Adam lay his silverware on his plate and picked up his phone as he chewed his last bite of breakfast. He had just opened his Facebook page when he heard Tim clear his throat rather loudly. Adam raised his head to see Tim with his arm outstretched and his palm facing up. 

"Would you like your phone back?" Adam asked innocently.

"What do you think?" was Tim's sarcastic reply.

"I think if you want it you need to come and take it from me." Adam replied with a smirk as he quickly moved the phone from under his leg to between his legs.

Adam pulled Tim into his side and spoke quietly. "I know this wasn't too much of a dom/sub scene but the guidelines still apply. Is there anything I can do for you?"

Tim's face became serious as he contemplated his answer. "Can you promise me something?"

"I'll certainly try." Adam replied. He was suddenly worried about what Tim might ask him.

"I know babies change things. You'll be spending more time with Jenika once the baby is born and I know you'll be more tired and sleeping upstairs to help with night feedings, and..." Tim paused to perfect his wording. "Can you promise me we won't lose this? This connection. This closeness. This ability to read each other. I don't want to lose you." Tim sniffed as he finished his sentence.

Adam hugged Tim tighter and kissed the top of his head before he spoke, "I promise I will do everything in my power to keep the post-baby us as close to the pre-baby us as I can. I don't want to lose you or this either." Adam fought his tears and swallowed hard before continuing, "Can you promise me something too?"

"I'll certainly try." Tim replied while smiling up at Adam, knowing he'd thrown his own words back at him.

"Can you promise me that if you feel I'm not doing my part to keep us close and connected that you will tell me, immediately? You won't let it build and drive us further apart?" Adam hoped his last sentence didn't sound accusatory but he didn't want Tim holding things again.

"I promise." Tim sighed. "I won't hide from you again."

Adam placed a finger under Tim's chin and pulled him into a kiss. "I love you, Tim." He whispered into his lips. "Now and forever."

Tim was too overtaken with emotion to respond. He poured all his feelings into their kiss.
