Panic! At the Disco
Eden
I'm frozen with terror. My lips tremble and I batter my eyes rapidly. People run around me while I stay still. The elbows and hands of fleeing people shove me from side to side. I watch as more dark people crash into the room.
Glass is shattered all over the floor. You would think the high-pitched screams broke it. I hear it hit the dance floor. More figures wearing black clothing crawl in and out of the windows. There are lots of them. I can't tell if I'm shivering in fear or from the cold air escaping into the room.
Desperate screams of help sound from every corner of the room. It is the only thing that fills my ears. I see a young woman fighting against the strength of a large man. I shut my eyes, not bearing to see the rest. A hand grabs my elbow.
I thrash and turn, scared of the person latched onto me. I don't want to be taken. Screams of my own add to the atmosphere. I can't run away, there are too many people, I realize. The person's grip doesn't loosen. I dig my nails into their hand and jerk away from them, unsuccessfully.
I am spun around by the person and I see Fox. She's blurry through my tears and my gut doesn't want to believe she's the one holding onto me. Her face is scrunched and fear is painted over her face as well. Behind her, Arlo fights through the crowd to rush towards us. Robin is not far behind him.
Robin is shouting something but I can't hear him. I hold onto Fox tightly. They guys reach us and there is no time for reunion. Robin bows his head towards us and shouts, "The kitchen! Run to the kitchen."
Fox registers this before I can; she pulls me across the floor. Arlo's hand is on my shoulder so I know he is with me. More and more royals are being attacked by these strangers. I can see it in the corner of my eyes. Even though I want to look down at my feet, I need to stay alert myself.
More panic fills me when someone intercepts me and Fox. My foot gets caught on their leg and I fall to the ground. Fox turns around immediately but another guy blocks her way from me. Shoes are on my dress and I struggle to pick myself up. Hands then come out of nowhere and pick me up and onto my feet effortlessly. I look to see it's Arlo and he quickly takes my hand in his and we run towards the kitchen again.
Fox is the first to push the kitchen door open and Arlo and I follow right after her with Robin right behind us. We don't stop to breathe but instead barricade the door. Robin grabs a nearby chair and props it against the door.
"I don't know if that'll hold it." Robin breathes heavily. His face is pale and he has lost his jacket in the crowd.
I can still hear the chaos from the ballroom. My vision is blurry and my eyes sting from tears. I can't breathe. I'm so overwhelmed that controlling my emotions is not possible right now. Don't cry. I'm with my friends, I'm okay.
"What if it doesn't work?" Fox frantically questioned. A dagger is now in her hands. I hadn't noticed it before. She grips it tightly at her side.
"There's a back door to the kitchen," Robin answers her. He points to the far side of the room. His back is leaned against the door to apply more pressure. "I'm afraid there might be more intruders out there, though."
"We can't stay in here forever," I whisper. I need to get out of here. Screams and yelling echo from the too-close room. My grip tightens around the corner of a cooking counter. I try to focus on the cold material of it instead of the hot tears threatening to burst.
Robin looks down at the floor, slowly nodding his head. He loosens the buttons to loosen the part around his collar with one hand, the other wrapped around the top of the chair.
"Alright, but stay close to me." Robin orders and storms towards the other side of the room. Fox follows him closely while Arlo gives me a look. He moves closer and whispers reassuring words into my ear. Hesitantly, I follow the others. I stand from a distance and watch Robin poke his head out through the door. Looking left and right he flashes a thumbs up behind him and moves from this room to the exposing hallway.
Light on our feet, we try to run soundlessly down the hall. My stomach cramps and a sick feeling crawls through my system. My breathing is loud but I can't control it to silence myself. I move as fast as I can but my heels slow me down. Blisters burn into my heels, adding to the pain.
Arlo looks behind him and jukes backward towards me. He picks me up in one fluid motion and continues to run. I silently thanked him for taking me into his arms because I was struggling to keep up.
Robin is ahead and he motions for us to round the corner. He leaves our sight for a second but comes flying back to our hallway, with a body on top of him. He falls to the floor with a grunt. Fox freezes and Arlo stops behind her.
Robin thrashes with the guy on top of him, fighting on the floor. The attacker's face is covered by a black fabric. I briefly see Robin's face during the brawl but when I do I see his teeth are clenched together and his blond hair is covering his wild eyes. Cursing comes from their snarled lips. Punches are thrown and so are each other.
I look around to see if there are any other people. Arlo drops me and I watch the hallways for others. When I'm finished looking there I look back down to see Fox has joined the fight. The mysterious man has trapped Robin underneath him but Fox comes up and kicks him in the side.
He lets out a groan of pain and rolls to the side. Robin quickly jumps onto him and takes his neck into his hands. His golden hair hangs down and also his shirt which has been untucked.
I can barely watch. My sister hands Robin her dagger and I can't watch what happens next. I cover my water-filled eyes with my sweaty hands. I feel Arlo wrap his hand around my arm. His shaking matches mine and we take off down the hallway once again. Robin keeps pace with us. He's hurt in several places. Blood runs down the side of his face and I try not to gag.
