Personally, Sirius never liked the fact of wishing. The things he would wish for would be far too good to be true. He wanted memories to fade, but they couldn't. He wanted things to go right, but they couldn't, just because of one simple reason. It was obvious in his eyes. He was Sirius Black. Original family disappointment. He wore this title like a name, but that was because he believed that if he told himself enough, he would come to terms with it. Eventually, he did; he became proud of being different, but there where times he questioned why he was the way he was. Why couldn't he have been born in to a family where he didn't have to change to be accepted? Why couldn't have the heavens bless him with the gift of moving on? Why couldn't he be perfect? The thoughts were as dark as the night sky outside, and as they fogged Sirius' mind like poisonous gas, he began to wonder his entire existence. Some nights are better than others, but some are so painful that he fears to go to sleep in worry that the nightmares will bombard his mind, another straight after the last, and he would be trapped until the last horror blacked out. Tonight was one of those nights.
He didn't really know why he was feeling the way he was, because no more than three hours ago did something wonderful happen. His brother had phoned him again, the only person who truthfully had seen the battles he had to fight meaning he was the only person who could tell him what really happened if he ever found himself knocked out of the elegant floors of the Black Manor. His brother was the only reason Sirius didn't drop to knees and let his spine crack with the harsh lash of the whips, because if he did that, what would happen to Regulus? He tapped his fingers lightly on the steering wheel and he sucked in his breath, balling himself up tighter on his seat. He knew the night would pass, the midnight monsters would crawl back down in to their shadowy holes, but right now, he was scared. Fearful of the dark and what lurks deep within. He wouldn't let it consume him, not now, not ever. He would've gladly welcomed it years ago when he was in his drinking phase, but he wasn't who was then. He had hope now and a life that was maybe worth living for. It was hard to fall asleep at the moment for it was too quiet. Not even the low groan of the wind. He was glad when he heard just the slightest of noises, which was Remus turning over. Sirius Black knew exactly how much of a light sleeper Remus was, so he eyed him warily until he felt fatigue threaten to take him whole. He could feel it wrapping around his head and he thought that maybe, he should have welcome it back.
"Padfoot? Wake up." Remus gently shook Sirius' shoulder. It wasn't too long before the raven haired boy's eyes fluttered open, which was quite surprising because usually you'd have to scream to get him up.
"What time is it?" He muttered, rubbing his eyes with his knuckles. He pulled himself up and cracked his back. Sleeping in the car while in such an awkward position was never really a good thing to do.
"Half ten. Thought you'd probably want a bit of a lie in because when I woke up the first time, you still had shadows under your eyes, so I'm assuming you had a shit night?" Remus could read him like a book, and that didn't always come in handy. Two other people had Remus' talent too: Peter and James, and that made it much harder to cover things up.
"It wasn't that bad, it's just the insomnia kicking in again." He looked down, refusing to meet Remus' amber beauties. Remus sensed the lie. He knew it wasn't the insomnia that was keeping it up, because if it was, Sirius would have closed his eyes for long because that became a habit of his whenever he couldn't sleep. But that wasn't the case. Sirius was sabotaged by his own thoughts, you could just see it in his posture.
"Wake me up next time, yeah? If you can't sleep, or just need a hug." Remus still stared at Sirius' hair, trying to get his boyfriend's attention. What he got as a reply though, was a simple nod and a swallow. Little did Remus know that Sirius swallowed the words that sprang to his throat the moment he finished his sentence.
He pressed a kiss to Sirius' forehead in hope of reassuring him, and he knew he did the right thing when he felt the once tense boy's shoulders loosen.
"There we go." Remus whispered, tucking a loose strand of hair behind Sirius' ear.
"Yeah. There we go." Sirius repeated, smiling.
Sirius found himself getting very nervous when he pulled up to Regulus' flat. The lump in his throat only grew by the moment and stopped all the words from coming up.
"You look nervous." Remus said, pointing out the obvious.
"No shit." Sirius just managed to choke out before the lump stopped him.
"Oh come on, your brother loves you. You're his idol." Remus tilted his head as Sirius drove in to the indoor car park.
"His girlfriend's going to think I'm some sort of chav. Like, I'm sexy and all but I dress like a chav."
"You're not wearing those chavvy Adidas joggers. And if you were, we all know you wouldn't be wearing them so low you can see your arse."
"Fine. I guess it is hard not to like me." Sirius turned in to a space in the visitor section. Remus rolled his eyes and sighed.
Remus knocked on the door just to save Sirius' clammy hands the trouble. A short (but still very slightly taller than Sirius), black haired teenager opened the door. Remus knew Regulus was about nineteen, but he looked a few years older. He had no wrinkles obviously, but he just had that air around him.
"Sirius you're so short!' Regulus sang, teasing Sirius. Sirius folded his arms and it was as if all sense of nervousness left him as he stepped over the threshold.
"Reg, are they here?" A girl with a black hair cut just above her shoulders and very pale skin emerged from around the corner.
"Yeah. Um, this is my stupid, fucking twatty ass brother and his best friend Remus." Regulus gestured towards his brother and his brother's boyfriend. He didn't know that though.
"Oh, so I'm 'stupid, fucking twatty ass brother' and Remus is just 'his best friend'? How rude, Reggie. Remus' should be the 'dear bookworm'." Sirius huffed still standing in the corridor.
"Still immature, I see." Regulus muttered before snapping his fingers at Sirius' shoes and shrugging his shoulders at Remus to say 'How do you deal with him?'. The black haired girl tipped her head towards a room which she walked too, the three boys following after.
"Ok. So I'm Rin Yoon, it's nice to meet you." Rin shook Remus' hand first then Sirius. Regulus plopped on to the sofa and, after giving him an odd look, she sat down too. Sirius sat down on the one opposite meaning Remus had to sit next to him. If he didn't, there would be three on one side and one on the other. That just didn't look right in his opinion.
"Nice to meet you too, Rin." Remus smiled, nudging Sirius' arm, though not so hard that it was actually noticeable.
"Yeah, I'm certain Regulus has spoke loads about me." Sirius responded, pushing some of his hair that had fallen out of his man bun back.
"You know, he actually has." Rin admitted, looking at Regulus who had his pale cheeks flush rosy.
"W-what? No I haven't! I spoke about him twice and how frustrating he is!" Regulus ran his fingers through his hair frantically.
"You know you love me."
"How could he not? We all love an childish little brat." Remus poked Sirius in the arm,
"Well, you do." Sirius retorted, only a few seconds later did he realise what he said. He didn't clap a hand over his mouth, because that would've been too suspicious, but his back did straighten.
Light chatter had passed through the four people in the past couple of hours and Remus had found himself enjoying the company and feeling like he didn't fit in. He enjoyed hearing the romantic story of how Regulus and Rin came to be because come on, if someone came up to you in a coffee shop and said 'I like your hairline!' then you know it's something.
"Right, I'll go make tea then, shall I?" Rin said, standing up. Regulus replied with a simple 'Thanks, babe' -which is quite an improvement from better 'I like your hairline!'- while Remus and Sirius nodded and said there pleases and yeses.
"Mind if I use your loo, Reg?" Sirius was already striding away as he finished his sentence?
"Yeah actually. You'll pollute my bathroom." Regulus called after him
"Thanks Reggie, you're the best!" Sirius' muffled voice sounded as he locked the bathroom door.
Rin was busy opening the fridge and cupboard on a search for something to have for tea in the conjoined kitchen when Remus noticed Regulus looking at him with a smirk on his face.
"So, you and Sirius, eh?" He leant back in to the patchy sofa as Remus looked at him wide eyed.
"Haha, what?" Remus said somewhat stiffly, but really he was feeling a bit queasy.
"Subtle flirting and oh would you look at that, there's something on your neck!" Regulus grinned, sitting forward again and clapping his hands?
"Something on my neck...?" Remus brushed his fingertips nagainst the left side of his neck and though he couldn't see it, he stopped dead on a reddish bruise. He could just sense it there.
"Oh my fuck, I'm right!" Regulus' eyes gleamed with happiness, "Holy shit, this is amazing! Sirius's never had a boyfriend! Well, I'm assuming you're his boyfriend, I dunno. Are you?" Remus nodded slowly, "Ok, this is officially the best thing that's ever happened to my brother? Heck, he's a legend!" It was so nice seeing Regulus buzzing, that even Remus' couldn't help but crack a smile.
"Sirius got some diiiiick." Regulus whispered when Sirius entered the room again.
"Damn right he did! I was gonna say 'damn straight' but that wouldn't make sense would it, Remus?" Sirius smirked.
"Fuck off."
"Wait, so I'm gonna be an uncle? Like an frocking actual, uncle? Not a cousin too, just an uncle?" Sirius rambled after he hugged both Regulus and Rin. Remus followed straight after, spouting compliments and sweet things for all he was worth.
"Well no, we were thinking of you godfather too, but if you dont want to take that off-"
"I wanna be godfather too!" Sirius whined. Rin had just announced she was pregnant over tea and Sirius nearly choked on his water. Literally, he was gasping by the end of it.
"You know what Rem, I think it's time we go home. I miss sleeping in a bed without wasting money." Sirius started driving back up to London.
Their trip had finally come to a close.
