Chapter 3

*Ty POV*

People can call me crazy for doing this every year, but I don't care. This is the only way I feel like I have a family member with me.

Wouldn't you do this if you were an only child and something tragic happened to your guardians?

I laid down some flowers on their graves. Trying not to cry, I hugged the two graves that sat next to each other.

They read:

Here lies Ruby & Bart Lox.

I couldn't help but let some tears fall to the ground.

"I wish you two were here to see how much of our community has grown." I whisper. A few people who were walking by noticed me and I couldn't help over hearing theirs conversation.

"When I die, can you come to my grave and talk to me?" I heard the male ask.

"Only if you would do the same for me if I die first." Said the female. They nodded and kept walking.

That's cute how they made that promise to each other. Like how I do this every year. My eyes felt a little wet. I felt my face and realize that I was crying.

~Time skip!~

My watch went of, signaling that I had to return to the house. "Bye mom. Bye dad. See you next year."

Well making my way down hill from where my parents were. There was a loud bang, not from a the sky, but from a boom! There was screaming, yelling, and crying.

People from all around the village came running. Some with swords, others with fire extinguisher. I joined the crowd.

One single building was on fire. "MY CHILD IS STILL IN THERE!" A woman cried. Guards ran over to me "General Deadlox! What should we do?" They asked.

I looked at the fire. "I'm going in, you tell Sky to get something to stop this fire before it spreads!" I ordered.

They nodded and ran to Sky well I ran into the building. "Help! I'm stuck! Anyone help me!" I heard a little girl cry. "I'm coming! Try not to touch the fire!" I yelled out.

The cries came from a bed room. The girl was sitting on the bed, crying. She looked up. "Please help me!" She asked. I walked up to her and picked her up. "Everything is going to be ok, just hold on!"

Her nails dug deep into my skin. At this point I didn't care about myself, I care more about getting this girl to safety.

"Agh!" Something cut me on the shoulder!

Ty, don't pay attention to that! Get that little girl out of here before worrying about yourself!

I ran to the door and rammed into it well covering this poor child with my cloak. People stared at me as I walked up to the little girl's mom.

"Do you have my daughter?" She asked wiping away tears. I moved the cloak out of the way, showing her that I had her baby. She took her out of my arms.

"Thank you! My baby girl is with me! If there's anything I can do for you, just ask me!" She was hysterical. I smiled.

"I'm just glad that your child is safe, you don't need to do anything for me." I told her. She walked over to a medic in training to make sure everything was ok with the little girl.

"Ty! Thank goodness you're safe!" Sky yelled running at me. He hugged me so tight that I thought that I was going to pass out.

"Why did you run in there in the first place?" He asked. "That lady's kid was still in there, and everyone else was shocked that there was a fire, so I save that little girl." He looked at me.

"And this is why I made you a general." Sky said putting his hand on my shoulder but quickly moved it. "You're bleeding!" Sky's eyes fell onto the cut. "Yeah, I kinda ran into something sharp and....." Things started to get blurry and I felt so cold. "Ty are you sure you're okay?" Sky asked. Then things started fading into black.

*Sky POV*

Ty started swaying back and forth a little. He fell back, but before he could hit his head I caught him.

"You! Go get Red! Now!" I pointed at one man. "No need! For I am here!" Red yelled as he ran through the crowd.

~time traveling~

"Does the cut look serious?" I asked. Red was still checking out the gaping, bleeding, slit in his arm. "No, not really, it's not that deep, but he lost enough blood to pass out."  He said wrapping bandages around the cut.

"Don't you think you should do something more than just put bandages ?" Red turn around. "Sky, I washed out the wound too, he'll be fine for now, it's just way to dangerous for me to do anything else right now." Red walked to the door. "Just be happy he had that cloak on, or the cut may have been deeper."

When Red left, I sat alone next to the sleeping Deadlox. He looks so peaceful just sleeping there. "Ty, you're way to nice for your own good." I mumbled. He almost lost his life twice, once trying to save his own family, and now this.

Ty's way to good for this world to have right now. I grabbed his hand. They were so soft.

I will protect him with all my life. This will never happen to him again.

I realize that music really affects what I write. 'Slipped Away' was playing when I started writing. 'Kill the lights' was playing during the house fire. Then a song that came right after 'Angle of Darkness' helped me write the ending. Now 'Hopes and Dreams' is playing.
