Roman Can't Catch a Break(he is the punching bag friend)

A/n: the way that this chapter was so much shorter is insane but I hope ya'll enjoy it anyway!

As soon as Virgil got back into the car, he opened his package of gummy bears, and with a beet red face took his phone out. He couldn't believe that within the first few hours of the road trip, he'd already pissed himself. He began to stress eat his gummy bears while he navigated to Spotify to blast music. The silence in the car was almost as bad as if they would have tried to talk to him about it.

No words were exchanged and the heavy silence that filled the car was awkward for all three of them. Patton had sent his son some sympathetic looks, trying to convey that he felt really bad for him. This wasn't how his son had wanted his first day actually getting to know Logan to turn out, and Patton knew that—even if he'd known from the start that an accident would be inevitable.

On a lighter note, Patton was very grateful for the way that Logan had handled the whole situation. It had all went amazingly well, and in the end there was no need for Virgil to overthink because Logan genuinely didn't have a problem with what had happened. He hadn't been disgusted, or annoyed, and had actually managed to talk to Virgil a little bit and get him to come out of the bathroom.

Despite how kind Logan had been, Virgil was still managing to overthinking the whole thing. Even though there was really no need to. But, that was the whole concept of overthinking. Sure, Logan had been nice to him, and extremely patient. But that was probably only because his dad had been there. Because he wanted to look good in front of Patton. Not to mention that his dad had probably sent Logan into the bathroom after him. Probably because he knew that Virgil was leas likely to cause a fuss. Why would he go to Virgil on his own, anyway?

He let out a quiet sigh and opened his texting app.

Virgil: Guys I wet myself in the car

Virgil: sisbisbsjsnskwns

-everyone is typing-

Janus: Oh my god, really?!, was it bad? How did Logan react? Did you even ask to stop?

Remus: What happened?!?

Virgil: Yes, I asked to stop!! AFTER I had already been panicking about it for so long! But it was too late! And hell yeah it was horrible, it was everywhere

Virgil: we stopped at a car wash and they cleaned it while I had a panic attack in the bathroom—anyways, Logan actually reacted surprisingly well, he was real nice about it...and when I went 2 the bathroom to change he went after me and we talked a little but Idk I think my dad just sent him after me.

Virgil: And he also gave me some gummy bears which im binge eating on rn

Roman: Wow, what an excellent bonding moment 🙌👏 good job

Remus: stfu Roman

Janus: do i need to kill u?

Virgil: -_- You're still alive?

Remus: LMAO, I-

Janus: bEUHG

Roman: OH COME ON YOU'RE NOT EVEN SAYING 'BRUH' AT THIF POINT!!!

Janus: this*

Roman: You're a real asshat you know that?

Janus: wow what a creative nickname you came up with this time

Virgil chuckled, his friends always knew how to cheer him up, even when they weren't even trying.

Virgil: Well, we're going to a museum tomorrow so pray for me pls

Janus: dude you won't survive, museums are huge have fun trying to find a bathroom lmao

Remus: draw a penis on one of the displays for me!

Roman: I hate you

Virgil: I hate all of you

Janus: D :

Virgil: Suffer.

He smirked, leaning his head against the window as he continued to text his friends. Patton risked a glance back, and was happy to see that his son wasn't sulking anymore. He still decided not to talk to him for a while though, because he didn't want to push anything. Teenagers scared the living poop out of him, anyway.

Virgil fell asleep again after a while of what Patton could only assume was writing angsty sonnets. Once he was sure that he was asleep, Patton found this to be the perfect opportunity to talk to Logan about the whole situation, "Logie, you handled that so well, you were very sweet towards him, and i'm so happy you weren't...you know, too disgusted or anything" he smiled, leaning to the left to peck Logan on the cheek as he drove.

"Well, Patton, why should I be disgusted when there isn't any reason to be? Oh, and I certainly wouldn't make fun of him, sometimes you just can't help it" Logan said matter of factly, leaving no room for arguments, "especially with bladder problems. It's inevitable—I basically signed up for it."

"Well, another boyfriend of mine in the past was really cruel to Virgil when he saw him wet himself. He ridiculed him, made fun of him, laughed and everything! It was really extra, and he drew way more attention to it than necessary, as we were out in public-it was then that I saw his true colors and cut him off. If that's how he treated my son, than I didn't want him" Patton explained.

"As you should. Was this boyfriend Dave, perhaps?" Logan questioned.

"Yes! Gosh, we were barely even boyfriends, we barely got past the first date!" He chuckled.

Logan smiled as Paton yawned, "sleepyhead" he teased, "I had a lot of practice with you, you know. Dealing with Virgil is nothing compared to you, dear. You've had more accidents than I can count."

Patton blushed, "hey!" He protested, but laughed along with him, because he couldn't really argue with that.

Logan decided to let up on the teasing and talk more about the plan for the rest of the day, "we're going to get to the hotel in about an hour. I can check us in while you get Virgil and our things together. Do either of you have a floor preference?"

"No, but Virgil likes to be on the lowest floor possible. He says that he's afraid of fires" Patton smiled.

"Alright then. The cheapest rooms seem to be on the bottom floors, and we don't need anything fancy, so I suppose his fears have worked out in our favor. Here's to hoping that Virgil stays asleep for the remainder of the car ride. I would prefer if he avoided as many awkward situations as possible. He seems to get very anxious very easily."

"Yeah" Patton chuckled, "he has anxiety. Sweet kiddo—my poor little anxious baby! I'm surprised this didn't kill him to be honest! I expected him to put up much more of a fight about going on this little trip with you!"

"Oh, Patton, i'm sure he'll warm up to me sooner or later..I mean, I know we aren't going to bond on the first day..maybe not even the first week, or even possibly even the duration of this entire trip. All I can do is try to be kind to him and hope he warms up" Logan shrugged.

"Gosh Logie, you're so understanding. This is why i love you so much... you're so kind and understanding, and you always seem to know everything. You reign me in when I get too much, and I help you get out of your shell. We're perfect for each other!" Patton squealed, quickly becoming emotional, "and I just love you so, so much and i'm worried that if Virgil doesn't like you you'll get tired, and leave—"

"Patton, relax. That's unrealistic. I will never get tired, not of you, nor of Virgil. I'm not going anywhere, I promise. I see no logical reason for Virgil to truly have a problem with me, so that shouldn't be something we worry about" Logan said gently.

Patton sniffled, wiping his eyes, "thank you, Logan... I don't know why I'm so emotional, it's just—i've never had anyone like you before, and i'm just so thankful that you're willing to do this, despite everything."

Logan used the hand that wasn't on the wheel to hold Patton's, "you don't need to thank me for the bare minimum. It doesn't cost anything to be kind."

They continued to drive in silence for a little while, enjoying each other's company. Eventually, the car filled with quiet chatter between the two adults. They heard some rustling going on in the back, and Patton turned his head to check it out as Logan looked through the rear-view mirror.

Virgil's bangs were hanging over his eyes, so they couldn't tell if he was still sleeping or not. Patton smirked. He had a trick up his sleeve. He took out his phone and snapped a photo, "he's so cute! I'll just post this to facebook—"

"DAD!" Virgil cried, blushing as he yawned and rubbed the sleep from his eyes, "don't you dare! I can and will sacrifice you during the next ritual!"

Patton's mouth dropped open, "you wouldn't!"

"Try me" Virgil smirked.

They continued to bicker back and forth as they pulled up to the hotel. Logan went inside to check into their rooms while Patton stayed behind to force his still kind of tired and grumpy son to help grab their things.
