) look over at me, and I see her eyes glazed as if she had just finished crying. But as soon as our eyes meet, she quickly looks away and continues dancing, completely ignoring me.

At that second, I feel myself getting frustrated. I wanted to be over there, dancing with her. I saw her. She looked miserable. She's my best friend, I should be over there with her. Not Connie, her.

"Hey Connie, I'm going to go get a drink, ill be back, alright?" I yell over the loud music, making sure that she can hear me.

She looks up at me and nods, still dancing happily.

As I saw her continuing to dance, I felt a pang in my chest. What was that? Anger? Sadness? Guiltiness?

As soon as I arrived over to her, she stopped dancing with the guy she was dancing with and looked at me dead in the eyes. She looked like she was hurt. It was either that, or she was drunk.

"What, Brian?" She said snarkily, with a hint of tipsiness in her tone.

"Come with me," I muttered, growing more impatient by the second. I grabbed her hand and led her out of the sweaty mosh pit and led her to an empty area in the back of the club so Connie couldn't see us.

---

"Yes?" You asked, annoyed you got pulled away from your dance partner.

You were having the time of your life so far. You were drunk, somebody offered you a bit of pot to smoke, and you were dancing all of your cares away with people you didn't even know. You normally didn't do all of that stuff, but you couldn't bear to stand there and watch Brian have the time of his life with that... Connie. What kind of name even is that?

"What is that smell?" Asked Brian, plugging up his nose.

You shrugged, leaning up against the wall while Brian stood in front of you. "I dunno," you chuckled playfully. But you did. "Alcohol?"

He shook his head. "No... It's different." He paused, then a sudden look of realization spread upon his face. "(Y/N), is that pot?" He asked disgustingly.

You chuckled, biting your lip. You didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Then, of course, you are high. "What if it is?"

He shook his head. "I thought you were better than that."

You scoffed. "Brian, it's just one smoke, come on. Don't be so dull." You watched Brian's expression, and he looked different. He looked very impatient and almost angry. "Besides, Roger and Freddie do it all the time, what's the deal with me doing it once?"

He sighed. "You're different (Y/N)."

You could feel the alcohol wearing off. Your sober side felt like it was kicking in. "Oh yeah? Then tell me how I'm so different from them, huh?"

You wanted to punch Brian. He wouldn't let you have a little fun, while he would always go off with some female. It was like what you did was worse.

"You just are! Don't ask me!" He shouted, even though it didn't seem like he was, over the loud music and people.

You felt like you were fuming. "Oh please, Brian, I'm not any different to you, or to anyone you've ever met. You just use me then throw me away! You call me up for one of your girlfriends, then once I'm done, you don't ever speak to me ever again until the next one! I only go to your stupid studio crap because Freddie asks me to! You never do anything for me, Brian! I'm sick and tired of your games!" You shout, your fists now balled up. "Sooner or later, you're going to end up throwing Deaky, Roger and Freddie away, just like you do with everyone else!" Just as you say that you realize what you've said, and you cover your mouth up with your hands. "Bri, I'm so sorry."

Brian looked shocked and sad at the same time. He shook his head while pursing his lips together in thought. "That was too far. I would never get rid of them." He paused, probably wonder if he should walk away from you or not. "And I had no clue you felt that way, (Y/N). You should've told me."

You nodded, looking down at the floor in guilt for your sudden outburst. There was a long, awkward pause.

"Why did you come over here anyway?" You asked to clear the silence.

He shrugged. "I don't care to remember now. "

You rolled your eyes. "Oh please Brian, don't be fucking petty. You do remember why, you have a reason."

He shrugged, now looking away from you, his chest turned towards you but his head turned away.

You groaned at his stubbornness and moved away from the wall. "Whatever. I'm going to actually go back to enjoying myself."

"No," said Brian plainly, grabbing hold of your wrist and pulling you back against the wall.

You smirked. Connecting the dots, you now knew why he pulled you away from that group of people and led you to this empty area. "Oh, I see. You're jealous."

His head snapped back to where you were and he furrowed his eyebrows. "Sorry, what?"

You cheekily smiled, as you realized he was denying you. "You're jealous, Brian May. You saw me over there, having the time of my life, and you weren't with Connie, so you pulled me over here so I couldn't. Is that it?"

He shrugged. "Yes and no."

You rose an eyebrow. "No?"

"I wasn't jealous of you having the time of your life... It's... Something else."

You furrowed your eyebrows, wondering what in the world he could be jealous about. "Well, what is it?"

"I can't tell you."

"Can't or won't?" You asked him, now standing directly in front of him, looking up at him, staring him dead in his eyes. You knew he was denying himself, and you wanted to pull it out of him. What was he hiding? "Tell me, what is it?"

His hazel eyes slowly, but really, finally found your eyes and you could tell he was finally letting his guard down. "What if I show you?"

You stare back into his eyes, waiting for his answer. "Fine then, go ahead."

He slowly brings his hands up to your waist, pushing you closer and closer until your back is pressed against the wall. His face comes almost too close for your liking, but then that's when you realize, he's going to kiss you. You smirk, finally being able to get Brian. He chose you over Connie. Finally.

His soft lips press up against yours, your eyes close in satisfaction as you finally got the prize. You finally got your dream, and you didn't have to do anything except wake him up out of his state.

You kissed him back and ran your fingers through his curled up hair, wanting to do that since you became friends. It felt so soft and you wanted to keep your fingers there forever.

Eventually, you parted, both of you being out of breath for wanting each other for so long.

You snickered, coming up with a clever remark in your head.

"What's so funny?" He chuckled, pressing his forehead up against yours.

"I can't believe you were jealous of that man I was dancing on," you laughed, which made him blush.

He chuckled, shaking his head, probably wanting to curl up into a ball then and there. "No, no, that's not it. I just um..."

You stared at him with a really? face, and he laughed.

"Okay maybe a little bit, but no, I was jealous because you weren't with me. And I'm sorry for acting out upon you."

You nodded. "Yeah, I'm sorry too."

Brian smiled again, which made your heart melt. "Do you wanna stay here, or go and get a few drinks?"

You shrugged, pecking his lips, which you were sure was more than okay. "Let's stay here. I think I've had more than enough drinks for tonight."

He nodded, laughing. "That is perfectly okay with me."

He pressed his lips up against yours again, letting the night take you both, ignoring everyone else in the club, pretending it was only you and Brian.
