once the train trundles into gwangju and files into a train station taehyung can't remember the name of, they both exit the busy train and step onto the busier platform with no intention of speaking to one another. both have come to terms with the whole we-kissed-each-other-&-we-both-liked-it-omfg ordeal, but that doesn't stop the immense awkwardness leaking, creating heavy uncomfortableness between them.
neither say a word as they make their way along the crowded platform, heading towards the exit of the train station. as they walk out of the station and onto a town square of some sort, taehyung lags behind, nervously chewing his lower lip at the amount of people crowding round him. it's hectic — it's just became afternoon rush hours and dark clouds are hanging overhead threateningly, warning people of upcoming showers, and causing them to scuttle quickly to their homes or workplaces.
jungkook, hands in his pockets but with pikachu shoved under his left armpit, strides on ahead, walking briskly through the town square and ignoring the several lines of chain store shops advertising branded clothing or newest makeup products with their glowing neon signs and laminated a3 posters. jungkook may not appreciate the sights but taehyung takes his sweet time to marvel at them — he's never been here, he's never experienced the costumed mascots handing out leaflets and samples, never experienced the amazing food stalls that line the roads, never experienced watching insane dance acts take place on the streets or the young teens who busk together, singing softly whilst strumming their guitars soothingly.
he finds himself walking past all the above with widened eyes, useless leaflets filling up his hands by the second and several samples of street food being shoved into his mouth by cooing friendly ahjummas.
when jungkook turns around to make sure taehyung's following him closely, he notices the dazed boy standing a metre away, holding a variety of leaflets and skincare samples in his hand and animatedly watching a busking teen couple sing a catchy duet. his lips move, lip syncing the words he seems to recognises whilst standing there, watching the act.
slightly amused, jungkook shakes his head at how easily distracted the other gets when he finds new attractions before walking up to him, about to kill his fun and tell him to hurry up and move.
only when he gets to taehyung's side, he finds a smile wedged firmly onto taehyung's face — looking so indescribably happy that jungkook doesn't have the heart to pull him away when he's clearly having so much fun. so jungkook stands there stiffly by his side, listening in on the couple singing their duet that taehyung seems to love.
when the song finally finishes, taehyung claps as best as he could with an armful of leaflets and samples weighing him down, and turns to face jungkook, a grin on his face. "that was so—!" he starts but as soon as taehyung's eyes latch onto jungkook's lips, he abruptly stops and quickly turns away, blushing hard as once again he's reminded of the kiss. jungkook, noticing taehyung's behaviour, hurriedly turns away in the other direction, red colouring his ears.
"um, we should go." jungkook breathes.
taehyung nods, not bothering to look up and meet jungkook's gaze. "right, so. let's go." jungkook stammers, starting to walk away from the buskers. taehyung follows after the male holding his oversized yellow pikachu under one arm.

they stop soon at a small cafe named YUICHI'S CAFE! before the rain starts to fall. it's a teeny building wedged in between two clothing shops, looking positively suffocated as it stands there. nevertheless, the interior is pleasantly cute according to taehyung when he steps in — it's painted a soft shade of yellow that brightens up taehyung's mood. matching coloured chairs and tables are dotted round the place, allowing customers to seat themselves and sip at drinks of their choice. it's a calming atmosphere: there's a low hubbub surrounding the place and the scent of something delicious baking in the oven wafts towards the two boys who take a seat by the large floor to ceiling windows.
jungkook takes the menu, quickly scanning its contents before silently passing it to taehyung. "choose something big." he says when taehyung takes the card, "you need to gain some fucking weight." he adds on in a mutter, looking out of the window to watch the rain clouds finally burst and spill down on the land below.
"o–oh, okay." taehyung mumbles, blinking at jungkook before looking down at the menu in his hand. he runs his eyes over the listed items with his stomach growling at every food name he passes by — they all sound extremely good to taehyung and it's been days since he's had a proper meal — he can't help it.
in the midst of picking out his final choice, a waitress sidles up to their table, asking if they were ready to order. taehyung hurriedly draws his hoodie and mask over his face whilst jungkook speaks.
jungkook gives his order; "yeah, im gonna have the grilled salmon with the side salad. and an americano, please." he finishes with a small smile. he turns to taehyung, "kim?"
taehyung looks up from the menu and clears his throat several times before speaking (jungkook raises his eyebrows at this), "okay! id like the tomato and basil pasta, the mushroom risotto, one slice of cheese and tomato pizza, one portion of chicken bites, one regular portion of fries, one bbq burger, one fruit salad, one slice of YUICHI'S cafe's special carrot cake, one bottled water and one freshly squeezed orange juice. uh, i think that's it. . . yeah, that's all — thank you!" taehyung beams at the perplexed waitress who scribbles down notes fast.
jungkook stares at taehyung. taehyung mouths a 'what?' when he catches him staring but jungkook looks away at the struggling waitress, an unimpressed look on his face.
the waitress checks through taehyung's order once more, fully confirming it before walking away, mentally patting herself on the back for keeping up with taehyung's huge request. once the waitress is a metre away distance from jungkook and taehyung, jungkook turns to face taehyung.
"when i said 'order something big', i meant order a dish that'll fill you up not order a third of the godamn menu ––jesus, kim." he splutters out, incredulous.
"a dish won't fill me up, not after all those pot noodles you've been feeding me — im starving," taehyung protests, "besides you told me to gain some weight and im doing just that."
they seem to drop their awkward blushing crushing teen act and seem to have resumed to their regular one.
jungkook rolls his eyes, "the hell am i supposed to pay for all this?" jungkook questions himself, shaking his head in disbelief.
taehyung scoffs, narrowing his eyes, "as if you're not freaking rich, mr i-own-a-bloody-mercedes-benz."
jungkook's eyes darken, "don't talk so lightly about the car i ditched to save your sorry ass." jungkook warns, before dropping his tone to a low mumble, shaking his head ad he says, "poor seagull" under his breath.
taehyung stills.
"you named your car? you named it seagull? as in the bird?"
"no, after the overwatch player." jungkook corrects bitterly.
taehyung, trying to hold his laughter in, tries to mutter out a quiet, "m'sorry" but the fact that jungkook — scary ass murdering kidnapping criminal — named his car after a motherfucking gamer, makes taehyung burst out laughing. he laughs hard, slapping his palm repeatedly against the table in disbelief.
seething, jungkook glares at taehyung.
five minutes later, when taehyung's laughter finally turns into breathy little huffs, the younger raises an eyebrow.
"done?" he scowls, leaning back in his seat with his arms folded over his chest.
with his cheeks practically splitting in half because of his too wide smile, taehyung nods.
"hey, your dressing's got really dirty. you should re-bandage it." taehyung hums, still smiling lightly.
"huh? oh, yeah." jungkook murmurs as he brings his fingers to graze the bandaged wound on his forehead. the material felt rough under his fingertips.
"im sure the workers here have got a first aid box somewhere. . ." taehyung thinks aloud, "ask them for a bandage, ill bandage it up for you." taehyung tells jungkook simply.
"do you know how to change a bandage?" jungkook scoffs.
"no, but we can always look it up on wikihow." taehyung shrugs, distractedly playing with the salt and pepper shakes.
a few minutes later, taehyung stands over jungkook, assessing the web article jungkook had found on the internet whilst jungkook sat on his chair, looking almost bored.
"okay, gloves." taehyung orders, opening his palm so jungkook could reluctantly hand him the medical gloves. taehyung places the phone on the table and slides the plastic over his hands before taking the first aid box from the waitress who hovers over them nervously. taehyung rummages around for the gauze pad the article mentioned.
he takes the pad and strip bandages out as well as scissors before turning to jungkook.
"ill take off the bandage — tell me if it hurts okay?" taehyung instructs, placing his gloved hands on the end of jungkook's bandage. he peels the medical tape away and unravels the dressing carefully with shaky hands.
"your hands are shaky." jungkook points out as he stares up at taehyung's face, expressionless.
"my hands seem to shake when im around you." taehyung mumbles out without thinking through properly, too distracted by the task at hand.
"what?" jungkook coughs, clearly caught off guard by taehyung's words.
eyes widening, taehyung stills his movements when he realises his words.
"what?" taehyung quickly answers, hurriedly unwrapping jungkook's bandage with sudden speed.
"you just—"
"stop staring at me." taehyung chokes out, reddening by the second. jungkook's narrowed eyes bore into him, making his heartbeat race and eyes blink like crazy.
feeling pretty nervous, taehyung peels the bandage away from jungkook's wound a little too harshly, causing jungkook to wince in pain.
"shit, sorry." taehyung apologises quickly, frantically dumping the dirty bandage in the bin provided by the waitress who watches the two with interest, as if the two males were the leads of a gay kdrama.
regretting his offer of bandaging up jungkook, taehyung takes the gauze pad with strong hesitation. he ignores jungkook's questioning stare as he fixes the pad over the purple red gash in his forehead. taehyung cringes at the injury — it looks so bad. it must've hurt like a bitch, taehyung thinks, biting his lip.
he voices out his thoughts, "does it hurt too much?" he asks quietly, taking the bandage in his hands while looking down at jungkook with slight sadness.
"i can handle the pain. s'ok, stop looking like you're about to cry."
"im not going to!" taehyung argues back.
jungkook sighs, "here, sit down and let me do it. i just gotta wrap it around my head three times, right?" jungkook asks, taking the roll of bandage from taehyung's grasp. taehyung frowns but rounds back to his side of the table, seating himself whilst watching and instructing the younger on how to wrap his forehead up.
"hold on, ill stick it down." taehyung orders, tearing a bit of medical tape to stick down the end. gulping, taehyung leans over the yellow and white chequered tablecloth to stick the end of bandage down. he pulls away, satisfied with the end result. he packs the first aid box, closes it and hands it over to the waitress, smiling and thanking her.
then the wait takes place. the wait of taehyung's food to be made and sent to their table. taehyung sighs and turns his head to face window which is laden with rain droplets. jungkook, on the other hand, relaxes in his seat and watches the boring programme shown on the television hanging from off the wall.
soon enough, the same waitress wanders over to their table with a plate of grilled salmon and anther smaller plate of side salad. an americano follows. taehyung watches rather sullenly as jungkook digs into his meal, knife and fork at the ready.
taehyung sighs heavily and turns to watch the tv show displayed on the screen, hungrily awaiting his meal.
"s'your fault, yanno. you should've ordered one meal, not ordered for a godamn elephant." jungkook rolls his eyes when taehyung sighs again, playing with the salt shakers again. he lifts up a forkful of grilled salmon and offers it to taehyung, "want a bit?"
"no, ill wait." taehyung mumbles, resting his head against the table with yet another sigh. he lifts his head up again in less than a millisecond later, "speaking of elephants, d'you wanna see one?"
jungkook flickers his gaze upwards at taheyung, "what."
"look!" taehyung says excitedly, lifting up the sleev of his hoodie to reveal two miles close together. he lightly pinches the flesh between the moles, making a 'trunk'.
"look it's an elephant! it looks like one, doesn't it?"
jungkook chokes on the iceberg lettuce in his salad when he catches sight of the 'elephant' taehyung was talking about. "what the—" he starts laughing, causing taehyung to beam at jungkook and make 'elephant' noises. noises which make jungkook shake his head and laugh in disbelief because he was not expecting that.
jungkook's laughing like a kid again and taehyung feels like his heart is ready to burst with how freaking soft feels — it's honestly incredibly. anyway, taehyung feels his laughter still when he catches sight of jungkook shaking his head and laughing, eyes crinkling so—
taehyung looks out of the window quickly when he realises he's staring, red cheeked he watches the raindrops pitter patter against the already rain splattered window.
