Logan didn't show up for school the next day.
Patton was confused when he didn't see him anywhere. He wasn't at there lockers in the morning, despite usually being the first one there. At first Patton believed that maybe he had been late. It certainly wasn't like Logan to not show up for school on time.
Then lunch time came around, and still Logan was no where to be seen. Patton knew Logan never missed class unless he was too sick to even move, so of course he had started to worry. Not only was that worrying, but when he looked to where Virgil usually sat with Roman and Archer, no one but Archer was there. Archer caught him looking and shot him a dark glare, Patton jumping and quickly glancing around to see if Virgil was anywhere. To his surprise, Virgil and Roman were both sitting together at a different table. They both looked exhausted, and Patton couldn't help but wonder why.
He desperately wanted to talk to Virgil, wanting to know why Logan would be missing. He assumed that if anyone had heard from him, it would be his boyfriend. Fortunately, it looked as though he would get the chance to talk to him when Roman left the table. Glancing in Archer's direction once it seemed that the bully was paying no attention to him or Virgil, so he quickly made his way over to him.
"Virgil!" Patton put a hand on the students shoulder, making him jump and turn to face him. He looked scared, and Patton frowned. "What's wrong?"
"I-nothing. What did you want?" He asked, face blank. Patton chewed his lip nervously, glancing around.
"Logan... he's not here today." He sighed, not noticing Virgil flinching at the mention of Logan's name. "Is something wrong? Do you know? He's not sick or anything, right?"
"When was the last time you talked to him..?" Virgil asked.
"Just at lunch yesterday. He didn't respond to any texts yesterday, but I just assumed he was busy." Patton said, seeing Virgil frown. Virgil wouldn't meet his eyes, hesitating as he thought on what to say.
"You should... go see him, after school. Make sure he's okay." He suggested. Patton nodded.
"Don't you want to go with me?" He questioned. Virgil fiddled with his hoodie sleeve nervously, and he shook his head.
"I can't today. Sorry, Patton." He muttered, and Patton nodded.
"It's alright," he gave him an understanding smile. "I'll let you know if he's okay."
Virgil simply nodded, and Patton made his way back to his table just as Roman came back to where Virgil was sitting. Patton stared at the empty seat in front of him, frowning. He missed having his friend there to talk to.

Patton knocked softly on the door to Logan's house, stepping back and waiting patiently for an answer. He had come over to his house the second that school had ended. Glancing at the driveway, Patton saw no cars in front of the house. This wasn't that surprising, Logan's parents were never home when they got out of school, but as time passed by Patton wondered if maybe Logan wasn't there either.
"Logan?" Patton called as he knocked again, louder this time. "Are you okay in there?"
He was about to try opening the door himself when it finally was pulled open, Logan standing on the other side. Patton gasped as he saw him. Logan was a mess; his hair was messy, as if he had only just crawled out of bed, his eyes were red, and despite it being late in the day he was still wearing pajamas. Patton frowned, concerned for his friend. "What happened to you, Logan? Are you okay? Did you get sick?"
Logan said nothing for a moment, letting Patton walk inside. He frowned as he closed the door, not ready to face Patton yet. "Have you talked to Virgil today?"
"I asked him if he had seen you. He told me I should come check on you, since you weren't in school today." Patton explained, and Logan nodded.
"Oh." He muttered. "Did he... not tell you?"
"Tell me what?" He asked, confused. Logan finally turned to look at him, his eyes filling up with tears again and it finally clicked. "Oh, oh no... Did you two...? Oh, Logan, what happened?"
Patton pulled Logan into a hug as his tears silently slid down his cheeks, Logan simply standing there. He sniffled, trying to get his emotions under control before he spoke. "I really hate feelings, Patton. They are awful."
"I know, it really hurts. I'm so sorry, Logan." He apologized, holding him tighter. Logan finally returned the hug, awkwardly bringing his arms up to hold his friend close. He hid his face in his shoulder, sighing. "Do you want to talk about it?"
"He... he was tricking us, all along..." Logan mumbled. Despite the tears that still fell, Logan sounded more angry than sad at this point. "All this time, Roman and Archer knew. It was all a joke, he didn't-he never-"
Patton pulled back from the hug as he said this, eyes wide. "Logan-are you sure?" He asked, shocked that someone he considered his friend would do something that cruel. Logan nodded.
"I heard them. They were talking about how-how they were going to wait until I told him I loved him. Then they were going to tell me how it was all a joke." He spoke quickly, angrily. He felt like he couldn't breathe, a mix of anger and sadness causing his breath to catch in his throat. He just wished that he really was, as they always called him, a robot. He wished he had no emotions, that he had never fallen in love because it hurt so much.
What was the point of it all? For once in his life, Logan had been happy. He had a friend, and he had a boyfriend who he loved, and then that all fell apart. If something like that could be ruined in a day then why bother feeling anything?
"I'm sorry." He told Patton, staring at the ground. "This is all so... stupid. I should have seen through it sooner. It is my own fault I'm in this mess."
"That's not true!" Patton frowned, shaking his head. "It isn't your fault at all. How could you have known that they would do something like that? They're the only ones at fault here."
"Yes, they are the ones who did this, but how could I have been so stupid? I trusted him. I allowed myself to get close to him, and this is where it landed me." Logan sighed, wiping at his eyes, glaring at the floor as if it was the cause of all his troubles. "After all of this, I don't... I don't think I could trust anyone else again."
Patton frowned, stepping forward and placing a hand hesitantly on Logan's shoulder. "You still trust me, right? You know I'll be here for you no matter what?"
"You've already been here for me when I've had no one else." Logan looked up at Patton, not quite smiling but still assuring him he trusted him. "Thank you. I... I am sorry to you, as well. Virgil was your friend, so I am sure hearing that he did this is... awful."
"You don't have to be sorry, Logan. It isn't your fault, and just because I was his friend too doesn't mean you don't get to be upset." He told him, smiling reassuringly. There was a moment of silence, neither of them really sure what else there was to be said. Eventually, though, Patton spoke up again.
"I'm sure you don't want to see him again just yet, so... If you're going to be home from school for longer, I could bring you what you need to stay caught up?" He offered.
"That would be nice. Thank you." Logan nodded. He paused for a moment, running a hand through his messy hair. "Would you... like to stay over and talk for a while? While I've been here alone all I can think about is how I shouldn't have been so easily fooled, and I would prefer to get my mind off of it for a while."
"Of course!" Patton agreed, smiling at him. "I'm happy to spend time with you, Logan. I'm here to help in any way that you need."
"Thank you, Patton." He finally managed the smallest of smiles, breathing out a sigh of relief. Patton's own smile grew at seeing Logan look at least a little bit better than before. Although knowing what Virgil did hurt him too, he would definitely be sure to help his friend in any way, no matter what.
I wrote all of this this yesterday and forgot about it whoops
Sorry if Logan's too emotional. To be fair, I think anyone would cry if someone betrayed them like that, but I did try to make it fit him by making him angry as well, so idk, tell me what you think. What could I do better?
Even though I'm not a huge fan of this chapter, I hope you guys enjoyed it haha. Thanks for reading. Take care of yourselves. Bye!-Bob
