Chapter 11

                          ~Casey Halls~

I'm literally the biggest idiot that ever existed. I should've just followed my instinct and left her on the sidewalk in front of the station.

All this time she had someone to drive her to Miami. She said she had no one.

The worst part is I gotta talk to her to ask her what her address is, why didn't I get it before?

"Annie, give me your address." I glance at her briefly, she looks happy for some reason.

"I'm glad we're talking again." She said softly. The sun is rising, the sky is a dark blue color. Adele plays quietly on the radio, our breaths are repetitive.

Empty chip bags, and old soda cans on the backseat floor with a few crumbs. My air freshener swaying back and forth.

"Don't get excited. I just want your address so I can hurry and dump you at home and finally be rid of you. Your presence is annoying me to the point where I want to abandon both my car and you. Now your address please." I don't care if I came across rude or I hurt her feelings. She used me when she simply could've asked her son for a ride. She made me feel guilty about not helping her before when all along she was in the wrong.

You were just being a good citizen.

No. I was stupid, stupid enough to fall for her calls for help. I should've just mind my own business.

We finally pull into Annie's driveway. I jump out and roughly grab and toss her belongings to the ground.

"Do you think you could help me bring those to the door?" I snapped.

"NO! I've done enough for you. Be grateful that I drove you, a total stranger, to Miami. Then you don't pay me so this ride was free. Do I look like a bellman to you?"

"Annie? What's all this commotion? Hey you, leave my wife alone!" A older man emerges from the house and puts an arm around Annie's waist.

An irritated yell comes from my mouth. I kick her bags out of the way, jump in my car and back out of the driveway.

Looking back was my first mistake, but I don't make the same mistake a second time.
