EIGHTY FIVE

Adam finally pulled away from Jenika and wiped his eyes. They boarded the bus so they could get on the road to the next show.

Adam looked at Rob, "Where's Tim?"

"He's in the back. Chance is with him." Rob gently took Adam by the wrist, "He asked to give them some time alone and not let anyone else back there."

"Rob, please," Adam whined. "I need to talk to him."

"Adam, he needs time." Rob tried to reason with the blond, "I don't know what happened between you but he's hurt and angry. You need to let that anger settle before you try talking to him. Maybe Chance can calm him. Let him try."

Adam sighed and dropped onto the couch. He knew Rob was right but he was hurt too. He knew it was his own fault but to have Tim actually recoil and step away from him broke his heart. Adam pulled his knees up to his chest and curled as far into the corner as he could. He buried his head in the couch cushion and shut out the world around him.

Everyone on the bus could feel the tension in the air. The bus was usually rowdy but today it was almost silent. The only sounds were short conversations spoken in whispers. Adam stayed curled up on the couch thinking and silently praying that he hadn't completely lost Tim.

Tim wiped his tears and pulled out of Chance's arms. He didn't speak; he just sat and stared.

"Talk to me, Tim" Chance pleaded with him. "Anything you tell me goes no further than this room. We've known each other a long time. Please trust me and tell me what's going on."

Tim sighed as he turned to look at Chance, "There are some things about mine and Adam's relationship that would truly shock some people."

"Uh, besides also being in a relationship with Jenika?" Chance asked with a raised eyebrow.

"That's actually fairly tame." Tim said as he shook his head.

Chance's eyes grew wide and his mind raced trying to figure out what he could possibly be talking about. "Tim are you going to tell me or just hint towards it?"

Tim leaned forward and whispered in Chance's ear, "Adam is a dominant."

"WHA...?" Chance started to shout before slapping his hand over his mouth. Thankfully, there was highway noise and a horn blowing at that moment; nobody heard the shout. Chance brought his voice back to a whisper, "Quiet, nerdy, introverted Adam is a dominant?" Tim nodded his head. "Wait, so you're his submissive? I just can't picture that."

"Yes and yes. It's not all the time and not even every time we have sex but it's a part of us as a couple." Tim nodded. "We also have a set of rules that the three of us came up with to help keep us together and on the same page."

Chance nodded, urging Tim to continue. "Well, I broke one of the rules so I had to be punished." Chance was sitting stock still with his mouth hanging open while listening to Tim. "I'm not going to go into details but Adam told Jenika what was going on, without me knowing, and she even participated, again without me knowing."

"How did you not know she was participating in your punishment?" Chance was confused.

"You really don't want the details but it happened and I just found out today" Tim sighed.

"Okay" Chance said. "So what has you the most upset: him letting her participate or them hiding it from you?"

"Both!" Tim growled. "Hiding things goes against our rules and he knows that I'm new to this dom/sub stuff. He shouldn't have let her make it harder on me." Tim sighed. "I don't know if I can trust him."

"Trust him at all or just in the dom stuff?" Chance held his breath, loss of trust is a death knell for most relationships.

"Just in the dom stuff, otherwise I trust him with my life." Tim replied.

Chance finally let out the breath he'd been holding. "Are you also mad at Jenika?"

"Well, yes, but not as much so. She isn't an experienced Dom; Adam should have told her no." Tim huffed. "And she participated in hiding the truth."

"I know you didn't ask for my opinion but I'm going to put it out there anyway" Chance said as Tim rolled his eyes. "First, you and Adam need to sit down and talk. Yes, after your anger has settled some. Second, maybe you two need to pause the dom/sub thing until you rebuild the trust. Third, all three of you need to talk about breaking your rules. Fourth, I know there are consequences for rule breaking but maybe now isn't the best time for another punishment."

Tim pulled Chance into another hug, "Thank you for listening and your unsolicited advice. None of this leaves this room, right?"

"Right." Chance answered. "Honestly, though, I don't think anyone would believe me if I did tell them." Tim raised and eyebrow at his fellow bass. Chance held up his hands, "I'm not telling a soul. Swear it on my life." Chance leaned closer to Tim, "We may need to talk a little more in depth at some point though. I have questions."

"Maybe," Tim chuckled. "I hate to ask this but can I have some time alone, please. I still have a lot of thinking to do."

"Absolutely," Chance nodded. "I'll tell the others to stay up front too." Chance started to leave when he suddenly turned around. "Two things. I know Adam is going to ask about you. What do I tell him? And why me?"

"Tell him I'm okay, but I'm not ready to talk yet. I'll let him know when I am." Tim shrugged as he thought about the second question. "Because we've been friends a long time and... when you got in my face and yelled at me there was something about your stance and tone that reminded of Adam's dominant side." Tim looked away and Chance took that as his cue to leave.

Chance quietly walked to the front of the bus. He saw Adam curled up on the couch and took the seat next to him. He took a moment to study the man he thought he knew; he tried to marry the new information with the old but couldn't seem to get his mind to grasp it all. "Adam?" He said quietly while laying a hand on his knee.

Adam's head snapped up and he uncurled himself. He tried to stand but Chance kept him on the couch with a shake of his head.

"I need to talk to him" Adam whined.

"He's not ready for that yet" Chance said quietly. "He's calmed down substantially but he needs some more time. He said he would come to you when he's ready."

"Did he talk to you?" Adam asked quietly.

"Yes, he did" Chance replied and watched as Adam's eyes grew larger. "He told me just enough so that I would understand. I don't know everything." Chance whispered.

"Chance, I... I don't..." Adam sputtered.

"Shhhh," Chance said as he placed a finger in front of his lips. "You're secret is safe with me."
