Speed of Light

Genos looked around the streets as he waited for you outside the coffee shop. He was leaning precariously against the wall tapping his foot on the ground when he glance over to the clock in the corner of his vision.

10:39 AM

He sighed. You were late again.

But he knew it wasn't your fault. You were probably still trying to lose sight of your brother in order to get here without being hassled. This had become a routine for the two of you. But today you were later than usually which worried him.

It was tough for you and him to be together. You were the sister of one of his enemies and he and Saitama had had some bad run ins with him. When Genos met you he had no idea of the circumstances. But even now he didn't want to give you up.

He was still lost in his thoughts when he suddenly felt a soft peck on his cheek. His head snapped to the side and there you were right before him. A big smile spread on your lips as you gazed at him. "Hey, sorry I'm late. It was hard getting Sonic out of my hair," You huffed tiredly. "But well I think I lost him, which means we'll have more time together today."

"Are you sure? He has a habit of showing up during unwanted times...." Genos said, remembering the time he had tried to kiss you when Sonic had gotten there and pulled you two apart.

"Of course! Light does travel faster than sound," You grinned. "Now, let's get going before he shows up." He shook his head but followed you anyway.

You guys made it over to the park down the street and were calmly strolling through it while talking about the events of the past week. Genos warmed up his hand to make it more comfortable for you while you held the cool metal. He enjoyed this time with you greatly since you were both always busy defeating monsters or stopping disastrous occurrences every other day. He wished that things would be a bit easier for you and him.

You yawned out pure randomness and asked for you guys to sit down at a bench. You took a seat and rested your head against his shoulder. "Genos, one day we'll be okay right?"

"What do you mean?"

"Some day in the future, we'll be able to live worry free?" You glanced up at his sincere golden eyes. "You know I love you, but between my brother hating your guts and our hero business I can't see a time where will be able to settle down and be happy. Sonic still loathes me for joining the Hero Association which doesn't make the situation any better."

"Everything will work out in the end," Genos encouraged throwing an arm around you and squeezing your shoulder. "For now, it's important that we can withstand the difficulties."

"You always seem so sure. I'm glad I have your reassurance," You smiled at him.

"Of course, you'll always have it, (y/n). I don't plan on letting you walk away because of some petty nagging from your brother," He said, kissing your forehead. "I love you too much to do that."

He then lightly nudged your chin up to look at him making you blush at the sudden proximity between you two. Carefully, he captured your lips with his. He ran his fingers through your hair to the back of your neck and pulled you deeper into the kiss. Genos couldn't contain himself when he was around you and it was worse when he kissed you. It was as if the world around him had dissipated and all that mattered was that he had you with him, connected by the sweet, simple act of kiss.

Your lips moved softy according to his. For a long time you forgot what everything was. You just wanted to savor the taste and scent of Genos on you. His gentle, perfectly sculpted lips were like medicine for all your worries.

Unfortunately, one of those worries had found you.

"Oi wires for brains get your face off my sister!!"

The voice made you jump out of Genos's grasp. Your head whipped over to the sound. "Sonic!?"

There was your extremely pissed off ninja brother marching up towards you guys. "Get the hell away from this guy!!"

"What do you want!? I'm on a date!"

"A date!" The dark haired man said breathlessly with a false amused smile. "You can't date him! I don't approve!"

"Since when have I cared about your approval!?" You yelled.

Genos slow got off the bench to approach him. "Look, Sonic-"

"Don't fucking go near my sister again got it!?" Sonic threatened, grabbing your wrist and pulling you up. But you yanked it back. "Don't touch me! I'm not going anywhere!"

"(y/n) I'm not letting you date some hero who's ready to throw his life away because of stupid reasons, now let's go!"

"But you forget I am one of those heroes!" You defended. "Just because you're selfish and work solely for yourself doesn't mean I have to follow in your footsteps."

"(y/n) has the right to choose her path," Genos intervened firmly. "So let her make her decisions."

"Shut up! You shouldn't even be here anymore, this is family business," Sonic glared at him.

"Anything that involves (y/n), involves me," Genos said broadening his shoulders.

"You're not going to be with her even if I have to kill you," Sonic said as he reached for the blade at his hip.

You stared between the two not knowing what to do. You were positive that if anything else came out of their mouths a fight would surely break out. And in a public place like the park it would put a lot of people in danger. You needed to separate them.

But how?

If you consented to being whisked away you would never be left alone by Sonic ever again. It would become nearly impossible to sneak out and meet Genos. And he had already bumped up his alert systems when he found you with him before. You loved your brother but he was a protective asshole at times.

"Please....." You whispered as you tugged on Sonic's sleeve. "Just leave. We can discuss this later."

"No, there's nothing to discuss," He hissed. "You're never going to see this guy again." Then, you heard the clasp of the blade break out. In a split second, he was beating down on Genos's defensive forearms. "(y/n)! Get out of here!" Genos ordered.

Whether you wanted to or not, you had to move as Sonic's katana clashed with Genos's metal. You ducked behind a tree while Genos was forced to match Sonic's speed as he relentlessly slashed at him.

However, he did a tremendous job keeping up and dodging Sonic's attacks. With every swing of the sword Genos gained an opening to try and shoot him with his fire blasters. Genos might've even been in going at a higher speed, an incredible feet you didn't think he could reach. The only person who you knew that could that was Saitama and yourself.

You were hoping that this fight would end soon, but you regretted thought when you saw Genos ready to release an insane amount of energy on your brother. And no matter how much you hated him for bugging into your life, you still didn't want your only family left to die. "Genos, don't!!" You screamed. His eyes widened as your voice reached his ears. He immediately retracted his hand.

But Sonic hadn't given up just yet.

"Four Shadows Burial!" All of sudden there were four Sonics bouncing around closing in on the cyborg. The images shuddered and wavered at the intensity of the speed he was going at. "Don't think you'll won so easily," Sonic's voice echoed. "Scattered Flash Slash!!"

Your heart seemed to stop at that moment and your body took over all your instincts. In less than a microsecond, you had gotten off the ground and bolted over to Genos. You could see the blade aimed directly at his head, a fatal move if it got through to his brain. But you were a billion times faster than sound and got their just in time to take the hit.

By the time Sonic realized you had jumped in it was already too late. He pulled the blade back just a few seconds after it had sliced into your neck. You gasped as the sting of the bloody gash burned your skin. Your hand went up to cover the wound as best you could.

Genos stared in alarm. "(Y/N)!!!" Sonic was left a speechless puppet.

But you were still standing, gazing at your brother with a determined expression. "If you kill him, you kill me."

"(y/n)! Let me see," Genos mumbled from behind you as he ripped his shirt to bandage your neck.

"I'm fine, Genos, it's just a flesh wound."

Sonic's voice had finally returned. "(y/n)......why.....?"

"Because," You trembled as tears gathered around your eyes. "I love him."

He glanced between the two of you in disbelief, but didn't say anything.

"I love him, Sonic. And nothing you do or say will change that. I am prepared to die for him, so if you attempt it once more I promise you, you will be killing your sister in the process."

Sonic took your words seriously, not only because of the tone of your voice or the sad defiance on your face but because he knew it was possible. Sonic always bragged that he was the fastest person on earth but he knew that wasn't true. You had been born with the gift of light. And that light could travel around the world in less than 7.5 seconds. That kind of power being able to intervene in his fight would make him notice too little too late that you had even gotten involved. That was proven right now.

"Sonic," Genos began. "I know you hate me, and I know you don't want us to be together, but have you ever consider putting aside your differences and letting your sister be happy? If you truly cared for her you'll see that you're hurting her more than you'll ever know."

Sonic jaw tightened as he saw the reality in those words. Tears streamed down your face even though you fought to hold them back. Pain and sorrow was etched onto your features, the blood from where he had struck you was oozing down your limbs.

Sonic stared at the two of you for a moment before slowly sliding his katana into its holder. "And what about you?" Sonic questioned. "What makes you think you're so special for my sister?"

"She's my everything," Genos said simply. "As long as I'm alive I'll be there for her. I love her more than she'll ever know." You glanced over to Genos with a small smile which he returned with soft gaze.

"Do you really love him?" Sonic asked you.

"With all my heart."

".......fine."

You blinked. "What?"

"Fine," He repeated. "I don't care anymore. Be with him."

"Are.....are you serious.....?" You took a few steps toward and looked at him incredulously. Then, a cry of happiness escaped your lips and you threw your arms around him. "Y-you, you don't how.... I just...." You couldn't make coherent sentences as you sobbed into his shoulder and embraced him.

Sonic patted your head and hugged you back. "But I'm going to be there to supervise dates," He added strictly.

You pulled away from him and gave him shocked look. "What!? No way!"

Genos cleared his throat. "Um I appreciate that you trust me now but-"

"Who said I trusted you?"

"Sonic, you're not going with me on dates! I'm not a child!"

"I think (y/n)'s old enough to know what she's doing, Sonic......."

"And who the hell brought you into this conversation?"

"Sonic!"

I really like this imagine, I'm gonna write some more of this in the future.

Okay, so on to some of my thoughts as of right now. What do you guys think of a Sonic x reader book? I might be overwhelming myself so this is what I'm thinking to balance myself. If I do write it, I'll juggle it with the Saitama book. Meaning every other Saturday I will be updating those books. For fans of this book don't worry, this one will stay every Saturday unless something arises in my life that prevents me from doing so.

But anyways thank you guys for reading! :D
