I stepped to the side to grab my water bottle. We just finished our halftime performance, and we're going to have to get back to cheering pretty soon. 

I take a look at the scoreboard. "We're winning, girls! 124 Crestwick, 48 Juniper!" I cheered. "Keep going, guys! It's thanks to us that we're winning!" Crestwick was amazing at basketball already, but we liked to think it was us. 

The girls filed onto the side to cheer for our team. I was about to join them in front, when a hand stopped me. 

"Oh! Katlin! Something wrong?" I asked. Her hair was in that cute red bun, and her green eyes seemed brighter than normal. Man, she looked good today. Then again, so did I. Our red, skimpy uniforms looked perfect on us, especially me. 

"Um, yeah. Listen, Roberta." She took my hands. "I know this is a bad time, but... I really like you. I want to give this a try. I get it if you're not into girls or anything, but I-"

I had to shut her up somehow. I pulled her close and kissed her. Katlin was shocked, at first, but she let her eyes close and she sunk into the kiss. One of the girls saw us kissing and pointed. The other girls caught sight of us, and started cheering. The rest of the audience noticed, too. 

Once we realized we were caught, I dragged her out into the basketball court and kissed her again, this time in front of everyone. Cheering went throughout the crowd. I pulled back and raised Katlin's hand triumphantly. 

"Hey Crestwick! I want you all to see this! This girl right here, she's my new girlfriend!" The crowd cheered. 

That was the day I got together with Katlin. That day, I promised myself... I was never going to let her go. I would never let her fall.
